Trip Report Everything Is Just So Peachy Keen! *COMPLETED*

It certainly was for us Georgia peaches this last week! For those who may be new here, let us introduce ourselves. We are Tuvalu and Em, a mother-daughter duo who love traveling together to Walt Disney World. We take multiple trips per year (this was our third for 2022) and for us, time spent at our resort is just as important to us as time spent in the parks. Slow-paced relaxation is vital to us!

I’m sure this laid-back vibe is what draws people to cruises: pools, bars, a variety of restaurants and activities from which to choose . I can’t do ships. But I can happily “land cruise” at WDW!

Hope you decide to follow along and learn about the surprises on our most recent voyage.

When: July 20-27, 2022
Where: Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resorts

It was 9:10 am. Haunted Mansion had been officially open for ten minutes. The queue was empty but there were guests coming from the exit, which we took to be a good sign that the ride was operating.

Indeed it was! Both in color

and in black and white.

A round of applause for Em “nailing it.”

(At least our ride photo appeared today.)

Now the reason for the pet cemetery pics? No idea.

You’re welcome anyway.
Were you perhaps taking a picture of Mr. Toad's grave marker? A ride I am not sad is gone.

Tuesday, con’t

Lunchtime had arrived.

Em found us a table beside this painted wall.

We had perused all the MK quick service menus earlier and found something here that suited our fancy.

I present to you Chicken Souvlaki Flatbread The Bavarian Greek!

This flatbread was really, really good. Our mistake was ordering two of them - with all the toppings, sharing one was plenty filling.

Had we been in a restaurant close to home, we would have taken the leftover in a to-go box and enjoyed it again for another meal.

It was heartbreaking to have it end up in the 🗑!

Well that was fun, let’s go round again!

Little did we know our smooth sailing (gliding?) was over.

Though we could see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, we came to a halt here.

The rest of the train behind us.

Please remain seated. This ride has stopped momentarily.

No kidding. But Disney’s definition of momentarily did not align with ours. We were immobile for several minutes.

We experienced another brief stop before entering Space Mountain. Our journey inside had no issues. Once we were back outside, however, we remained in this spot for several minutes.

“It would be so cool to get evacuated,” I said to Em.

We crossed our fingers.

Our train began to move.

We hadn’t gone far when we stopped again. I took this picture as a reminder of our 4th stoppage.

A few moments later the lights came on.

Could this be it? Would we get evacuated?

We would not. Our hopes were dashed. After several announcements, we eventually began moving again.

We did not opt for a third spin around Tomorrowland!

The family in the Christmas scene had just been given new clothing and a hair and makeup refresh. Therefore I felt it was imperative to include pictures for you!

Em and I were quite pleased with what we’d been able to do in 5 hours (which also included lunch and a couple pit stops.) The predicted rain had not arrived (though it was coming).

The park was summertime busy and wait times for popular attractions were high, which was the reason we had bypassed some usual faves. We refuse to pay for Genie+.

Before returning to WL for an afternoon break there were a few things on Main Street we wanted to do.

Stopping for castle PP pics was not on Em’s list but it was on mine.

We popped into the Emporium and ended up browsing, not buying. We exited via the door closest to the fire station and noticed more gray clouds.

Also noticed Pooh and a few of his pals up on the train platform! I had to walk over and wave.

Our last stop was on the sunny side (or at least blue sky side) of the street.

We purchased some treats to take home - peanut butter cookie pie, Snickers cookie pie, Mickey rice krispie, and a Mickey cake pop.

We weren't in the Confectionery that long. But it was long enough that the blue sky overhead had disappeared and it was pouring!!!

Em and I had come to the park prepared with our umbrellas. Yet it was a very wet walk to the bus station. (No way would we be taking the boat!) We relaxed in our fragrant room (though the smell was much less noticeable) for a couple hours, glad to be protected from the elements that had caused this:

It was still raining when Em and I headed back to MK for dinner.

Our spirits lifted when we were seated in the little room.

We celebrated the end of our wonderful week with extra-thick chocolate milkshakes.

We miss the days when The Plaza served the surplus shake in the stainless steel container along with the glass. Less product for higher price seems to be the new Disney way. Sigh.

I ordered the BLT salad appetizer as my main. The menu description: Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato, House-made Bacon and Warm Bacon Dressing.

30A7D8C7-24DF-46B7-A98C-74D13640653A.jpeg

Excuse Me??!! The menu made no mention of pickled onions! :hungover::hungover: Who puts pickled onions on a BLT? I also expected red tomatoes, not yellow and green. And the warm bacon dressing I make at home is 10x better than this was.

Em fared better with her cheeseburger (not the hoity toity one on the menu) and fries. I snatched a few fries to compensate for my disappointing salad.

After we finished we checked wait times.

Yikes! Not to mention it was still raining. :(

Em sensed my disappointment. (Although I was mainly disappointed for her, since she didn't - and doesn't - have another trip planned.)

"Mom, we had such a great day today and there's nothing else I need to do here. I'm fine with heading out."

A luxury motor coach awaited us at the bus stop so we rode back to the Wilderness Lodge in style.

We always made this face on the Tragical Express. It seemed fitting to do so tonight.

And so our land cruise comes to an end.

But mine continued on.

Here’s one of my favorite effects that I will miss after the refurb.
Yes!! I love all these little details!

I am NOT a pickled onion fan! I can’t believe that is left off the menu description!!

Awwww… poor ‘Em with no trip soon. Although you posted a pic from the outlets… did she get down there for a quick getaway? And I’m hoping your annual Spring Break trip is still planned!
