Of course I use flash... how else would you get your pictures to turn out this magical?

I'm a decent, considerate person so I make an allowance for the person who doesn't know how to shut off the flash--once.

I think this is the key. I'm as considerate as most of you, but occasionally I'll take a pic, thinking my flash is off, only to find that it was on. It's not cool to bombard a person the very first time this happens. But if it's repeated, then all bets are off.

How about one more choice...

NO, I don't take pictures on dark rides... I enjoy the ride and see it as it unfolds not through a lens.

That solves the problem for everyone. With the internet there are so many chances to see things, permanently and professionally photographed, that taking picture of anything other then family in front of attractions is an exercise in foolishness. Living life is so much more enjoyable then capturing tiny pieces on film or in pixels.

Speak for yourself.

People who use flash photography on dark rides are at the top of my irrational 'Disney Guests I Hate' list
True story...

Back when they had the Chronicles of Narnia thing going on at HS (which was then replaced by the Jack Sparrow thing), I accidentally took a flash picture. Talk about looking like a total jerk. We had walked into the "museum" type area where there were props, etc, and they had a little speil before showing some clips of the movie. The CM who was doing the speaking says "no flash photography" so what do I do...hold the camera above my head (I was trying to get a picture of something so it looked like I was looking down on it) and take a picture...FLASH...I honestly thought I had turned the flash off...

The holding of the camera above my head was the icing on the cake.

On rare occasions, when a ride pauses for a moment, there are always those guest who pull of the phones and try to bend as far out of their ride vehicle to take pictures, even when the monitor just said "Stay seated as your ride will continue shortly." I mean I understand why people may think that they should take pictures, but I'm the kind of person who would get annoyed by that.

Edit: I never take flash pictures, since I find that rude to the guests around me.

Ghost Host: "Oh yes, and no flash photography. We spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights."

Sebastian can say something similar.
IASW & Splash would need signs.

Thankfully, I've never experienced flash on Peter or Pooh.

Not only is it annoying, but a flash absolutely destroys all the painstaking hours spent getting the lighting and theme just right.

very true...
and the difference so stark, i'm perplexed it's done as often as it is.

...

at wdw, of all the rides i still frequent, the folks on pirates seem to roll with flash like it's their job...
enjoying without distraction became the exception; well over half of my rides are disrupted by flash(es) and/or glowing phones. i actually anticipate it now and that's sad.

I never used a flash on a ride but I'm also at the point where I really don't take ride photos anymore. I'd try and take (non-flash) photos on our early trips or as I got a new camera to get that "better" photo, or maybe with the kids in the shot on their first trips. But not so much lately. Between having enough from past trips, being able to find much better photos online from folks who know who take a photo, and simple wanting to enjoy the ride, I don't really need to these days.

Our last trip I got us a GoPro so I'll take that on the ride instead (screen and all indicators all off, so it's basically invisible) and sorta hold it in front my chest or somewhere that won't bother another guest. That way I can watch the ride with my own eyes, but still get still a video of essentially the same view or a view of us/the kids on it. Dark rides aren't the greatest but the kids love being able to watch some rides like Frozen at home and got some really great perspective shots on coasters and such.
