Day four - Rest and AK

The fairy godmother was wrong.... It's not that everything changes back at midnight, it's that if you keep your kids up until midnight they change into pumpkins the next day. This was pool time: :hilarious::hilarious:View attachment 318465

After an unsuccessful trip to the pool and an extra long nap, the girls were ready to rally and we were on our way to the Animal Kingdom

We picked up our double stroller and hit the photopass spot right inside the gates. It was hot and the sun was beating down on us. The kids were still grumpy (in better spirits, but grumpy af). To top that off, the photographer kept making us do some really weird poses. So we ended up with some pretty ridiculous photos :hilarious::hilarious:

Our first stop was the Safari! I have to say, that I could spend a day doing nothing but walking around AK. When I see it in pictures, to me, it seems like a glorified zoo. But in person it's simply gorgeous. There's something to look at everywhere you go. Random macaws in the trees. Scenic touches on the bridges. Fantastic outfits on the CMs. Just an overall great vibe in the park. We were nearing the end of our FP window (you may be sensing a theme here :hilarious::hilarious:) but even walking fast to the back of the park, we were all really impressed.

It was hot, so most of the animals were not out or active. But we did see the baby giraffe :inlove::inlove:

Funny baby giraffe story..... the CM who was directing our Safari was easily more funny than the CM on our Jungle Cruise (or what I could hear of him over A crying about being scared). But the funniest thing he said he didn't actually mean to be funny about. When we approached the baby giraffe he started talking about the mother nearby and how you could tell it was her by specific markings and how they were always together..... but when we rounded the corner the giraffe nearby clearly had the wrong equipment to be mom :hilarious::hilarious: Also we learned that giraffes pick their noses with their tongues and eat their boogers, which I'm sure you can imagine how much the poop obsessed girls loved that one :hilarious::hilarious:
View attachment 318479

A: "DID HE JUST SAY GIRAFFES EAT BOOGERS!!! WE DON'T EAT OUR BOOGERS!! THAT'S SO GROSS!!! DO PRINCESSES EAT THEIR BOOGERS?!?! CAN I EAT MY BOOGERS?? WHAT IF I'M PRETENDING TO BE A GIRAFFE?!?!"

LOL! :hilarious:

Day four - AK

I've never seen Avatar. It came out when I was in Iraq and all my friends back home talked about how awesome it was to see in the theater. By the time I got home it was no longer in the theaters, and everyone said it wasn't worth a watch if you couldn't see it in the theaters so I just didn't bother with it. M had seen the movie though, and said the land was just like what it looks like in the movie. Even without having seen the movie though, the land is really pretty.

We happened upon a street band/drumming circle and danced for a little bit while M parked the stroller
View attachment 318488

Then we hit the FP line for NRJ. A was scared but I told her if she went on this ride and any other rides I said, she could have a princess makeover. We had already been planning on giving her one :hilarious::hilarious: I'm not normally one to bribe her, but it got her on the ride with a lot less judgemental glances from other parents than when I just blanket told her she was going on the ride. And I only bribed her for rides I thought she would enjoy anyway.
View attachment 318493

She LOVED it!! Her favorite things were the butterflies, but she loved everything about this ride. I was prepared to be disappointed because of the reviews, but maybe the only people disappointed by NRJ are ones that did FOP as well? I thought it was well done and relaxing. And the music was a lot less annoying than IASW :hilarious::hilarious: Although I wish the drumming music was all the way through instead of going into the weird English song.

We sauntered towards Discovery Island, stopping first for a photopass
View attachment 318495

And then M needed to use the restroom so I parked the girls near a toy stand where a CM was making bubbles. The girls loudly exclaimed BUBBLESSSS!!! but the CM looked right at them and put the bubble wand away. She then brought out some other toys instead. The girls amused themselves with sticks and rocks, but kept asking where the bubbles went. The CM purposefully ignored them. When M was walking back from the restroom there was, however, a changing of the guards. A new CM arrived and immediately fired up the bubble wand!!

We caught another street party, and then explored the Tree of Life.

The path on the TOL was closed halfway through, so we were only able to explore one side of it. This tree is really cool though. We enjoyed spotting all the animals!!

