For Women's Eyes Only

I was wondering if anyone could help. I am leaving in less than a week and after looking at my pictures from last year, I'm kind of worried. Every time I look at our honeymoon pictures all I see is sweaty hair in a pony tail, shiny face, and smudged mascara.
I know y'all have great tips in every other department (I've used a few) so now I'm reaching out to see if anyone has any tips when it comes to appearance and keeping it up while in Disney World.

How do some women keep from looking like they haven't bathed in 3 days???

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I did bathe everyday. (Just thought I should add that!)

First off, awesome thread!!!

I use the bare essentials make up, and I haven't had a problem since I switched to it. The blotting papers sound like a great idea (Clean & Clear makes a good alternative to the Clinique papers)!

As for the hair, I have very long, thick, and curly hair so it has taken me some time on this one! I use a really thick styling gel, kid's detangler to make sure that I get all the bumps out as I pull it back, and then I wear it in a slightly low ponytail (just above the nape of my neck). I wear it slightly low so when I am on a ride anything where I can lean back my ponytail won't be in an awkward place.

Thanks to everyone for sharing all of your great ideas and I hope this helps!!!

I too seem to instantly transform into a "frizzy blob" about 10 minutes after leaving the hotel room. However, I always see on every trip at least 1 woman, who at 2 in the afternoon looks completely fresh and put together...I am always stymied by this, and can't help wonder "how oh how does she do it??" I secretly despise this woman too!! LOL! Well...glad I'm not the only one who has this problem...good luck ladies and thanks for the tips!

And you don't have to carry the blotting papers with you. The bathrooms have the dispensers for the toilet seat covers. They are made of almost the same material and they can be used to blot the oil off your face. Saw that on a TV show and I tried it where I work! It does work. LOL

Great idea! Thanks for passing this information along.

Take pictures first thing in the morning before you look like you've been through a war. I can usually manage to leave my hair down for a little while in the morning but by the afternoon up it goes. I have long, fine hair but I have a ton of it so it gets tangeled quickly especially if it gets wet. On days I know I'm going to get wet I usually wear it in french pigtail braids. It looks cute and I don't have to worry about it all day long.

And agree with everyone who said water proof mascara and minimal make up!

I love how the women are banding together on this one!

Every one has different hair, so that's a tricky one. I have straight, thick, shoulder length hair. It doesn't have (or ever hold) any curl but I have a huge problem with frizz/flyaway. Sometimes it's like I have thick hair that acts like fine hair. A few products I have found to be helpful are the Control Freak line by Bed Head. I mostly love it for the smell (Pineapple!) It's a tad pricey but I keep it around for special or really humid occasions! There's a "serum" but I've never tried it, just the shampoo and conditioner:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000G3IGW0
(that's a pack of 2, it was the only good picture I could find, I bought mine at Rite Aid for about $10.)

The anti-frizz line by Dove. The anti-frizz control cream by Dove is particularly great:
http://www.dove.ca/hair/styling/antifrizz_finishing_cream

You can put it on wet OR dry hair, which is great. I always put it on my part before I blow dry and it seems to help with fly-aways.

also good is the Dove "therapy replenishing mist." It is a nice alternative to heavy, creamy conditioners that will weigh how your hair. It is light weight and can also be used on wet or dry hair. I often just shampoo and then follow with this spray:

Aussie makes a great hairspray, it even makes a joke about the humidity of Florida on the bottle, "12 hours of anti-humidity, even in Florida, in your Grandparent's car, with the A/C broken"

I have decided to not cut my hair short for this trip and just do a pony-tail. When I have short hair, I usually have a bob and it just ends up in my face as we are plunging down Splash Mountain. At least with the pony-tail I feel like I'm in control! I do suffer some the occasional pony-tail induced headache, but there are some ways around that like another posted suggested like 2 small ponytails, etc. I do wear a hat sometimes but mostly to keep the sun off my face. I'm one step up from albino and my face can only take so much sun! Also good are a sweat-proof and/or oil free sunscreen for your face. I noticed a huge difference when I started using the oil-free sunscreen, Neutrogena and Clinique both make some good options.

