Figment Meet and Greet - Here it Comes!

CAF.JPG

If you tried to peek into the building formerly known as "Cameras and Film", you'd not be able to see anything through the blackened out windows.

Within the next year, the cozy shop where you used to see Dreamfinder and FIGMENT on rainy days, located at the east side of the "Imagination!" pavilion complex, will become the location of a brand new FIGMENT attraction: "FIGMENT'S PLACE"!

Scheduled to open in early 2005, this will be the home of a "meet-and-greet" location where you can get your photo taken with a larger than life-size FIGMENT! This location promises to become a focal point for FIGMENT fans, as well as a place where you can buy your picture taken with this stand-up FIGMENT character.

We will have more details about this exciting development in the coming months, so stay tuned!

What are your thoughts? How would you design it? Do you think this design (giant Figment) would work? Or would you prefer the more interactive Dreamfinder/puppet form?

Post your ideas! :)

I think they should work on the Imgination ride...and then worry about a Figment meet and greet....its funny that the first new imagination rides didn't have Figment in them...and now that he's in the ride again...they're thinking about a meet and greet...I don't know what that shows, but its very interesting the changes that take place...

I don't know if I could handle a "Larger than Life" Figment. I'm so use to the small and "realistic" Figment. I would like to see him (and Dreamfinder) back home.

i wish it had dreamfinder and figment... the pair together doing meet and greets was so funny and i think that looking back on the experience, it was the single most fun character meet and greet i've ever had... others have come close, but after that one i was smiling and laughing for hours:sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Alas, Dreamfinder's opportunity for a "larger-than-life" comeback has faltered yet again... :( Of course I'd prefer the pair together, but after the JIYIv.2 fiasco, more Figment is always better than no Figment... :)

A "larger than life" Figment actually sounds a bit... scary. They need to keep him small because that's the way it's always been. And they HAVE to have Dreamfinder there. I loved watching those two interact with the kids back in the day. They were so funny and amusing.

BRING BACK DREAMFINDER!!!

Dreamfinder was one hairy dude. He held Figment in his arms, and Figment was about the size of a duck. (Not Donald Duck, but an ordinary down on the farm duck - maybe I should have said chicken)

Anyway, that is the size of figment will always be in my mind, so I am not sure what to think about "larger than life sized Figment." :dazzle: Figment on steroids?

I like the thought of taking another step to commitment to the ongoing presence of Figment in EPCOT and expecially at the Imagination Pavilion.

Best case scenario - they design a robotic Figment capable of speaking in that unique Figment voice and interacting with guests.
To ice the cake, they could install the old upstairs rainbow tunnel in the room where the meet and greet will occur.

Worst case scenario: Dragon-like characters union goes on strike and WDW hires ugly dinosaur character from Chester and Hester area of DAK to cross picket line and be promoted into role of "New Figment." Aaaaa!

Doubtful on the interactive animatronic Figment, but.... is Billy Barty (the voice of Figment) still around?

And I SO miss that rainbow tunnel! That was one of my fave things at the old Image Works.

Looks like it's inevitable that we can't talk about anything new Figment until the place is spirtually fixed!

Looks like this can't be accomplished unless. . .

  1. Dreamfinder comes back.
  2. The ride is redone right w/good budget
  3. The Image Works upstairs reopens with fresh new and just-as-creative areas
    [/list=1]

But, heck, I'll settle for Dreamfinder now. At least it would show that Disney cares about its characters, stories, and guests.

    Unfortunately, Billy Barty passed away.

(BTW - they are trying to design a full-size costume)

I think a meet and greet would be ok as long as Figment isn't just a big statue. I think for Figment to be interactive he needs to be about the same size as other characters, but it would be best to be on the smaller size.

Well it's nice to see that Fig is gettin more respect now.

Btw Grizz, any more plans for bringing Dreamfinder back? I have a huge robot army just waiting to be used:lol: . But in all seriousness, do you have any other plans?

Well, personally, I think that ANY Figment is a good Figment, so a "Meet and Greet" area sounds great! I'd like to see Dreamfinder come back, though. Figment and Dreamfinder were irresistible together.

Umm...

Was Dreamfinder with Figment cool? YES!

Figment is small...YES

Stitch is small, Tinkerbell is small, Flik is small, Chip and Dale are small....Figment is small. Size doesn't matter :lookaroun

(BTW...can't Figment be as big, small, tall, thin, etc. as he wants to be?)

That's what I was thinking. You're right, but I think a 6 ft. Figment would terrify the kids. I mean, he is a dragon (kinda).

I want them to do a new ride where Channing sends Figment into Institute's storage area to find an 'intruder'. We see a bunch of props from the original ride, and as we follow Figgy through rooms they come back to life. At the last room (the big WOW room) the wall drops and we see a fully articulated Dreamfinder with Figment in hand. Channing appears on a screen welcoming Dreamfinder and all is right in the world.

That's my dream though...

If it were my way, well, I think I'd get rid of the Institute all together. It just hasn't worked. If the entire thing is reworked into a giant immersion into Imagination with WOW-factors galore and the characters Figment and Dreamfinder, then guests will actually come visit the pavilion.

You're correct, Freak, Figment can do these things . . . but I think an interactive puppet would be so much better.

For example, ever remember the Dreamfinder taking guests' hats off and flinging them? :D