I loved ROL, I agree... very calming and relaxing... a child of the 70's... I just love black light I guess!

So my final grade just posted..... against all odds, I PULLED AN A!! I sure hope whomever finds that book in the seat back pocket can use it or sell it for money and doesn't just trash it. I thought for sure I'd be lucky to get a B, but I squeezed in right at 90%. Barely an A, but an A nonetheless :joyfull::joyfull:
Congratulations!
A is so cute running in the rain. And all the cute questions and comments...memories right there.

First of all, I am really enjoying your trip report. As a single old guy, it's hard to imagine what it must be like to be traveling with a precocious 3 year old. You're handling things very well, mom!

That said, why are you covering faces? Is it a security thing? Do you not have permish from your friend? No biggie - just curious. I've been reading and writing trip reports for over 20 years, and I've never seen this before.

Thanks.

Booger eaters? Giraffes eating them was not anything a CM ever mentioned. Of course you would get that CM and A would eat that up. (Ooops, did I just make a pun?):hilarious:

Day five - Epcot continued...

The first to come to our table was Eugene. I know all the other kids call him Flynn Ryder, but for some reason A picked up on the two times he was Eugene Fitzherbert and that's what he's always been to her. I suppose it's his party trick, but he did the "smoulder" in every. single. photo. But he just kinda pursed his lips... Like a Paris Hilton selfie :hilarious::hilarious:

Me: Hey A, look at Eugene! He's doing the "smoulder"!!
View attachment 318532

Me: Okay, now, A.... SHOW ME YOUR SMOULDER!!!!
View attachment 318533
:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Next to our table was A's second favorite princess, Rapunzel...
View attachment 318534

And this is why A didn't eat most of her food.... because she was saving it to show all her princess and prince friends....
View attachment 318535
Then it was Prince Eric's turn to visit. He was my first love :inlove::inlove: When we were children, my cousins, my sister, and I always used to fight over who got to be married to him when we played house :hilarious::hilarious: So of course I had to take an awkward selfie with him to send my sister :hilarious::hilarious:
View attachment 318541

He was really great with the girls, too. He engaged with them, talked to them, exchanged stories with them, he was perfect with them
View attachment 318536
View attachment 318537

Out of nowhere, he grabs their hands and tells them "we have to go welcome my beautiful princess!!" and led them into the other part of the dining hall where Ariel was joining the party...
View attachment 318538

They were a little confused but super excited when they started a weird conga line that circled the dining hall a couple times :hilarious::hilarious:View attachment 318539

When the parade was over, Prince Eric came back to the table to thank A and P for such a wonderful job welcoming Ariel
View attachment 318540

A was so thrilled she was able to help Prince Eric!! She kept telling me "I have a Disney job to welcome Princess Ariel!!!"
It looks like the Prince interactions were worth the meal. The restaurant doesn’t look to be too packed either.

As exhausted as we were, we knew we couldn't hang out in the room all evening with two small overstimulated kids. So we slathered the girls in sunscreen and hit the pool. The splash area is really awesome at the SOG, and the kids really enjoyed it.
View attachment 317738
and the big pool right next to it is really nice as well. They have it sectioned off into lap lanes, free play, adult swim areas, and basketball
View attachment 317739

While the kids swam, M and I ordered a pitcher of beer, some french fries, and some sweet potato fries. In jest.... I would shank my mom for those sweet potato fries. They were legit the best sweet potato fries I've ever had.
View attachment 317740

We ordered a pepperoni pizza and some chicken strips as well and ate poolside. The honey mustard sauce that comes with the chicken strips was house made and really delicious. All the food was spectacular. It was only $15 for a pitcher of beer, too, which we enjoyed as the kids played in the splash area.
View attachment 317741

One bad event this evening though was that A has been in a cat/pony/polar bear phase where she enjoys crawling on the ground like one of those animals. It's super annoying. And disgusting, when she does it in a public restroom or a gas station shop. Anyway, she was doing this around the pool and I thought nothing of it, until she came running up to me screaming about her foot hurting. Sure enough, she had crawled like a cat so much that the concrete floor of the pool scraped all the skin off the top of her foot!
View attachment 317742

