Filtered Water Bottles?

Hi all!

Our trip is quickly approaching and we could not be more excited! :sohappy:

We drink a lot of water and end up spending so much money on buying water bottles. Everyone always tells us to just refill them at water fountains but I cannot take the taste and smell of the water-the sulfur content is insane!

I'm wondering what your opinions are on filtered water bottles for those of you who have tried them.
Do they actually work?
Do they mask the taste and smell of that oh so lovely Florida water?
Are they not even worth it and should stick to buying the Dasani bottles?

Thanks a lot!!!

I never take any Water into the parks, because that way I don't have to wait in the bag check line. I agree that the water in the fountains is not that good, which is why I never use them. Whenever I need some water I just go up to one of the refreshment stands that sells fountain soda and ask for a cup of ice water. It doesn't cost anything and the water is nice and cold.

I have a Bobble and I absolutely love it. I haven't used it at Disney yet, but it works well with our awful tap water. Each filter lasts about 2 months and you they can be recharged by boiling.

Ooo a Bobble hmm I need to look into this-it sounds great! Thank you very much. Does it mask scents and tastes?

I've never tried any other type, so I have nothing to compare it too, but I think it does a great job. FWIW, I can't tell the difference between Bobble water and bottled water.

I got my bobble from Target. It was pretty cheap, abound $10 or so. Replacement filters cost almost the same, but 2 will last you about a year, since you can alternate and recharge them.

That said, Disney's water is a lot stronger than where I live, so it might not be a bad idea to bring some of those individual powder drink mixes.

I need to try this Bobble, too...sounds great. It would be great for work, too.

We usually throw water bottles in our luggage and then if we need to refill them, we ask for cups of ice and put it into the water bottles. The ice is good and melts to a decent tasting drinking water. I can't see spending $3 a water bottle at Disney when a case is $5. It's just my mentality, I guess. We drink a lot of water when we are in Disney so taking bottles works for us. I will try the Bobble, too...good advice.

Let us know. I'm interested in seeing if it's a feasible option. If I can get out of hauling six or eight bottles in my backpack at all times (A pint's a pound the world around, ya know?) by having a couple of these, I'd be ecstatic.

Cheers,
Indy

I've read on another forum about people using these Bobbles on Disney Cruise Line instead of paying thirty-some-odd bucks for a case of nasty Evian onboard. My thing isn't just that I prefer water that tastes good, I like to mix my Crystal Light packets in. I'm sure that's not okay with the Bobble filter so I'm still thinking on this. I've read great reviews. Even with families, they make the filters in different colors so each person gets a color so you know whose is whose....like the medicine bottle collars they do at Target. Love that!

If anyone has tried on at Disney or will be in the near future pleeeeaaaase come back and give a review. I'm intrigued!

To the OP, my solution in the past was to order bottled water and soda from Garden Grocer and have that delivered to our resort on arrival day. We carry at least one backpack or bag no matter what so it's no big deal to throw a bottle or 2 in for the parks.

My sister has it and we were speaking about it yesterday. She said it works well. My nephew (17) said he doesn't like the taste of the water from it but my sister doesn't notice a difference from regular bottled water. I imagine it would be very useful when out and about. Plus I work in a school and I can just refill at the water fountain.

The filtered bottles filter the water as you drink, and you can't put the powdered mixes into the water.

But, you could theoretically fill up the bottle, and then squeeze the water out through the filter into a second empty bottle and then use THAT to make your mixed drink.

I've seen the Bobble bottles at Target and was thinking of getting one. I have an old Britta sports bottle that did the same thing, but I think they stopped making the filters for it a long time ago.
