For Women's Eyes Only

I was wondering if anyone could help. I am leaving in less than a week and after looking at my pictures from last year, I'm kind of worried. Every time I look at our honeymoon pictures all I see is sweaty hair in a pony tail, shiny face, and smudged mascara.
I know y'all have great tips in every other department (I've used a few) so now I'm reaching out to see if anyone has any tips when it comes to appearance and keeping it up while in Disney World.

How do some women keep from looking like they haven't bathed in 3 days???

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I did bathe everyday. (Just thought I should add that!)

I have short hair, but it still look a mess in the Florida heat & humidity so a hat is a must. As for the melting makeup... I don't wear any most of the time so I can't help you there. I have seen women with make-up wipes in the restrooms and then they re apply.

Lol lol lol lol. I am so glad I am not the only person that thinks about this. I cut my bangs so o can at least straighten and side sweep them. That way when my hair is in a ponytail it at least has the stylish part and bangs.

I buy my Clinique powder a shade to dark and cut it with cornstarch. I literally press it into my oily areas then dust my face as notmal with a powder brush. I know this sounds nuts, but it keeps you fresh longer.

Use clear mascara it won't run.

Retouch during potty breaks!!

I use a tinted moisturizer rather than powder or foundation -- it doesn't melt off my face

If you need to wear eye make-up, I suggest MAC Paints. It's like an eye shadow primer that doesn't budge. Also use liquid eyeliner instead of a pencil and, of course, water proof mascara.

Lastly, two words ... blotting papers :)

Now, as for hair, I just don't "do" it. I wash and go and use a bit of an anti-frizz (I really like Sunsilk). I also use headbands, ballerina bands, ponytails, etc.

Hope some of this helps :)

Like previous poster stated, I too very seldom where much make-up--just not me. I wear a little eye shadow, blush and I only wear mascara when we go out for special dinners, etc. In Florida, I wear only eye shadow and blush and I either put my hair up in a ponytail, use a little hair spray and put on a hat, or I have long hair and diffuse it and let it be kinky/curly.

There is no use in me even trying in the humidity with my frizzy Florida hair but I never heard of the cornstarch trick and I use Clinique gentle glow (darker than normal for down there since I get so tan) I carry my powder and touch it up cause my nose looks like Rudolph..:ROFLOL:I do not wear foundation just the powder, when you say cut it, how much do you use??

Can't help on the hair - it is a pony tail for me all the time! Wear light makeup though. I also love those clean and clear blotters. Not sure of the real name, but you can fit the pack in your pocket and you just take out one sheet and blot. It takes the shine and oil away, but leaves your make up in tact.

Finally a thread I can help with. I hate looking like crap in pictures that will haunt me for years in scrapbooks. Our first trip to WDW was great but it was also hot and wet and our pictures show it!! I didn't know I was so vain until I saw how scary I looked in WDW, I was giving Cruella a run for her money!! In WDW I wear coverup for my undereye darkness and loose powder, blush, mascara, lip liner and juicy tube lip gloss with SPF. I have found lip stick just fades or melts off, eyeliner/shadow get messy with sweat or from tearing up (ie., wind from roller coster, allergys, my kids seeing Mickey for the 1st time and of course when we leave to go home). The coverup/powder combo is very light but does the job and keeps the shine down. The lip liner stays on much longer than a tube lip stick and the gloss is great for SPF. My favorite lipsitck melted in WDW on our first trip and I was SOL for the week. I used q-tips to get it out of the lip so I could have some. I use the face powder on my eye lids in lieu of eyeshadow. I make a point to try and touch up when I go to the bathroom, I could be one of the women the PP saw in there:wave:. I use Max Factor Pan stick, Clinque loose powder (in a travel loose powder container from Sephora), Clinque blush, Chanel very black waterproof mascara, NYC (used to be Wet and Wild) lip liner and Juicy Tubes by Lancome lip gloss. All seem to hold up in heat, humity and water rides. I touch up 1 to 2 day and look somewhat cute in our family pictures. As for hair I do a pony with a side part. My hair is wavy/stright and long so I use gel when it is wet comb it well (to get rid of stiffness) and put it up then finish with hairspray (paul mitchell on both counts) it stays put and the gel helps with the hair line frizzes. I also keep thoose tiny bottles of Bath and Body Works body sprays in my make up bag. You know the travel size by the register, they work wonders to cool you off and leave you smelling light and clean not heavy and perfumy.
I have found in pictures that lip color and a nice matte finish on your face are the most noticable things (at least on me). I have never used the blotting papers but probally need too, that could save me some touch ups. BTW all of these things fit well into a smaller make up bag that also holds my medication/gum/room key and money. So I am not toting a salon around the parks. My diaper bag is enough crap I don't need extra from my make up bag:p.