The life guard was amazing and brought us a huge stack of bandaids. And because kids are resilient, this didn't seem to stop her from trying to crawl like a cat/pony/polar bear for the rest of the week, either. In fact, the ONLY time she complained about her foot... and this is going to really shock you.... was when I made her walk :hilarious::hilarious:

We gave the kids a quick bath and tucked them into bed, then finished our beer on the patio until the mosquitoes came out well after dark. At that time, we crawled into bed ourselves and day one came to a close.
kids XD

Day three - MNSSHP

For those of you who read my trip report from our Christmas visit to Disney World, you'll know that I'm a planner. I plan things and come in with a game plan. I do very poorly when I don't have a plan. I take life by the horns, set goals, and crush them. It's just not my nature to relax and go with the flow and take life how it comes. But life has a way of knocking you off your feet every now an then, and that happened to me a few months before this trip. My life started careening out of control down a raging river of death :hilarious::hilarious:
tumblr_mcjlz35uan1rcb0d2o1_500.jpg

So I was focused on other things and this Disney trip just sort of snuck up on me. I didn't have a single plan going into the Halloween party. Not one plan of attack. I had two fastpasses scheduled, and one had already closed by the time we received our double stroller at the park entrance. Based on the reviews of the party and the game plans I had read on this forum, I had fully expected this night to be a complete throw away because I hadn't come into it with a plan. But I was so wrong.
View attachment 318017
View attachment 318018

I'll start with a funny parenting mistake. A loves girly things, and one of her favorite things is hair color and hair sparkles. It seemed like a no brainer when she said she wanted to be Ariel to grab a can of red kid-safe temporary hair color. But..... temporary hair color + Florida heat and humidity + sweat =
View attachment 318014
:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

The girls had been talking about going to the Spooky House all morning so the ghosts could tell them Happy Halloween! So our first attraction of the evening was the Haunted Mansion, which was a walk on. The four of us got through the queue as far as the door before A began hysterically screaming that she didn't, in fact, want to go into the Spooky House. So my red child and I waited on the curb outside while M and P went into the dark room and the doors closed.
View attachment 318015

A video called my sister and spent about five minutes picking mulch and fallen leaves out of the beds behind us and feeding them to her like she was a giraffe. Then she decided my sister giraffe was full, and refused to give her any more leaves
View attachment 318023

:hilarious::hilarious: Whatever keeps them entertained, right??

M and P come out of the Spooky House and the first thing out of P's mouth was "Oh man,... A wouldn't have liked that at all, that was even scary for me!!"

We were running up against the end of our fastpass window, so we headed through Frontierland towards the Jungle Cruise (which was also a walk on so the FP wasn't necessary).
View attachment 318016
A had decided she was ready to be afraid of rides again, and she freaked out when we went to board the boat. It was very difficult for me to enjoy this ride because she was so busy being scared of everything. The cruise director, or whatever we call them, had a fake scary voice for every. single. thing. OH NO HERE COMES A WATERFALLL!! OH NO HERE COMES BABY ELEPHANTS!! OH NO HERE COMES SOME MORE TREES!! So I spent the whole ride trying to convince A that he was just acting :rolleyes:

From there, M and P went on the Magic Carpets, which of course A had decided she was too scared to do :rolleyes: and afterwards we went in search of the little treat bags which we hadn't picked up at the park entrance. While asking a CM how the trick or treating even worked (at this time the treat stations were marked but not open so it was confusing) I noticed that the Moana meet and greet was already at almost 2 hours. Before the party even started.

