Free refills gone?

Do not think it's gaming the system. Most fast food places here in Charleston SC have free refills. Have had P.F. Chang's (sit down meal) ask if I want a sweet tea to go. So has anyone contacted Disney on what the drink refill policy is? I prefer water with lemon but there are times I must admit an ice cold Coke or Pepsi tastes great

My inlaws are at the world right now. They were at riverside for lunch yesterday and when they went for a refill, it said not allowed. They asked and were told the only way to get refills is with the refillable mug. I hadn't seen this posted but is it only quick service drink stations? It was bad enough they put chips in the stupid cups and only allowed 3 refills. But if true, this is kind of ridiculous.
Not sure why this thread was so hard to understand or how the wheels fell off but oh well.

It's how these forums roll lately. Some posters just can't leave.

You all shouldn't be drinking soda anyway. That's right, I'm being that guy.
lol, Darlin, there are a ton of things that I "shouldn't" be doing. drinking soda is probably the most family friendly one I can post.

lol, my late husband was a triathlon athlete, never drank soda or alcohol, healthy living and then died at 53 after 6 months of an aggressive cancer.

I'll keep my coke, and do it right.

Just to be clear ...... alcohol good, cola bad.

The mob mentality on these threads is always entertaining.

Nope.. that’s murky.

Alcohol in excess is bad.

Complaining about Disney limiting refills to 3 per person during a meal either means that A. You were dumping that soda in a reusable mug.
Or B. You’re complaining because it’s a limit, regardless how little that limit will actually have an impact on the majority of the population.
Or C. There’s a major problem with soda consumption.

See...that was your shot to let it go and not say anything/stop the insanity...

Right there...and it buzzed the tower like maverick

Free refills are "Industry Standard" in the US, and basically expected without question.

I think - if you’re literal - you’d find that many places where refills are “free” actually don’t advertise as such...McDonald’s being an example.

On sitdown restaurants...I agree. But beverages drive food sales there.

Most sit down restaurants in my area if you are having sweet or unsweetened tea or soda they refill during the meal and never charge extra. Alcohol no question charged by the drink. Can't think of one fast food place that doesn't give free refills

Is it a loophole really, though? I mean, they had to specifically decide to install the RapidFill system that required chips to activate. Then they had to specifically decide to put chips in the paper cups that had been set to a three refill limit. It wasn't like "oops, customers can get three refills." Someone made the decision to set that as the limit. They could have just as easily made it one. Or none.
I think it became a loophole, but, it wasn't looked at like that in the early days. One thing that comes to mind was a statement by Walt that (slightly paraphrased) "if we keep the place clean, people will be to embarrassed to litter". That was true in the 50's for the most part. People had respect for the property of others and did get embarrassed if they violated that unwritten law. They were considered classless. Wanna bet on how few would be bothered today? When the fountains were installed there were unwritten human behaviors that separated people from thoughtless, entitled, dishonest and classless people. There was no need to enforce it because it happened so seldom that it was just a minor issue. That all changed with societal evaporation of morals and behaviors. It got worse and worse and when technology made it possible to police the situation without massive costs connected to it, they rightfully jumped at the opportunity.

People have a tendency to only see things in a single person manner. "Well, Disney won't get hurt if I fill my jug with soda, they probably don't pay for it anyway. (which is one of the most illogical assumptions ever. Coke doesn't benefit from giving product away and the more that they give away, the more money they lose. There is absolutely no incentive for them to be martyrs to a crowd of financially stable, semi-rich folks. It would benefit Coke to let Pepsi lose money until they go broke.) Multiply that one person by the thousands a day that pass through the resort and you are talking about a lot of money.

Sure, but, none of them have clients that park there all day long and draw off it with just one payment. Any of those will not give you a free refill after you have left the premises nor will they allow you to fill jugs with that products. We need to compare apples to apples.

I agree and it did not even enter my mind that there are people who would sit there hours on end expecting free drinks off of one payment nor fill jugs or leave the premises and come back expecting free drinks. Guess I am from a different time when there were not so many people who for a lack of a better term are low class

The very point of my post. It was never a problem until the "new society" made it one. Just an example of how a few can ruin things for everyone else.

I used the class distinction, but, it wasn't really what I wanted to say. Even in a society that has an acknowledged class system doesn't usually imply more then financial status within a community. Now we tend to use it to define dishonesty, immorality and sliminess. I wanted to distinguish between the two. Someone that is defined as low class are not necessarily dishonest, etc.

Yes
Sofritas are the only acceptable option here. ;)

I'll disagree. Evil things done to rice by cultures that don't really like rice and do anything to hide it's taste or texture are not good. Sofritas, risotto, jollof, paella, etc are things to run away from.
