Before I go to bed (I'm recovering from the magic :dazzle:) here are some newb comments

Honestly......and this doesn't apply to everyone....but the people that wear their "1st Time" buttons should have a "Clueless" button next to it.

I'm bothered by how many of them don't plan a damn thing or know what they are getting into....and then have the audacity to get frustrated on their trip!

Here are some of the things I heard yesterday at Epcot...

"WHAT IS THAT?!" -man pointing to the entrance of SSE "WHAT DOES IT DOOOO?!" -man then begs CM for knowledge

"I think the race cars are in Innoventions"-whoaomg....

"Wonder what they have in InterVentions" X10 OUT THE WINDOW

"let's go to country world"-man and woman with child going to soarin

"why is Iraq here?- couple looking at Morocco

"Why is this closed?!"-woman standing at entrance to UoE with rope and sign saying the ride is closed

"so this is a spacehsip and it goes through time"-southern mama explaining it to her kids

"ZOMG lemme tell you there was these veggies that sanng to yew" -souther teen lolgurl explaining what I think was kitchen cab to her friends in the queue for soarin'

"they don't have this in arizona" -family from I guess arizona standing in Japan

"these fireworks suck!"-man leaves after fireworks end briefly and earth globe turns on

:sohappy:

Funniest stuff on wdwmagic since the wand thread last year. Thanks!

I agree with one of your earlier observations that the dome should have a first class moonscape set with the earth projected above. I mean that can always be viewed as the pinnacle of technological achievment and I have never understood why they seem to downplay it now.

Great details and now I can't wait to see what exactly they are doing.

They should never of changed Spaceship Earth. It was perfect the way it was before the rehab turned history into something comical. It will always be our favorite attraction, but why'd they have to go and ruin it...oh well.....

Totally agree with you, seems to be the pattern at Epcot with everything they redo. I never ever thought SE would be changed this way, and left in this condition.

Honestly, while 1994 SSE was sooooo much better, this is not too bad. It's a EPCOT Center attraction with a Epcot ending. That's soon to be corrected.;)

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's 3:00 parade, but everyone in the SSE finished thread aka my fellow 180top members are very enthusiastic and hopeful about the descent being finished, but I don't think many of them have ridden SSE in a while, because it is way too obvious that things are not finished up there, but this has alot to do with the touch screens being on.

And, there hasn't been a whole lot done since people had posted updates in november or so. I remain hopeful but concerned as to how this ride will be "finished" by spring break.:zipit:

My video footage of the descent should be on its way to Martin in about an hour for him to take a look at and see what he can do with it. :sohappy:

Ruin?
Nah. It hasn't been ruined, it's just been changed to a new incarnation that you don't like as well. Ruining would be closing it down and putting in a meet and greet or character meal.

These are the type of people for whom the new SSE was designed.

Other things to note: CM were walking in and out of wonders of life throughout the day when I made stops here and there to take pictures. M:S had an 80 minute wait in the late afternoon and TT's single rider line shot up to 40 minutes around the same time as well.

Lot's of merch carts and coffe/snack stuff in future world....my own grandmother, who has never been to Epcot thought it was a bit much as well. :lookaroun

We got stuck for a while in the EVC at the seas and got a little sick too from being in there :hammer:

I never realised just how hardcore the industrial-look for the queue in Soarin' is. :hurl:

Imagination pyramid was once again lit up at night.

Plants were removed from the old world key area guest relations...you can now sit on benches right below the old monitors....I wonder if they are still there...just covered up. :drevil:

El Rio Del Donald was......a great a**d trip.

Is it just me or does the camera center smell just like much of the interior of SSE?

I'm not talking about Rome burning, I'm talking about oil, gas, and carpeting!

Many of the monorails have the big D logo on them. The only one I saw that didn't was monorail silver as best as I could tell, but then it again it went by me fast.

I've noticed the water pressure in the bathrooms and water fountains are not crazy like they used to be, park maps have gotten smaller, and the birds stand still while the tiki room flies away. :lookaroun

I had some Tonga Toast at the Poly and that stuff is amazing. Parts of the north facade of Disney's Watergate...I mean DVC Bay Lake are indeed down and the building reflects the same color styles as the contemp itself which now sports a nice fresh color scheme and I love the new carpeting they put in a year or so ago...now they just need to put new carpeting on the monorail platform which still has the old blue look.

We stayed off property at the Best Western in LBV, and we watched the MK and EC fireworks from our balcony and played the soundtracks in sink via computer and had no problems with bus or car transportation....so.....I dont see the big need to spend 100s of $ for a MK delux when we got a nice amount for alot less.

TOO FUNNY!!!! I thought the same thing last month!!!! Im glad not just me, but I want that smell for my house :ROFLOL:

Yeah there have been no changes in SE for months in the descent. Its all the same and apparently will remain so until March or April, if then. I mean lets hope this doesnt get the ax too like so many other things for WDW.

I'm a lurker here, but being an avid EPCOT fan, I really must ask what is so wrong with it? It is frustrating reading the uninformed and unintelligent comments on Youtube like "OMG disney went and ruined another ride what will they stop at i cant believe they would do this it is a destruction".

Being a Communication Studies major, I find the new script to be much more accurate than the old one. The new script connects each scene together more like a story. Judi makes each scene relevant to us ("Remember how easy it was to learn your ABCs? Thank the Phoenicians; they invented them" points to the fact that we are using the same alphabet they created instead of just some alphabet), the animatronics are upgraded and much better, etc.

Also having studied speech communications, Judi presents a warmer story of our history. She sounds like an actual tour guide or professor who is enthusiastic about her subject, instead of the soothing and flowing but downright pompous sound Jeremy Irons had.

Everything prior to hitting 180top is by far better than it had EVER been in the past. The descent needs work, but I do like how the touchscreens pay homage to Horizons in more ways than just one. Still, I think the focus should be on scenes around us instead of the touch screens. But let's remember that the touch screens allow us to interact with the ride -- to COMMUNICATE with it. For a ride about communications, this is important. Communication isn't a one way street that preaches to us like prior incarnations did, but rather a conversation about the way our world is. The touchscreens do a good job of implying this, and if they interact with the scenes around us (if we will indeed see new descent scenes), it will be truly amazing.

I think that some people just like to complain. I have not yet read one compelling and FACTUAL reason as to what was better about the Iron version.

as long as they can somehow redo where and when and even if you decide to watch your video then the descent should be blessed with alot more darkness, just like the 94 descent, because if we had touch screens in the 94 descent we could easily see all the "behind the scenes" stuff.

But Expo I dont really see them taking away any of the touchscreen stuff in the descent, I think from the very beginning it was planned to run through the entire descent as the main show. It wasnt until everyone complained I think that they decided to add anything else in there?

and agreed regarding no hate thread here, we just enjoy discussing what may happen, the rest is done and whats done is done.

please lets not turn my updates into another SSE big ball wand hate thread
Nope, I just needed to chime in with my .02 to the 07 hate comment above.

Your comments have me excited to go on the ride next year. Usually I go in January each year, but this year I will be at Disneyland Paris.

What evidence do we have that there will be new scenes? I read the various threads, but I'm not sure what is just hyperbole/fantasy and what is real?