We had a little time, so we took the kids to go potty. It was hot our whole trip, so we pushed about a liter of water a day on each kid. We didn't want them to get dehydrated. When we got out of the bathroom a CM shouted us down, yelling "CINDERELLA!! THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE HERE!! THESE GUESTS ARE SO MESSY AND I AM SO TIRED OF CLEANING UP AFTER THEM! I NEED A BREAK!!" and then he thrust his broom and dust bin into M's hands and walked away
View attachment 318020
It was hilarious :hilarious::hilarious: but because he walked away we weren't sure what to do with the bins, so we just started walking with them :hilarious::hilarious: He came back (from presumably Pecos Bills) with a plastic fork, and this time spoke to A. "Princess Ariel, you dropped your dinglehopper and your hair is a mess!! You better brush your hair with this as soon as possible!!"
View attachment 318021
She didn't put down that plastic fork all night. She was so excited to show everyone her dinglehopper and how to use it :hilarious: The CM took his broom and dust bin and walked away before I could grab his name :(

I took P on Pirates (walk on) while M and A jumped in a treat line that would open soon, because everyone needs a turn with the "I'm too scared to go on that ride" kid :hilarious: I really enjoyed Pirates. I thought it was well done. When we were finished I took the kids through the treat line again.
View attachment 318022
And with that, the kids were both sugared up and the party had officially started....
oh my god, that encounter sounds insanely funny! XD

Day four - AK

If you recall, I said A had a memory like a steel trap and would nefariously use the information the CM gave her when she was scared of Donald and Daisy? Well here we are, four days later at Tusker House..... we got the ROL dining package. I didn't realize how long the Safari was, and by the time we reached the check in for dinner we were about 13 minutes past our ADR. The CM didn't say one word about us being late, she just handed A the buzzer and pointed us to a shady spot under a fan to wait :inlove::inlove:View attachment 318480
View attachment 318481

The food here was phenomenal. I just need to get that out of the way right off the bat. The food was incredible. Whatever this mealie pap is made of (the creamy grit looking stuff) is something I could curl up in and die happy. It was so so good.
View attachment 318482
Everything I tried was something I loved. And we found plenty of offerings to create a "toddler special" as well
View attachment 318483

Mickey stopped by....
View attachment 318484

Then Goofy.....
View attachment 318485

And then it happened......... Donald Duck stopped by, resplendent in his safari attire. P rushes up to him and gives him a huge hug! My kid? Oh,.... my kid rushes up to him and gives him a huge swipe right up his tail feathers and yells "IT'S SOOOO SOFT!! HIS BOOTY BUTT IS SOOO SOFT!!" :brb::brb:
View attachment 318487
So of course she gets P to pet Donald's backside as well, and she exclaims, loudly, how soft it was too. Then Daisy dropped by, and after pictures with her...
View attachment 318486

They did the same thing to her....
but-wait-theres-gkw85v.jpg

Donald and Daisy had both moved on to other tables. I thought we were safe from further embarrassment, but I was wrong :hilarious::hilarious: Every time we went to get more food, or take the girls to the restroom, if they passed either duck at other tables with other families, the girls would stop, take a big swipe up their tail feathers, and loudly tell the family "IT'S SOOOO SOFT!!!!! DID YOU KNOW HIS/HER BOOTY BUTT WAS SOOOO SOFT?!?!" :hilarious::hilarious: Okay girls, get out of their pictures and stop molesting the ducks......

I completely forgot to show my AP when checking out, which is too bad since that would have saved us $10 each. This meal was expensive, but the girls had a lot of fun and the food was fantastic. I've already Pinterested recipes for some of the items on the menu that I really loved, lol. The waitress offered to redo the charges so we could get the discount, but we had overstimulated kids that were starting to get out of hand, and a fastpass over in Pandora to get to...
Oh.. my god.. the tail thing.. XD

The "Disney crud" has officially set in. Is that a thing? I feel like it should be a thing. Every time we visit the World I get insanely sick. It's definitely going to be a tea and Sudafed day today...
I definitely think it’s a thing. I picked up a flu bug either on the plane to Orlando or at AK or DHS, and spent the trip home and a couple days after absolutely miserable.

I think your daughter and I share a ‘keep me away from anything that might be scary’ soul. My parents had to drag me on everything.
Day three MNSSHP continued...

I bet by now you're thinking there's no way A could do anything more embarrassing than what she's done already.... But you'd be so sorely wrong. A decided a couple months ago that she wanted to learn how to make adult friends, so we've been working on opening with a compliment or introducing yourself. To be completely frank, I'm an introvert with an extroverted daughter and she makes me talk to a lot of people i wouldn't otherwise have talked to. I don't mind so much when she makes new kid friends, but adults always launch into small talk with me after she introduces herself and it's exhausting. This skill is important though, so I encourage it when appropriate.

