Favorite & least favorite resorts...

My Favorite is AKL. I have stayed at that Resort everytime time I have visited since it's open and I still cannot get enough of it! (I actually have a picture of the resort on the background of my computer:ROFLOL:). I have always had great service, and of course, wonderful themeing and food!

My least fav (if I can pick a least fav) would be All Star- Movies. For staying in a value resort, I like the Pop Century much better, but every hotel on site offers a different and unique experience. I guess it really depends on how much you will use the resort's facilities while staying on property verses what you are willing to pay.

My very favorite is AKL. There is simply nothing like waking up and walking out onto your balcony to see the giraffes getting fed. The lobby there is, in my opinion, the most beautiful of all the resorts. My sentimental favorite, however, is POR. It's a quiet and relaxing place. I like that it has several quiet pools in addition to the big pool at Ol' Man Island... I like that the units are spread out and you are in a room with only a few other units rather than in a huge hotel type resort. I love the theming and lush pathways. Finally, and very importantly, the bus service there is the best of all the resorts in my opinion.

My least favorite is All Star Sports. I can see where kids would like it, yes, but it feels too boxy for me. There weren't a lot of tall trees there to provide shade so everything feels like its in the bright sun. There's just that one very large very noisy pool. The walls of the rooms seem paper thin... you hear everything through them... the food court is a madhouse, and if felt unclean.

I have a tie for my Favorite:
Wilderness Lodge: The location is perfect. 6032 is the best room in the place. Thank god I got to stay in that room twice. The building it self is EPIC! The pool and theming are great. I love the background music also.

Beach Club Villas: Again great theming. I love a bit north of Cape May which is what it is themed after and I think it is spot on. I love the location of the hotel. So close to epcot that you can walk. How great is that. The bus stop is never an issue always buses there.

The least favorite:
Yacht Club: I have seem more smiles in a morgue. I feel sad when I walk in. Its the less fun version of the Beach Club. Polar opposites.

Least fave:
ALL STAR SPORTS:
reason: because when we stayed there a few years ago we had some trouble with the toilet and we called matinence and they said they would be up in a few minutes and go ahead to the park and enjoy our evening. When we returned to our room at 1:00AM they still hadnt came up to fix it. So we called again and it took them 45 minutes to get up to fix it and they were really rude when they came. It was the worst Disney service I have EVER experienced and I was really shocked by it. Then when all the other value resorts were booked last year we tried it again and we were sleeping in one morning (only until 8, which is late considering our normal 5:30 or 6 am for Disney) and we put the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door and yet they knocked on our door and they kept knocking so we went and opened the door and told them we didnt want maid service today and they argued with us that they werent going to come back again later which we told them was fine we didnt want them to come today. She was also very reluctant to give us towels. It just wasnt a good experience. All star sports is also older and its not as clean as other resorts (there are spider webs everywhere).

FAVE:
Pop Century
Reason: I have stayed at Pop Century many times and we love it! They have an excellent staff...its really clean and new...and the slurpees are free there with the souvenier mug which is a bonus! ♥

I have only stayed on Disney Property twice.
Once at GF in 93 when I was 10 and loved it.
Once last year at POR and loved it.
No complaints yet I just want to stay at Poly someday.

The other time I was at Disney was marching band so of course we didn't stay on property.

Favorite is Yacht Club. Love the feel, that ambiance, and the ability to walk to the two theme parks and BoardWalk.

Least favorite is All Stars. Too garish and rooms are too small.

Carey Poppins - Nanny and Disney Enthusiest
Favorite: Grand Floridian, Wilderness, Yacht Club and Animal Kingdom - love the theme and location and just over all ambiance and experience

Least: any of the value (i've never stayed here but I just have heard too many stories) and the Saratoga (totally random and just weird and bad experience here)

My favorite is the Wilderness Lodge. I can't even put into words why I love it so much. All I can say is given a choice between it and any other Disney hotel, I would pick the WL. It is cozy, beautiful, and inspirational.

