Trip Report Everything Is Just So Peachy Keen! *COMPLETED*

It certainly was for us Georgia peaches this last week! For those who may be new here, let us introduce ourselves. We are Tuvalu and Em, a mother-daughter duo who love traveling together to Walt Disney World. We take multiple trips per year (this was our third for 2022) and for us, time spent at our resort is just as important to us as time spent in the parks. Slow-paced relaxation is vital to us!

I’m sure this laid-back vibe is what draws people to cruises: pools, bars, a variety of restaurants and activities from which to choose . I can’t do ships. But I can happily “land cruise” at WDW!

Hope you decide to follow along and learn about the surprises on our most recent voyage.

When: July 20-27, 2022
Where: Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resorts

Overall Woody and I found the studio villa to our liking. We’ve spent many nights at the Grand Floridian and this room felt more upscale (which I’m sure is one of the reasons GF is getting refurbished.)

After a quick unpack (I prefer to feel “settled in” upon returning from a park) we walked about 50 steps to the mural fountain. Not sure Woody was pleased at having to stop for a picture.

Covered walkway to the Skyliner. A wise decision made by the Imagineers.

We opted to check out the lake before boarding. A slight clash in theming — Mediterranean adjacent to Caribbean.

We had our own cabin. What was our destination? DHS or Epcot?

And the winners are @joshsprincess921 and @93boomer!

First stop was “linner” (sounds better than “lupper” 😉). We had eaten nothing since breakfast and we were hungry hangry! (Well I was. Woody doesn’t get hangry.)

It was nice to have some breathing room in the restaurant. No table squatters waiting out the rain.

First time I’ve noticed these patriotic banners.

(Unfortunate that I caught the gentleman having a heat exhaustion moment. Despite what it looks like, he was fine and no medical intervention was required.)

Brisket sandwiches and sides. With the requisite S’mores Brownie for dessert.

Everything was delish!

I took a lot of pictures of our studio villa since I know several of you enjoy room pics.
Spacious accommodations -- very nice. (But, Tuvalu, where's the clock? ;) )

The queen bed was on a platform with drawers for storage. Nightstands had charger outlets.
Did you find the bed comfortable? (Are the newer mattresses on platforms, as restful as those with the separate box springs?)

My first attempt at pulling down the Murphy bed resulted in this.
That's awesome! :hilarious:

That's a pleasant and practical design.

The clock appeared after I unpacked it. 🤣

As one who has slept on a platform bed for decades, I can vouch for its dreamy comfort. In fact many mattresses don’t come with box springs anymore, as a platform provides the necessary support.

I wonder how many times they’ve had to replace the table book due to it being stolen misplaced?
This book seems to be only in DVC rooms, as it has also been in my studio villas at WL and Poly. Perhaps DVC owners are more trustworthy 😉? (Note: I am not a DVC owner. And I didn’t “misplace” the book. 🤣)

It is only in DVC rooms. A $30 charge is placed on your card if the book ends up being “misplaced”. We had a note stating such at OKW one time.

FWIW, I’ve slept on the new pull down Murphy over the sofa and found it very comfortable, enjoyed a great night’s sleep.I chalked it up to the “platform” base.

It was at SSR, but I think it’s safe to assume (😱) that all the Murphys are the same.

Very much looking forward to checking out the Richie Rich Resort via this TR!

They had that at Aulani too! There was a note in it about not taking it.
$30 probably isn't too bad for that book. It was pretty nice.

Based on current prices at WDW and for books in general, seems to me that $30 is a bargain!

I was recently in a SSR Treehouse and I think the book was on the table there. The only reason I'm not sure is "four ladies in a treehouse for one night before a Disney cruise". 😇

(for those who are really paying attention, the SSR pull down Murphy queen I slept on was Sept 2021, also prior to an all-girls Disney cruise)