While we certainly didn't arrive in time to get a front row seat for the parade, we found a great spot near the popcorn cart in the hub that would work for both the parade and the fireworks. It was up against the rail of a planter box too, so we didn't have to feel guilty popping the kids up on our shoulders for the parade, either.
View attachment 318431
The headless horseman came, which I had read heralded in the parade
View attachment 318432
Bit there was no sign of the parade after the headless horseman was well and gone. The crowd cheered jovially when the CM in charge of sweeping up the horse poop came through, but we waited for the parade, and waited ... And waited..... And waited. People started leaving. The murmers were rumbling around about doubts on whether or not the parade was even coming. What if they cancelled it? Why did they send the horseman if they weren't sending the parade??! Finally a guy informed our section that the gap between the horseman and the parade was always this long because it all started in frontierland and the parade was just really slow.

A was hurting my shoulders i put her down by the stroller and went back to watching for the parade. When I turned to check on her, she had made an adult friend; a young woman who had dressed up as princess Jasmine. She introduced herself, complimented Jasmine, answered questions and asked some of her own. You wouldn't believe how proud i was of her and how relieved i was she was engaged in the small talk instead of me :hilarious::hilarious:
View attachment 318433
I turned around to watch for the parade again for a few minutes. When i looked back to check on A and Jasmine, I was horrified to see A stroking the coins on Jasmine's shirt, back and forth, right across her bewbs :banghead::jawdrop: I exclaimed "A!!! Stop!! You can't so that!! We talked about consent!! You can't just touch other people's bewbs!!" And the girl who clearly didn't want to get A into trouble said uncomfortably "it's okay,... She didn't mean anything by it...."

I was mortified. A apologized and then ran off talk to P. I apologized profusely to the girl for my daughter groping her, and then turned back to watch the parade. Guys..... I can't make this up.... I looked back to check on A.... And both A and P were stroking the coins on this poor woman's chest :banghead::banghead::jawdrop::jawdrop:

Me: A!!! We talked about this!! You can't...

A: BUT SHE SAID IT WAS OKAY!!!

Me: :bored::bored:

Apparently 3.5 is not old enough to understand that people sometimes say "it's okay" and mean something entirely different :hilarious::hilarious: This kid, man.... I was so relieved when the parade finally started coming through
View attachment 318434

Shortly after the parade ended, the fireworks started
View attachment 318435
And when they ended, it was super super late for the girls. We walked with the crowd down main street, returned the stroller, and caught the monorail to our bus stop. By the time we got the girls bathed and washed most of the red out of A's hair and off her little red face, it was almost midnight. Even when she's been sick, A has never been up that late before. Both her and P crashed immediately when their little heads hit the pillow.M and I showered quickly and then joined them.

Our thoughts on the Halloween Party.... Firstly, I had read that you shouldn't get in the treat lines because they were slow that was not our experience. All the lines went through moved rapidly and through some interesting theaters and landscapes. Secondly, the atmosphere of the party was so much more relaxed and happy than a normal park day. In my experience, you can't walk far in the Magic Kingdom without hearing guests yelling. Parents yelling their children. Parents yelling at each other. Guests yelling CMs. It feels like maybe people get stressed out trying to get their moneys worth. But at the Halloween party, everyone just send relaxed and wanting to enjoy the night and have a good time. And the family costumes were amazing!! Everyone was dressed up and the kids were all so adorable.

Just the ambiance alone was worth the party ticket. In fact, we saw a lot of elderly people sitting at tables around the park people watching and just enjoying the night. Add in the trick or treating and the rides being walk ons (even 7DMT was only 35 minutes) and it was definitely worth the cost. We all had a really great time. Well, except that poor Jasmine :cry:
Reading about your MNSSHP I saw making me so excited for my trip next week! Were you able to schedule FP for the couple hours before the party started, or did you have regular park tickets too?
