I definitely think it’s a thing. I picked up a flu bug either on the plane to Orlando or at AK or DHS, and spent the trip home and a couple days after absolutely miserable.
Awww....if it's any consolation, I don't think most people would have taken offense at A touching the coins because it was obviously just that she was enthralled with something shiny. I certainly wouldn't have taken it as anything else. It's great to talk to her about consent and boundaries, because she does need to learn it, and you could just mention that when the woman said it was okay, she meant that it was ok that you forgot to ask before, not that you could keep doing it. But she probably really did mean it that she knew A didn't mean anything by it. It would have been different if A were 10 years old, but she's not....most people are going to get that kids are kids, and it's not like you ignored it and let her do it. She'll have appreciated your effort to correct her. The whole situation would have made me laugh if I had been in Jasmine's shoes. I'm betting it wasn't nearly as bad as you thought it was...if it had bothered her that much, she would have stopped her herself. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it too much. You corrected her and you did your best to apologize, etc. You did a good job handling it. I'm sure Jasmine knows you did your best.Day three MNSSHP continued...
I bet by now you're thinking there's no way A could do anything more embarrassing than what she's done already.... But you'd be so sorely wrong. A decided a couple months ago that she wanted to learn how to make adult friends, so we've been working on opening with a compliment or introducing yourself. To be completely frank, I'm an introvert with an extroverted daughter and she makes me talk to a lot of people i wouldn't otherwise have talked to. I don't mind so much when she makes new kid friends, but adults always launch into small talk with me after she introduces herself and it's exhausting. This skill is important though, so I encourage it when appropriate.
While we certainly didn't arrive in time to get a front row seat for the parade, we found a great spot near the popcorn cart in the hub that would work for both the parade and the fireworks. It was up against the rail of a planter box too, so we didn't have to feel guilty popping the kids up on our shoulders for the parade, either.

The headless horseman came, which I had read heralded in the parade

Bit there was no sign of the parade after the headless horseman was well and gone. The crowd cheered jovially when the CM in charge of sweeping up the horse poop came through, but we waited for the parade, and waited ... And waited..... And waited. People started leaving. The murmers were rumbling around about doubts on whether or not the parade was even coming. What if they cancelled it? Why did they send the horseman if they weren't sending the parade??! Finally a guy informed our section that the gap between the horseman and the parade was always this long because it all started in frontierland and the parade was just really slow.
A was hurting my shoulders i put her down by the stroller and went back to watching for the parade. When I turned to check on her, she had made an adult friend; a young woman who had dressed up as princess Jasmine. She introduced herself, complimented Jasmine, answered questions and asked some of her own. You wouldn't believe how proud i was of her and how relieved i was she was engaged in the small talk instead of me

I turned around to watch for the parade again for a few minutes. When i looked back to check on A and Jasmine, I was horrified to see A stroking the coins on Jasmine's shirt, back and forth, right across her bewbs I exclaimed "A!!! Stop!! You can't so that!! We talked about consent!! You can't just touch other people's bewbs!!" And the girl who clearly didn't want to get A into trouble said uncomfortably "it's okay,... She didn't mean anything by it...."
I was mortified. A apologized and then ran off talk to P. I apologized profusely to the girl for my daughter groping her, and then turned back to watch the parade. Guys..... I can't make this up.... I looked back to check on A.... And both A and P were stroking the coins on this poor woman's chest
Me: A!!! We talked about this!! You can't...
A: BUT SHE SAID IT WAS OKAY!!!
Me:
Apparently 3.5 is not old enough to understand that people sometimes say "it's okay" and mean something entirely different This kid, man.... I was so relieved when the parade finally started coming through

Shortly after the parade ended, the fireworks started

And when they ended, it was super super late for the girls. We walked with the crowd down main street, returned the stroller, and caught the monorail to our bus stop. By the time we got the girls bathed and washed most of the red out of A's hair and off her little red face, it was almost midnight. Even when she's been sick, A has never been up that late before. Both her and P crashed immediately when their little heads hit the pillow.M and I showered quickly and then joined them.
Our thoughts on the Halloween Party.... Firstly, I had read that you shouldn't get in the treat lines because they were slow that was not our experience. All the lines went through moved rapidly and through some interesting theaters and landscapes. Secondly, the atmosphere of the party was so much more relaxed and happy than a normal park day. In my experience, you can't walk far in the Magic Kingdom without hearing guests yelling. Parents yelling their children. Parents yelling at each other. Guests yelling CMs. It feels like maybe people get stressed out trying to get their moneys worth. But at the Halloween party, everyone just send relaxed and wanting to enjoy the night and have a good time. And the family costumes were amazing!! Everyone was dressed up and the kids were all so adorable.
Just the ambiance alone was worth the party ticket. In fact, we saw a lot of elderly people sitting at tables around the park people watching and just enjoying the night. Add in the trick or treating and the rides being walk ons (even 7DMT was only 35 minutes) and it was definitely worth the cost. We all had a really great time. Well, except that poor Jasmine
I think I'd have to not go with my child then...... she touched every single one of those, and put most of them in her mouth
No it's not, and anyone who has ever had a 3 year old would know that. DS used to have problems with the "sp" pronunciation and I was always mortified when we went somewhere and he asked "Mag ik spelen?" (may I play?) because he pronounced it "Stelen" (steal). I always had to repeat it with the correct pronunciation so people didn't think I was giving him permission to shoplift. Having a toddler just has a whole set of issues that comes with it and you navigate those issues the best you can.Thank you for your kind words This age isn't the easiest to navigate, LOL.
Okay so this may not be a popular assessment but you know me...No it's not, and anyone who has ever had a 3 year old would know that. there are eleventy billion princesses to choose from
A SURPRISE MEET AND GREET WITH BELLE!!! I don't know what she was doing out here, but she was wearing her gold dress and everything!!
Yay for Belle! We met Belle last October in the same spot, yellow dress and all. We figured she was a Belle in training.Day five - Epcot
That was the last thing we had "scheduled". I jumped on the app and picked up a FP for the Farm Ride, and we headed over to China to see if we could find one last princess.