My least favorite is the All-Star Resorts. First, we go at the wrong time to enjoy the All-Stars because we are there when the tour groups begin to infest the World. Secondly, the complex is spread out. Lastly, I don't really like the loud, in-your-face icons and color.

Least Favorite that we've stayed at is definitely the All-Star Sports. Least Favorite that we would never stay at is the Grand Floridian--just too "stuffy" for us.

Favorite is the Coronado and we've stayed seven times (just back) and will stay there again next year. Conventioneers don't bother us; we've never had an issue with noise--we find it to be a quiet and serene resort and not all hustle and bustle. We like the food court (we avoid the 10% gratuity by taking our food out if we are not on the dining plan and it is covered when we are). We love the main pool, the queen beds that are now being put in. It is a five minute drive to Epcot, Studios and Animal Kingdom and maybe a ten minute at most drive to MK. It has everything we want in a resort and at a price we can afford with two boys in college.

Favorite- Polynesian, very close second Wilderness Lodge.
Poly has great theming, location, Tonga toast. WL also great theme, pool, location a bit more challenging than Poly but MK is a breeze with the launch. Artist Pointe is probably favorite restaurant. WL is best at Christmas time.

Least favorite- Boardwalk. Never had a great stay there, to me seems a bit cheesy. Rooms are nice and location is good but just does not make it for me.

The resorts I've stayed at include Riverside tboth as Riverside AND as Dixie Landings), AKL, SSR, VWL & BWV (plus shortvv stays at Vero Beach & Hilton Head). I like them all so much, I really have a problem saying any of them are the best, though I suppose the one I want to stay at agin the mot would be AKL.

So instead, here are the resorts I'd least like to stay (and I've visited all of them if only just to check 'em out & maybe eat at the food court), in order of least desirable to most tolerable:

Campground of FW
Any of the all-stars
Pop
Caribbean
Swolphin

Your mileage may vary.

I'd have to say Wilderness Lodge and POR as my faves. The theming at the Wilderness Lodge is amazing, especially at Christmas.

My least fave would probably be the All Stars. Not that it was bad, it was just my least favorite.

My favorite would have to be All-Star Movies... not because of the layout, the rooms, etc. Simply because that is where my kids first discovered the Magic of staying on property.

The first time we took the kids and stayed on property (our 1st trip with them we stayed off property), I let my kids pick out the resort. They would have been 6 and 4 at the time. I was scrolling through pictures of the resorts on the Internet. When we got to one of the 3-story tall Buzz Lightyear at All-Star Movies, my son's jaw dropped. Looking into his eyes, I knew that is where we had to stay. We requested a room in the Toy Story section.

They loved everything about the resort, the pool, the large characters, etc. We stayed there again last Spring (when they were 8 & 6) and this time were in the 101 Dalmatians section. They loved it again.

We have visited / eaten at several other resorts with the kids including the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, Animal kingdom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, Coronado Springs, Caribbean Beach. I mentioned to them recently that we might stay somewhere else the next time we go. They were stunned, and don't want to switch.

My opinion is that (although my wife and I love Disney) that the trip is for the kids. If they insist on staying at All-Star Movies again, we will definitely do so.

(If it was up to me, my first choice would be Poly. I stayed there before I was married / had kids and would love to do so again.)

I have never stayed onsite, but I think if I did, it would be Wilderness Lodge resort. To look out and see the animals would be amazing.

If you want to look out and see animlas you may want to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge instead of the Wilderness Lodge. Unless you count screaming kids in the pool as animals. :ROFLOL:

Favorites The Poly looks like fun although we've not stayed there (only eaten and had a few drinks) Love The Wilderness Lodge through and through.

For Moderate-The Port Orleans FQ...the pool is nicely laid out and has lots of nice touches, and the boat to DTD is a huge plus.

Don't like any of the values..too much chaos, for the price you can stay off-property at a much nicer resort, and possibly have breakfast thrown in.
