Hey there everyone! Went to the Studios last night for a short while, to take in the cold and the First American Idol Finale Show (with guests). I bring ye back pictures!

STUDIOS

-So....American Idol.

Yea.

Ok, so it wasn't horrible. Honestly only one of the singers made me want to smash my head with a hammer, and the Judge's banter helped bring be back from being tone-deaf. The pre-show "warm up" host was awesome, and the quality of the Cast Members (not the contestants) is what made it so exciting. The singers chosen, did actually step up and sing pretty good, and again, the Judges made up for any flat spots. What was weird though is that I think the general audience was more "Ehhhh..." about it during the actual singing than I was. Maybe it's because I was coming in thinking the singers would be lackluster, and the majority thought otherwise? Odd, Odd attraction. Anyways, the Cast Members are awesome, and the excitement they pitch really sells it. But once THAT wears off, and as long as the crowd is lukewarm to a show that's exceeding MY expectations...It might be dead in the water.

In terms of how the show went, for the First real Finale show, pretty good. There was a hiccup in the doors opening early, and the results being given to the host, but other than that it went smoothly. They didn't do the confetti, but the fans went off and I saw some drop. The Finale show is definitely the one to attended, although it might not be so well attended because 7 to 8 is like the PRIME TIME for getting on rides and queuing for Fantasmic.

OK, that's about it. On to the pictures!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the quick update. I'm surprised they are allowing photography inside the theatre before the grand opening. The stage looks very Idoly :D.

From the looks of the pictures I would guess they don't but maybe I am looking at the pictures with the thought they were taken without permission.

I'm a staunch defender of no photography before opening, but there was no sign indicating that non-flash Photography was NOT allowed, nor did the announcement beforehand say anything about no Photography (Of the non-flash Kind) being prohibited. Even though other people were, I still refrained from taking pictures DURING the show, to avoid spoiling the attraction or portraying any of the actors/contestants in a bad light.

Was there any backup music for the singers or were they judged on their vocal talent alone?

Yes, they perform with the Music. Combined with excellent stage lighting, a vocal crowd, and Professional camera work, it can be very effective if they really rock the stage.

So did you spot the Hidden Mickey on the stage?

It's in the paint, right? I'll find it next time...Maybe.

As always, thank you for the witty and wonderful update!!!

I am on the line about this, but I am definitely going to give it a try! With that in mind, I am glad that you decided not to take pictures during the show.

Did they remove these plaques that said the rules and such?

You know, I think I've made up my mind to try this when I go down in March. I was going to stay clear, but I'm becoming intrigued.

Thanks for the update!

Question: Were they singing regular songs or Disney songs?

They were all normal songs (I can't really name all the songs, but they were familiar) with the exception of the "Circle of Life" which one person sung.

Two I can name was "What a Wonderful World" (The winning song), and the Tom Cruise power slide song "Old Time Rock N Roll". (The song that was BUTCHERED, by both the singer, and those Guitar Hero commercials.)