To the poster who said about buying the Clinique anti-shine lotion, I highly recommend it. It's great on my nose because it also makes your pores look smaller and I seem to always have that problem around my nose. As someone who still gets break outs at 25, it doesn't irritate my skin either.

I also forgot Burt's Bees chapstick with color. The tubes are pretty small and go right in your pocket and they are a no fuss way to have lipstick. I love them and use them all the time and I got my WDW travel buddy hooked on them too.

The toilet seat cover suggestion is hysterical. You know that there will be at least 8 of us trying it the next time we are in a public restroom!! lol I'll be one of them:)

I am in the car right now. I am dying to stop at a rest stop to get a toilet seat cover!!!!!!

As for cutting my powder, I just mix in some until it looks like the color of my Foundation.

I also find that if you do "little fixes" thru the day, then when you sit down for dinner and want to look fresh, you don't have to do that "big fix" then! KWIM?

I use a vintage special edition Mary Kay lipstick... I buy it whenever I find it on eBay. It is a matte, sort of neutral color which lasts ALL DAY! I call it my "vacation lipstick". I have the sort of face that needs lipstick. Not having to re-apply all day is so nice! It is MK So Cool - Malted Chocolate. (I am sacrificing a lot to share that... LOL!)

Also, I've been known to blow dry my sweaty hair in the restroom with the hand dryers... just getting dry hair next to my scalp often makes me feel fresher... at least until I sweat again! LOL!

Haha the poster who mentioned the toilet seat covers beat me to it! Coffee filters work wonders too (at my school, sorority rush is held in August and the weather is even stickier than Orlando; the girls hand out coffee filters so the rushees can blot away. Quite clever!)

As others have said, hair is so different it depends on what you have. I have curly hair that straightens very easily (no flat irons here) and I've found the best thing for me to do is wash it in the morning, put some mousse in it and pull it back while it's still wet. This gives me a nice, sleek look when it dries and helps keep any frizzies in check. I usually go for a braid or what my family calls a 'Tinkerbell' bun... always cuter than a ponytail with my hair  Also, keep some bobby pins in your purse so if anything stray away, you can quickly pin it back.

The tinted Burt's Bees chapstick is a lifesaver in the parks; immediately perks up your face. The rest of makeup products I just forgo in WDW. With all the elements working against you, it's easy for the makeup to end up making you look worse, unless you touch it up regularly. I also use Clear Difference, an oil control hydrator from Estee Lauder and it's pretty miraculous! It holds up here in Gainesville and keeps my face from melting off

The best tip is take the most pictures early in the day, or when you come back from an afternoon break.

My survival kit includes a foundation powder compact, a color tinted Burt Bee's chapstick, and I usually take a hair band with some bobby pins in case I need to do an up-do on the fly in the parks, which I have done.

I had the worst pictures the 2 years I went in August. Between the humidity and Kali River Rapids...it was just bad.

This mac Shadestick is the best stuff ever. YOu can wear it either by itself or use it as a base and place shadow on top. It even stays on when I am itching my eyes and definitely has stayed on all day in the middle of August in a park. I tend not to wear anything else as far as make up other than some lip gloss with SPF since my lips burn easily.

As for the hair... I never do much. Let it down in the morning and then into a bun it usually goes but I am not very high maintainence so maybe I am not the right person to be asking

I know what you mean , sometimes make-up just fades. I usually use an all day lip stick and just use Vaseline lip balm to relubricate since the color stays on. If you use aprimer under your foundation such as Ulta or Sephora, it makes it last all day:sohappy: thank God it's Disney an weare all in the same boat!!

Take make-up for touch-ups.
Apply powder frequently.
Take a stick of deoderant & apply it several times during the day.
Take a small bottle of body spray to squirt on yourself from time to time.
You may also want to take an extra change of light-weight clothing in case your clothes get wet or if you have sweated a little too much.
As far as your hair, if it is long, take a small brush w/ you & brush "underneath" your hair for a fresh look. If you have long bangs or hair that is all one length, you could push the hair out of your face w/ a bobby pin type barrette.
Hope this helps!
