It's sad when and Epcot attraction proves the current management of Epcot wrong when compared to EPCOT.:lookaroun
This sucks.

I see the penny pinchers are at in again...unbelievable.
I mean, do they honestly have anything better planned to put in this room, if anything? If not, why not keep it open, instead of turning it into a vacant room. :brick:
Yeah my sentiments exactly. We are waiting on official confirmation, though. I hate to rush into getting angry if they are just dusting all the pretty stuff off.
*prays*
So you mean that I should not have freaked out?...Yet?:lookaroun:lol:
It would be absolutely fantastic if they decided to keep this exhibit open permanently, but it doesn't directly make money for the parks. So it doesn't matter if the fans enjoy it or not. At least it stayed open for as long as it has. Spending some time in there was certainly the highlight of my last two trips.
Wait a minute last year we were talking about how Jim Macphee was the greatist thing that ever happened to Epcot. Now we hate him?:hammer:It's sad when and Epcot attraction proves the current management of Epcot wrong when compared to EPCOT.
Actually, I have always thought that Disney needed a real museum to the parks. And the place for it is Downtown Disney. Downtown areas have restaurants, shops, transportation, theater, bars, entertainment, and museums. DTD has all of that except a museum. And a museum to the parks would be great. Exhibits like EPCOT 25 for all the parks. Some of the stuff from One Man's Dream (to return that space to movie-related stuff). A theater that shows some of the old movies (Seas intro -- the Deluge, clip shows from the animation tour, Magic Journeys, Captain EO, the old Walt Disney Story stuff. A room with vehicles mock-ups from every attraction ever (or maybe these would be the seats in the theater). A store with retro posters, shirts, etc.
Only problem is I can't figure out how Disney could make any money with it. And if they aren't willing to keep AC open cuz it didn't make enough money...

The museum idea is brilliant. It would fit nicely in the DTD area.

I wish everyone in management would watch Mary Poppins just ONCE...
That's a good idea...I would charge admission.:shrug:I would pay to go in...
I agree whole-heartedly with your museum idea, Scott. Well thought out and well said.

The wand was also "temporary" and that lasted a small eternity. I think if anyone needs to take a close look at the past and learn from it, it's management.
Guys.....let's all just take a deep breath and relax for a moment. Nothing is 'official' yet.
Thanks, all. The problem with charging admission is that we'd all go, but who else? Sure, it could be a "more" on the "water parks and more" thing, but really, would that work? I hope Disney tries something like this, and I'd do my part to make it profitable!
Yeah, I know. I said that in most of my posts so far. We are awaiting official confirmation....
I was among the lucky people that stood in line during C-25 to see the Gallery for the first time. I remember it as if it were yesterday and I will never forget the feeling I had going in there. I had the overwhelming desire to cry.
I know you don't live close to WDW - I live within 2 hours - and I've been in the Gallery a lot. I have many memories of being in there now, most recently with all my friends during the WDW Celebrations event.
Sometimes I go into the gallery just to hear the retro music. I've stood back and watched other people enjoy the exhibit and listened to their comments and reactions.
It needs to be kept open. Hopefully it was just closed temporarily. Like I've said in several posts in this thread, I would love to know what the deal is, and I reserve violent thoughts until confirmation has been received.
Guys.....let's all just take a deep breath and relax for a moment. Nothing is 'official' yet. When i visited two weeks ago, my first attempt to visit the display was also met with closed, locked doors. I just assumed someone forgot to open them that morning, as everything was lit and the music was playing...but the doors were closed with no one inside. The next day i returned and it was open.
If it IS closed up, then as The Beatles sang; 'Let It Be'.
As a lot of folks on this Forum may be aware of, i am a huge EPCOT fan and was absolutely elated when Disney announced plans to open this exhibit in time for the 25th Anniversary this past year. The times i visited it, starting with it's first day on Oct 1st 2007 during our big EPCOT 25th Event, Celebration 25, i was thankful that they had given us this great display of memorabilia. They did'nt HAVE to do this ....as far as we know, there may have been NO plans whatsoever until the Fan Community rose up and roared ( i take the 'blame' for that..:lol. I think it would be best to remember how utterly LUCKY we were to be given the chance to experience this room of relics from the folks at WDW.
We all knew this was temporary...last i heard it was said to be open until Decemeber and then close in the new year. I see now that apparently it may have closed 'early', which is a shame for those wishing to visit. The fact that it stayed open the entire 'one year' is great...exspecially considering how sparse the attendence was. It is a GREAT display and many people LOVED it to no end...even Guests who happened to stumble upon it. I loved it, and i also loved the gesture the Disney Organization made to actually make an effort to 'appease' the 'RetroCot fans. They heard us, they responded...and we were graced with this wonderful display. I am very grateful for this. I am. As much as i am saddened to hear of it's possible closure, i knew it was coming and i am very glad i was able to visit one last time a couple of weeks ago to properly photograph it all. It really was a gem....and i think everyone who attended the Big Day last year on Oct 1st will fondly recall waiting in that looong line to get in and see the displays. I know i will...
On a happier note: Did anyone happen to notice that outside on the main room, on the wall with the large spread of pictures covering EPCOT's complete history year-by-year....that they ADDED the 25th Celebration??? THis is probably 'old news'...but when i visited recently and saw the added edition to the collage i freaked...wow! I WAS PART OF THAT....part of EPCOT's glorious history.
I'm thankful for that as well as the room.....so let's all take a moment to be thankful that it even exsisted.
( Moment of silence for breathing deep and reflecting....)
LONG LIVE EPCOT CENTER!
:sohappy:

I guess I should have done that, but being an alarmist is more fun.
