Yes! And you just said it! It does not fit there. At all. Decor fits, because it shows that something is being celebrated, and it adds to the atmosphere, not change it. Music fundamentlly changes the theme, setting, and mood for a area. You walk into EPCOT to Jingle Bells, that's not setting the tone for a day of exploration, futurism, and world culture. Same with the Beach Boys. It clashes. It makes the small overlay for XMas or FG become all encompassing. It's too much. How the "spirit" of EPCOT is found in California Music is beyond me. That's like spray painting "Flower and Garden" over everything in EPCOT.
If they want to put XMAS music in, do it by the FoN, by LoW(RIP!) , and in WS while walking out of the park. THERE, it works, because you see what we are celebrating. It just makes more sense.
Sheesh...conservatives? Liberals? Where the heck does this leave me?!:ROFLOL:
Which they do, and it's GREAT.
Seriously, it's like arguing that Haunted Mansion Holiday doesn't work with New Orleans Square. It's just a point of contention but the music is considered holy at Epcot, nobody has a problem with it at the other parks. I love the Main Entrance loop as much as the next guy, but it's better that the music reflect the SPIRIT of the park in the SEASON, like I said. You have to let these be what they are, special, and do what they do best, create memories.
I guess I'm just breaking my usual Epcot-is-Holy thought process to illuminate that seasonal change is good. And as someone who lives here year round, this keeping everything the same year round gets tiring. The parks need to feel SPECIAL every season. Music is a big part of that.
And seriously, the Beach Boys was perfect. It encapsulated those formative seasons at Epcot, from the Weather, to the events, to the gardens, and brings back great memories.
Because EPCOT to me, isn't at it's best as a day long museum-piece, even though It's lofty and high ideals are worthy of such. But Epcot is it's best when I can go in for an afternoon and find a living place, a community where the music, displays, festivals, events, and attractions aren't a Bible that can't be touched, but rather Epcot for what it is, a place where I've seen Amazing things, I've been taken to fantastic worlds, I've seen new wonders come and go. I've met great people, and spent some amazing family nights walking around and enjoy concerts and festivals. And yes, the music when entering the park, while sometimes I disapprove, for the most part has helped Epcot be an important part of it's self, a Community.