Two notes about the Mulan meet..... 1) it was a HOT day, and I had been looking forward to the air conditioned line for Mulan. But they've recently moved her outside to the serenity garden. So we melted in line for a while. We were the last family allowed in line. 2) the photopass photographers are generally very great. This one was exceptional. He was so dedicated to his work, that he tripped over backwards and fell into the bushes, then recovered by sitting on the curb that tripped him and saying "the things you do for the hug shot!!" I love how into his work he was!

We walked over to the Land and as soon as we got there, M mentioned how much she wanted to go on Soarin so we took a left instead of the right to the Farm Ride. The wait time was only 10 minutes. Soarin was a walk on. P was not tall enough to ride, however, so A and I headed down the queue while her and M went to the holding area.

This ride took a LOT of convincing for A. She was not thrilled at the idea of having to go on another ride, and the princess makeover was almost not enough bribery. The couple in front of us had older children who no longer came to Disney with them, but said they remembered this phase well. They were so great with her, telling her about how fun the ride was and how we were all there to keep her safe. We buckled in and took off! This ride is definitely not for people who have a fear of falling, LOL, but it was great. A did well on it too and seemed to enjoy everything except the transitions. WHY ARE THE TRANSITIONS SO ROUGH?? LOL. The eagle or whatever that screams as it flies into you was the worst. A clenched and I was like... sorry buddy, that one got me too. A said she liked the ride, but did not want to ride it again with M.
So we stayed in the holding area while M took flight. I grabbed some snacks and apple juice from the restaurant, and the girls ran around on the carpet playing weird magic spell games with the other kids.

A spent a good deal of time telling P about the elephants she saw on the "Airplane Ride" which was really cute. M found us and the first thing out of her mouth was "Did I ever tell you I have a fear of heights?!?!"
From there we FINALLY caught the Farm Ride, which A has since renamed the Vegetable Ride

I was really curious as to why everyone seemed upset with this ride. From everything you read and all the pictures of it, it seems like it's a boring boat ride through a greenhouse. It surprised me when this ended up being my favorite ride at Epcot. It's relaxing, and fun, and informative. I enjoyed watching the kids point out the food items they knew and asking about the ones they didn't. They were enthralled with the fish tanks but not really sure how to feel about fish poop growing our vegetables. Thankfully, neither of them has brought that up since, but I was a little worried we would struggle with vegetables at the dinner table after that. We all really enjoyed this ride.
Afterwards, we headed towards Figment, because why not. As we round the corner looking for how to even get into the ride, guess what we see!!!!! A SURPRISE MEET AND GREET WITH BELLE!!! I don't know what she was doing out here, but she was wearing her gold dress and everything!!

WE FINALLY MET BELLE!!!!
The girls both really enjoyed the "Purple Silly Dragon" and still talk about M's face when the skunk smell hit They had a lot of fun running around the play area afterwards too!!

I think this made some Figment fans of the future. A brings up the purple silly dragon quite a bit and seems like she's looking forward to going back to visit him.
It looks to me like she's going for the braid.Just curious if the selection dial for the princess background looked like this:

OK - so where exactly is A looking (and about to touch)???

Max
Or is she going to wake up and make you share anyway??Day five - Epcot
We had a very important stop to make before leaving the park...... We had a date with the Beverly. We tried a few other varieties of soda first, working our way up to it, and there were quite a few flavors we did like. And then I poured the girls a cup of "water". P tried it first....

We had to get more popcorn in reparations....

These girls are insane for Disney popcorn. They kept chanting over and over "We want popcorn, we want popcorn" until I handed the bucket down to them
We spent some time shopping in Mouse Gears and then headed for the Monorail. While M took the kids ahead, I grabbed a donut from Joffery's for later!! They didn't have pink, but whatever. At the resort we bathed, relaxed, and grabbed some dinner before settling the kids into bed for the night. The pizza wasn't as good this time, and it was a struggle getting the kids to eat anything. Maybe too much popcorn, LOL. After they went to sleep, I had this baby all to myself....

Yay for finally catching Belle. Is it just me or does A look like she actually liked the Beverly?Day five - Epcot
