Figment Meet and Greet

OK I would love Dreamfinder back also but not happening. So how about this idea for the meet and great. Same old puppet, cause really Fig was great at that size, being helped around by a "Institute" staff member. It would be the same type of thing and who ever the staff member was would have to be a good puppeter, so that would make it a bit better.

Does that also mean they are going to move the Figment merch. out there?

Yep, I remember...and I loved it...but Dreamfinder is not coming back :(

I am all for this Figment. I've always wanted to get my pic taken with him...the only one I have is from WAY back (with the puppet)...but now, you'll be able to get his autograph...and for some reason, I can picture his autograph having a paintbrush...

Figgy doesn't have to be the size of Brer Bear...he could be the size of Stitch.

Now...if only we can have Pete's Dragon, Elliot, walking around the parks...

Ya know...maybe if they did something with Institute feel of the attraction, he could fit back in there somewhere...

Here's hoping.

I would love to see dreamfinder back too but it would be useless. since hes not even mentioned in the attraction people wouldnt know who he even is. they would know figment but whos that weird looking guy holding him.??? it makes sense to just bring in figment but a giant one???? now thats crazy. he will just be like puff the magic dragon or some other fictional dragon

Disn't the Dreamfinder preformers end up getting cases of carpal tunnel from the way the figment puppet was preformed. I figure Disney just doesn't want to end up having cast get hurt on the job, that's why Tapestry seems to not be coming back. As for my idea of Figment's size, I think he'll be inbetween Mickey size and Goofy size. And yes for god's sake Disney, bring Dreamfinder back. And maybe add some helpers, or apprentices in the dreamport *cough*Dreamseekers*cough*. And obliterate the Institute theme, it never seemed as imaginative as it's name suggests.

Well, that's what I mean...he's not USELESS! He's just not "mentioned"... In the ride preshow...Channing says, "Figment is DISCOVERED in the lab" So...we need to find Figment's daddy and bring him back!

I always used to get my picture taken with Figment AND DREAMFINDER! You can't have a picture with one and not the other. And Figment's big now? That won't look right next to all of my old pics where he's smaller than me. Oh well, at least it'll be great to have Figment back, even in this weird mutated form.

New attractions (i.e. JIYI) have nothing to do with their predecessors in most cases. Dreamfinder would be "new" just as Channing was in 1999. And the ride hardly visited anyway. :brick:

Is there a link to more info about the old Imagination rides? I have only been on the latest version, but have heard so much about all the controversy about the changes. I don't know who Dreamfinder is at all except from the drawings and pictures I have seen here. How was he a part of the old ride?

netenyahoo - you're in luck because later this summer, Figment's Imagination (www.figmentsimagination.com) and Friends of Figment (www.friendsoffigment.org) will be focusing their sites on the original attraction!

Check out both sites for information and video (until they are greatly updated in the coming weeks/month), and further video can be found at www.intercot.com.

For now, these links should prove to be the most useful:

http://www.figmentsimagination.com/story1.html
http://www.figmentsimagination.com/vault.html

Or I, the General, can give you a virtual AIM tour any day Sunday through Wednesday of next week. :p

What are your thoughts? How would you design it? Do you think this design (giant Figment) would work? Or would you prefer the more interactive Dreamfinder/puppet form? /QUOTE]

The fact that they are doing anything is a good sign. Hard to detemine which is better, as all we know if Figment in puppet size, which was comparable to the ride.

Not sure how a GIANT Figment fits in, unless you use your IMAGINATION (horrid pun, I know) :D

Was the puppet Figment great? Yep...sure was...and I can see it catching on again!

Larger figment: Granted, not as "playful" and "different" as the puppet Figment...but kids will still enjoy it because it will be "huggable"

Thanks for all the info Grizz. The old ride seems to have more story and theme to it than the senses in the ride now. There is a lot more to imagination than just senses.

I remember years ago going to the Imagination Pavillion and seeing Dreamfinder with Figment. There is a picture of me somewhere, around the age of 10 or 11, with me next to Dreamfinder and Figment kissing me on the cheek. It is one of my most vivid memories of trips there as a child to this day. When I took my own kids to Epcot last August for the first time, I hadn't known about the changes to the ride so I was disappointed that my kids didn't get the real Imagination ride, just some imposter ride. I still go on it when I am there, but only to see Figment. I talked to a CM outside Imagintaion that had a Figment puppet(not the old style one, more like a plushie puppet) and he was talking about all the changes that were made and said that Disney had to pay extra cash out for Dreamfinder because he was not originally a Disney property and that was why Eisner ordered the changes to the ride. I don't know if that's really what happened, but this guy seemed to know what he was saying so I have no reason to doubt him about that.

Sometimes I think that people are just against Eisner and take everything that was done as an attack against him. I will admit the new attraction is not a shadow of its former self, but I think some times the complaints are just against anything they do. Do I think a meet and greet idea will be good? Yes. The kids and most adults that ride the attraction won't be standing in line going "This would be so much better if Dreamfinder was here". I think that you need to realize dreamfinder won't be coming back, and that you need to look at anything they do with figment as positive. Be grateful that they redid the ride at all after the first attempt. We could still be figmentless.

I love Figment and Dreamfinder..........but this meet and greet thing is unnecessary. They should just reopen Image Works and even leave it the way it is. It was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool. I loved that place!!!!!!!!!! That's my opinion. A larger than life Figment just wouldn't seem right.

Dreamfinder is needed in the pavillion and the ride. He was created to balance Figment's artistic and fun loving imagination, because Dreamfinder had a more scientific imagination. The Channing character just doesn't cut the job.