I've tried for years to get my long, straight hair to not go frizzy in Disney. It didn't happen to me in March or December, only in the summer months.

My best solution is putting it in cute braids. You won't sweat as much if it's off your shoulders & out of your face. Braids stay cute all day and can't get frizzy, whereas ponytails still sometimes get frizzy in the back.

For makeup - where minimal makeup if you are comfortable with it. Bring a compact of powder to touch up if you feel oily. Wear clear mascara if you want to wear mascara. I wear sunglasses all day in WDW usually so I don't bother w/eye makeup.

Lastly, if you're on property, you can always go back to your room and touch up during the day when the crowds are at their height. We always take breaks, and that's when I usually change tops because my first one is so gross from the heat.

I have to 2nd (or 3rd? 4th?) the blotting papers. As someone with super sensitive skin, I can't keep applying powder or my face would be a trainwreck by the end of the week!

Here's another good product I've used before. I'm going to be buying more before my trip in October, it controls shine in the t-zone area:

http://www.clinique.com/templates/p...l?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY4919&PRODUCT_ID=PROD869

clinique also sells the oil blotting sheets but they are a bit more pricey than others you will find at the drug store. I haven't seen a product similar to the shine control lotion though and you only need to use a dab of it. If you live near a Bon-Ton they are running a gift with purchase promo right now that is nice.

I have long curly hair and it is very unrulely in general. Nothing changes in the Happiest Place on Earth so...

I wear Minnie ears. Not sure if you are a fan of minnie ears or not:shrug:, but that has been the absolute best solution for me. I always start the day with my hair down (sometimes still wet) and use the minnie ears as a headband. Then later in the day when I get hot or tired of my hair down, I just pull it up in a messy bun or cute pigtails and keep my minnie ears on. This way my hair may look a little crazy but the minnie ears make it cute. I have minnie ears in a few different colors (Silver sequins, black with red bow, Black light up with animal print bow, plain light up, and minnie santa hat:xmas:) so I have choices for each day to match my outfit as best I can.

As for make-up, I can't help in that department. I do not wear any foundation. Only a bit of eye shadow usually.

The minnie ears are also VERY CUTE in pictures!!! I think I am going to get the princess minnire ears while there in October:sohappy:.

DEFINATELY H2O proof Mascara. I wouldnt bother with eye shadow, it's not noticeable in pictures. If you dont like shiny lips but want color, Soft Lips (any MANY other brands) of lip balm have tinted balm with SPF. I am a lip stick snob and WILL NOT bring my good lip wear to the park. I bring the tinted lip balm and buy it in a nice dark shade and it always looks great in pictures. Before your picture, run your fingers through your hair (if it's down) from the top side to comb it down a bit. IF you have a bottle of H2O, get a little bit and smooth it over the top of your hair to tame fly aways long enough to snap a picture. AND, LOOK FOR SHADE! Even a little shade will help reduce shiny moments in a picture.

