Did they know what the innuendo was , Probably yes. Is it a huge deal to get all worked up about , no.
I don't think they did, but like everyone else... who knows? We must be fair which is why I have never thought you should be sent to your cage. Those other people are quick to judge! ;) :)

I am a 15 year old teen who loves to go to Disney and has been to WDW 10 times with my parents. I think the shirts in question easily can be read to be dirty, but that is what the persons mind reading them is formulating. It may not have anything to do with what the people wearing them are thinking. Do I think they are appropriate for the parks, No because they allow others to think in a way that may not be appropriate and even young people like me.

As for the people on here who has spoke about teens and mostly about girls who wear shirts that show off there bellies and shirts that look like bras. I have wore shirts that have shown my belly, but they have not looked like a bra. First my parents would not let me out of the room in something like that to go to the parks. The only time I wear something like that is when I go to the pool or a water park at Disney and also in those cases I wear a cover up as well. I think that the problem there with girls wearing that sort of tight skimpy stuff is a parent issue. Most of the time unless I guess the teen is a local and they come by themselves to the parks they are with a parent. So they parents know how they dress. That should be on them as much as the teen girl.

Usually you are told to turn it inside out
If you go to Epcot on NYE, some are dressed like going to a nightclub, high heels, miniskirts, shirt and tie , etc. The music and dance options are amazing and the best place to get down on the dance floor is outside China with its dragon shooting out real hot flames above the dance area packed with bodies making the area feel even hotter in temperature.
That sounds amazing, that might be worth a trip back.

I'm sure it could be used for something else, but I don't understand why everyone's thoughts went straight to hell. Honestly, what you just described is exactly how I read it. He gave her a trip to Disney, She wanted a trip to Disney. I understand why everyone's mind is down to gutter level at this point in time, but really if I had seen that, out of the context of this thread, that is exactly what I would have thought it meant and I'm still not convinced that it isn't that simple. If it was intended to be offensive they should have made it much more obvious.
I find that thought process interesting.
But the couple could have easily finished by just spelling out Disney. But they didn’t, they made the “D” big and prominent on the shirt. They achieved their intention with the shirts and people read into it correctly.
Only adults would have gotten it, it went over every child’s head. Just like in Toy Story when Mr Potato head takes his lips off and taps them on his lower back all adults knew what he was saying but it went over every child’s head.
People push the boundaries to see what they can get away with each time.

Welcome to America, land of free speech... until someone is offended and calls security.
The ones that are offended ARE using free speech also. Some also didn't like the cast wearing the Incredibles superhero attire in those extremely tight outfits showing a little too much ..

Disney is a private company with established rules and unrestricted free speech does not apply on their property. Disney's dress code is spelled out right on their website. If someone doesn't want to adhere to it they are free to go elsewhere.

Part of Disney's dress code that is banned:
  • Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics

Case in point - unless it is a private gathering ( parks or resort ) the dress code is and can be lax for the paying guests. I take it you've never been to the infamous and incredible One Mighty Party event at DHS late night until 3am back in the day.

Well, if one chooses to look at the world that way, who am I to get in your way. I will just continue to not jump to conclusions based on some deviant possibility.

I would guess that ever since humans had language, there have been double entendres and innuendos (even innuendo has a double entendre). Communication exists on a gray scale of understanding and context. I understood the hidden meaning of the shirts the second I saw them because I've seen the terminology used in a number of different contexts. What others think, or know, or think they know... I don't know even if I think I know, you know?

Guess I need to re-think the “most-expensive-day-ever here-for-the-D drinking team” t-shirts for our next trip.

saw this t-shirt being worn my last trip in Oct and the ‘I gave her the D’ shirts (may even have been that couple) but I didn’t think either were offensive or obscene.

if you think they are, just listen to Bob Hope joke while at Disney. Those were the good old days. All that clean humor 😉
