I don't like the wand. It was a great addition for the Millinium celebration, but now I just feel that it detracts from the nobleness of what was one of the most majestic pieces of architecture in the world. I'm not saying that the wand doesn't look good, I just think that it was much better as a temporary addition.

Frank Wells I don't think would have ever let that thing stay up...
"What would Frank do?"

Boo! Down with the wand! There were just too many posts in a row for support of the wand that it needs to get evened out some :)

Let's compromise. We'll take away the wand and ADD a nice fountain piece in front of Spaceship Earth. ;)

(What an eyesore that lack-of-fountain is these days. . . )

That is a good point! I do wish they would add the fountain back. :)

The crane was there all weekend, in the same position as the photo, but was gone on Monday. Unfortunately, the wand remained unscathed....

I noticed the hook on the crane was positioned right over the middle of the Global Neighborhood roof, so I'm wondering if they used it to remove/replace the fiber optic tree inside. If you look over the construction wall as you exit SE, you no longer see the top of the tree, just another, higher wall inside.

That's a giant crane for the tree then. That sounds like a good enough reason for it to be there though, makes sense.

(Add me to the wand lovers...I mean..um...now I'm going to get neg. rep points too.....oh well, we outnumber! Go wand lovers! )

I remember going in 2000 and actually being dissapointed that the fountain piece was gone. It would be nice though if Frank Ghery would design a new piece. (Disney is on very good terms with him due to the face that he has designed over 10 buildings for them including the Disney Concert Hall).

The Leave a Legacy "tombstones" as my wife calls them are slated for 20 years per the cast member we asked. I think they took the place of a fountain... My wife and I have a tile from our honeymoone. Take a look at us, we are the cute couple..... :hammer: :hammer:

Where would they move the tiles to after the 20 years? While they are kind of neat thing for people to have their picture at a park they could look a little more attractive. The whole entrance area of Epcot could use a facelift.

At different areas around the lagoon, or maybe in the monorail area would be a good place for them. But I do agree, they do "trash" up the front area of EPCOT.

No moving of Leave a Legacy! My Picture is on one of the front stones.

But if you notice, the stones were designed to accentuate Spaceship Earth, unlike the wand.

It was ment to go around with the curve adding to the entrance. Of course, it all ended badly I guess mainly due to the small picures. (my family fixed it by getting individual pictures for each person).

Who all has picson the LAL "tombstones" as you call them? I was actualyl thikningof having my cousin and I do that when we visit WDW in Nov. . . I understand that they can be an eyesore but overall, it is a great idea for people to let them feel a part of the parks without having to pay mucho dinero to join DVC, at leqast for us po'workin' folk. :king: :p :p :king: Perhaps they should move them to different places through out the parks? Would that help the appearance? I cannot remember how they appear at the present time. . . It has been over a year since my last visit and I am confused. . . :veryconfu

Apparently DarkMeasures does not like the fact that I like the wand....as he gave me negative feedback of "**** you" for me stating that I like the wand.

I hate the wand too. But difference of opinions are fine.

Not sure why that would constitute the way bad negative you got.

They did something similar at the MK, but you had your name on a brick that was placed in the ground.....

Maybe they could put them in the aquariums in the Living Seas, sort of an underwater tribute type thing.... :drevil:

Walk around the World - the intention was to circle Seven Seas Lagoon with a path made of these tiles. Disneyland Paris has the same - the Fantasia Gardens (space infront of Disneyland Hotel / Park with fountains) floor is made of these tiles. And the cash registers went wild.....

i wonder how many spaces they still have available for sale or have they sold all they can. probably not. i bet it is hard to sell now since at anytime officials could bring in the wrecking ball. that is a few 100 bones down the drain.
