Agreed. I don't think that Fantasmic "sucks", but then again, I have no real attachment to it.

Wishes brings tears to my eyes, and has since the first time I saw it - 4 months after my Dad died - always with my daughter in my lap (or in my arms), and my son standing in front of me.

I stare in awe at Illuminations - it is my wife's favorite show. I love the way the fire, lasers, fireworks, and music all work together to tell the story.

Fantasmic...is just like watching TV with a bit of live acting at the same time. Yes, it tells a story (although I still don't understand how the Pochantas sequence fits in). But for me, no emotion, nothing. But then, I didn't visit the Studios until 5 years ago, and didn't see Fantasmic until four years ago.

I agree with you on Wishes (no fireworks show anywhere is comparable) and Illuminations.

Here is the "story" for Illuminations.

The fireworks go.
The fireworks stop.
They play lame music.
There is a big ball TV that you can't see.
More lame music.
Fireworks start again.
They don't play the "Bad News Bears" song anymore?
Lights come back up.

Not really a story.

A: The cutting back of Fantasmic is simply am unwise cost cutting measure, and HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AMERICAN IDOL. Hate American Idol on it's on terms, don't tack Fantasmic on there too.

B: There has been no "decline of Hollywood Studios". Even with the new name and Idol, studios has improved dramatically over the years and has nowhere to go but up.

Don't worry, you aren't as shocked as I am that you don't believe me!

The show is called Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. We gather around the Lagoon to hear a story as old as time itself. It is the story of our planet's history. It is the story of us. Here is the basic breakdown.

Act I: Chaos. Chaos represents the creation of the planet Earth from a cosmic event. (This part uses the Inferno Barge.)

Act II: Order. The Earth Globe appears. As the Earth cools, it changes from hot white to red to blue. Images appear on the Globe of countries, famous places, objects, and people. Chaos turns to Order.

Act III: Meaning. The Earth Globe opens revealing a torch and 1,000 white fireworks are ignited. The final loud fireworks explode with a white flash and end with a loud crackle. We have the future in our hands. What are we going to do with it?

Fantasmic is the only fully emersive attraction of the four evening events. There is a story. There are special effects. There is fire. There is very much to this show that none of the others have. So in comparison, if looking for a total experience, Fantastic blows the others away. You may not like the show, but most will admit that it is a much greater production that a parade where costumes light up, or fireworks to music.
That`s what is called a personal opinion. Everyone has one. Wishes has a story, RoE has a very clever story for those who care to understand it. Fant! Orlando is far too screen-heavy for a balanced production. I do like it, but I also enjoy Spectro, Wishes and RoE.

Regarding the current Fant! mess, keep joining the guest services queue. Make TDO realise they`ve gone too far.

I am neither enamored with Fantasmic nor do I dislike it, but it should be offered nightly. It is very popular, that much is obvious.

They should be using this time to improve the show. It wouldn't take much because most of the work has been done already in Disneyland. The number 1 priority in any Fantasmic refurb in FL should be getting rid of that awful Pocahantas scene that really drags down the entire show. It's tedious, pointless, and has no emotional attachment to it for me.

So Fantasmic is packed during the 2 shows a week now.

How busy would it be if it were offered nightly? 1/2, 3/4 full?

I don't think it would be packed.

During the summer it's 100% packed during nightly shows. I'm going in July I hope that they do nightly showing or I have a feeling I won't see it.

I enjoy Fantasmic, but I think I like Wishes the best.

I don't think I've ever been to a Fantasmic that wasn't packed. It just gets packed quicker/earlier now:shrug:
