Filtered Water Bottles?

Hi all!

Our trip is quickly approaching and we could not be more excited! :sohappy:

We drink a lot of water and end up spending so much money on buying water bottles. Everyone always tells us to just refill them at water fountains but I cannot take the taste and smell of the water-the sulfur content is insane!

I'm wondering what your opinions are on filtered water bottles for those of you who have tried them.
Do they actually work?
Do they mask the taste and smell of that oh so lovely Florida water?
Are they not even worth it and should stick to buying the Dasani bottles?

Thanks a lot!!!

Theee bottles appear to be safe because they do not impart any taste or odor to the water. Lexan polycarbonate is also used to make compact discs and DVDs, bulletproof windows, mobile phones, and computers. The water delivery company sent my reader a notice saying that their Lexan polycarbonate bottles are perfectly safe to use. They suggested their customers visit a website that was designed to portray this plastic in a positive light.

Yippee! I am SO excited for your trip!! YEAH!!

We used a filtered water bottle one year. They totally worked, but the water was always so warm. That is the only problem we had with using the water bottle. And why after a long afternoon, we lugged around the filtered water bottle but still ended up buying a nice cold bottle of water. They do mask the taste and smell of that lovely Florida water! :hurl: I think I am going to bring it on my next trip with my mom b/c she literally sips water all day - and she refills her bottle with fountain water. And she doesn't care if it is warm or not. She is just a sipper. So I am going to bring it for her to use. But to answer your initial question - yes, they totally work!

this is the one that we got:

Another vote for the Bobble. I bought us filters to match the refillable mug colors I want to get  The only issue I have is the bottle itself is not incredibly durable, mine is scratched up from daily use, but I would guess most people do not drop their possessions on asphalt as regularly as I do.

We ALWAYS use filtered water bottles - ours are the older Brita - you can still get them and the filters on ebay. The one thing that's nice about the older ones - they have a bigger opening so you can get a cup of ice in there easily, fill it half full of water = ice water all the time. ANY Disney kiosk or counter service will give you a cup of ice (with or without water) at no charge. Just ask - they're more than willing to do it. We save a ton on beverages and we're drinking ice cold, good tasting water, whenever we want.

I got a brita water bottle at Target last week. It dose make Dothan AL tap water taste better. Some reviews said that there bottles leaked and had to remove the strap, I had no such trouble with mine. Maybe they were not vary strong and didnt tighten the cap enough. The only draw back I have with mine is it sweats a lot. Need to find a coozy for it.

Just to add, in addition to the Bobble and Brita filtered bottles, there are also Camelbak ones on the market now, they come in BPA-free plastic or stainless.. I saw them at Target, one endcap down from the Bobbles

The Bobble sounds pretty cool. My daughter and I personally have no problem drinking the water out of the fountains at Disney, so I usually bring a water bottle then refill it as needed from the drinking fountains.

But I saw on another forum this item today, a folding water bottle! Sounds perfect for us!

Oh yeah! Meant to update here! I got my 32 oz. Bobble last week and loooove it! Water tastes wonderful! I fill it in the evening before bed then pop it in the fridge. The next morning when it's time to run/walk it's all set to go nice and chilly. All my guys like it, too, so I ordered a 32 oz. and the next smaller size (18 oz. ?) for everyone. We all will have 2. These will be great for WDW and the cruise.

Even though I have another model of filtered water bottle, I got the new brita ones over the weekend for my mom and I for our trip in two weeks. I like the shape of the brita ones better. For example, I have a mountain climber clip thingy that is in the shape of Mickey that holds a water bottle. It didn't fit the other kind I had so I got the brita and it fits. (sorry - I clearly don't know what to call the mickey water bottle holder thingy - but essentially a rubber ring fits over the top of the water bottle and then a mickey shaped carabiner thingy clips onto your bag) I'm excited to try them out!

I got a Bobble for our trip next week and will try it out. I do plan on bringing another plain water bottle so that I can put my filtered water in there and use a Crystal Lite packet when I want something other than water.
