Free dining

I think I have this figured out.

Here's what I'm thinking. Last Sunday, I received an email notification stating that Disney Visa Card Holders can take advantage of a kids (3-9) eat, stay and play for free promotion through Oct. 2. I'm thinking great: have a Disney Visa; Going August 16-23; already bought the QS plan. This is good. Called my AAA Travel Agent (why AAA - love Diamond Parking), and told her to make my 2 year old a 3 year old (so I don't have to buy her food), and I now have 2 kids to take advantage of the program. And some are going to hate this, the 2 year-olds extra park ticket makes for yet another great Fastpass opportunity!

So anyway, she takes care of all this, I got about a $270 break on the trip (plus the cost of my 2 year-olds food). Not a free-dining value discount, but certainly better than a sharp stick in the eye. Life is starting to get good (and yes, I was going to Disney in August even without a promo)!

So tonight, I log into Chase Disney Visa and I click on offers for cardmembers. The Eat, Play and Dine promotion is still up there, however it says, "for most dates March through August 14?" Here I believe lies the answer.

That "rumor" posted stating that Free Dining is coming on April 29 for Chase Visa Holders.....I really think it is going to happen. And I'm happy to take an additional $450 or so in savings in what has alread turned into a much more affordable trip.

I'm new. Let me here from some of your long-timers? Do I have this right?

I guess we'll see tomorrow.

I think the traditional Free Dining period will not happen this year unless announced VERY late like early July. They have started promos out weeks before, but if people are biting at a lesser discount, Disney wins.

This may be a test, but I have a feeling that the end result may be something like a 1/2 off dining plan in future years.

Heck - I'll take anything and be happy about it as long as it saves a bit of money and any savings is "savings" I can redirect in other areas at Disney LOL

I'm hoping for some type of free dining the week of Thanksgiving...yes I know Holiday peak time BUT last year I had a great deal so I'm wishing on alot of stars right now!!!:ROFLOL:OR I'd take a small room discount - not picky

Yes its true per the email I got Disney World released the FREE Disney World Dining discount this morning for Disney Visa Cardholders. The travel dates are August 15-October 2. If you stay at a Disney Value Resort, you will get the Quick Service Dining Plan for free. If you stay at a Disney Moderate or Deluxe Resort, you will get the Basic Dining Plan for free. Can we still upgrade the QSDP to the reg. dining if staying at a value?

I have reservations from 08/24-09/01 at Pop Century. If I call Disney Monday to add the QSDP and upgrade to the reg. DP, how much do I get charged for the change?

Looks like the difference between the two is $10/adult/day and $2/child/day.

There's no fee to change your package as long as you do so within 45 days of your arrival.

I know the speculation is that free dining will hopefully be available to the general public on the 2nd or 3rd of May. Where would be the best place for me to get that information at the earliest possible time? Website? Call Disney direct?

Any insight would be appreciated!

I would say keep checking the website and here because it is always posted here pretty quick! If my memory serves me right the general public offers in the past have been released on the weekends. I am waiting for it too. :dazzle:

Don't worry about them running out of "the offer" because they won't. If you're worried about getting your ADRs before everyone else, you can make ADRs now even if you don't have a reservation.