hmmmm let's see--

For shine-
*Clean & Clear oil papers are absolutely fabulous
* Similar to corn starch, baby powder also works and I feel more comfortable putting that on my skin because my face is pretty sensitive. I just dust it as a base before I put on the rest of my makeup (baby powder also absorbs sweat ;))
* Sally Hansen translucent powder is the best stuff I've ever found... it's super cheapo but it's a better powder than ANY brand I've tried- that, over my MAC foundation holds up super well

I don't usually have problems with eyeliner or mascara, so I'd say just shoot for waterproof

For hair-
* While I was living down there I could never find anything that worked, so it was usually just a hat or a messy bun BUT I finally found something that works for me on my last trip down! Someone (on these boards) mentioned that hair gets frizzy when it doesn't have enough moisture. So I hit up a bunch of Redken products and they actually held up to the humidity fairly well!! Of course, it's so hot that I usually ended up putting my hair up half way through the day just to keep cool

and last but not least, the ultimate savior for scary looking pictures....

PHOTOSHOP :D

My busters-

Makeup: Waterproof mascara is an absolute MUST!!! Sunscreen with a thinner layer of powder and a dash of blush and some lipgloss actually get me through the day. I just reapply powder right before I'm going to take a picture. In line for a character? Quick go over with powder and more lipgloss. Very natural, and if it comes off a bit, it won't be the worst thing in the world. If you don't do Foundation, your skin won't feel as suffocated, and you won't feel as bad splashing/spritzing/wiping a little bit of water on your face to cool down.

Hair- Doing ponytails is fine, but do a little more with them. Make some smaller braids that go into the pony. Or do double ponytails (one on top of the other), or double messy buns (again, one above the other). Cute headbands and ribbons are an absolute must for me as well. They give more visual interest to your updos, and make them a bit different each day- even if they're the same 'do! Oh, and half ponies can be a lifesaver too.

Ooh a thread on my two favorite topics - Disney and makeup!

The biggest tip I can give is blinc mascara (I think in the US its called blinc kiss me mascara, dunno what kissing has to do with mascara though!).

I've tested this stuff out and believe me, it doesn't budge, until you want it to! I have very sensitive eyes and hate wearing waterproof mascara because I have to use something stronger to get it off, but this blinc stuff comes off with water and pressure together. It paints little tubes around your lashes and no amount of rubbing will make it smudge, and it wont run when it gets wet (great for splash mountain! :D )

I think you can get it in Sephora in the US (Oh how I wish we had Sephora here...). They also do a eye liner too - I've not tried that yet but will be getting it when I am over there in two weeks, so fingers crossed its as good :)

Oh, and I would also second what a previous poster said about MAC paints/paint pots. If you use them as a base your eye shadow stays for hours.

I have curly hair, but I wear it straight in the fall/winter, and even when we go to wdw in november every year...I still either wear it in a braid or scrunch it and just pull it back...it still looks cute either way. As for the make-up part... I barely use anything but eyeliner, mascara, and chapstick. I couldn't really put any powder or foundation on my face down in FL because I have oily skin...it just wouldn't be good.

I am really thinking about buying that Clinique pore minimizer lotion for my trip this year.

I live in SW FL and BIOSILK and a GOOD flat iron is all it takes to keep my thin hair sleek and smooth :). As for makeup, I look like someone punched me in the eyes in most of our pics too:lol:.

And you don't have to carry the blotting papers with you. The bathrooms have the dispensers for the toilet seat covers. They are made of almost the same material and they can be used to blot the oil off your face. Saw that on a TV show and I tried it where I work! It does work. LOL

As for wearing hats to hide your hair? They are just to hot and then you end up with hAT hair if you don't have time to wash and blow dry before gong to dinner or a club. LOL

As for hair, I live here and I am old , but have decided a good shorter layered cut is the way to go. Got it cut 3 years ago and wonder why I lived for 50+ years with chin or shoulder length hair. LOL This is so much easier. I don't even bring a comb to the parks. All I have to do is run my fingers through it and it goes back into place. My hair never frizzes and has no natural curl so I don't have that problem, though.
