Wrapping Up

View attachment 319374

This trip to Disney was exhausting for all of us, but so much fun!! You know, with life taking a swing into left field, I think A and I both really needed this trip. Her favorite park was Hollywood Studios because she somehow loved the Slinky Dog roller coaster more than meeting the princesses. So there's hope for us, yet :hilarious::hilarious:

My favorite park was easily Animal Kingdom. The atmosphere, the street entertainment, the Tree of Life. It was all just really spectacular and I hope to explore it more on our next trip.

I had been worried about the heat and the rain, but in the end, neither of them bothered us at all. We pushed about a liter of water on each kid, drank about 1.5-2 liters ourselves, and hung out in the shade whenever possible. But this trip really made me put Ohio summers into perspective as well. Back home, when the heat reaches 90, I stay indoors. At Disney, it was in the low to mid 90s every day and it didn't slow us down. So next year, I'm determined to not be slowed down by summer, LOL

And lastly..... I want to close out this trip report by profusely thanking those on this forum that have sent support and happy thoughts my way when my life started going sideways. Thank you for your commiseration, fire, and constant reminders that this is not the end, it is merely a new beginning. Thank you for being a friend

I'm so glad you got a bit of a getaway. You so needed it and you earned it! Did you have some cheesecake? It's what friends do. ;)

Oh my...I am so not a fan of Piñatas! I used to think they sounded so cool. But I have two friends here from Mexico...they are sisters. And the one always has a piñata at her son's party and I can't tell you how nervous they make me now. This past August, one of the kids was beating it with the stick and the handle came off and the stick flew past my friend's head, missing her by less than an inch. She was SOOOO lucky it didn't hit her. And you start with the birthday kid and then go in order of age, youngest to oldest. My 2 are the 2 oldest....so they got right to DS and completely forgot about him and let the kid before him keep going until it broke open, so DS didn't get a turn. He was SOOOOOO upset and had a major meltdown. So they told him he could go first this year, after the birthday boy. But, they told him he couldn't hit hard because all the other kids needed a turn....so he didn't get a REAL turn. But by the end of the line, it still hadn't broken open, so they started through again, but skipped DS, because he had already had his "turn" at the beginning, and then it broke open and all the kids dove for the candy while DS was standing there freaking out about so much noise and flailing limbs. I had to dive in to grab a couple of things for him just so he could have SOMETHING.
In theory, they are a lot of fun, but they can cause a LOT of problems, and if there are any kids with special needs, it might not be the best idea. Just a heads up.

I like the more modern ones that have pull strings... and you take turns pulling pull strings and it's random who gets it that way... no big sticks... I want mine filled with Mini Rum bottles and Chocolates!

I have never seen this modern version!! That sounds SOOOOO much safer. We've had many close calls with the kind you hit. But my friend makes them herself. With little ones, you have to be careful that they don't get in the way of the big stick...they want to see it up close and don't understand it's dangerous, and the kid taking his turn isn't paying attention to whether or not there is a toddler standing there. Then this last time where the stick flew off the handle and flew right at my friend's head. It's just an accident waiting for a place to happen.
