EPCOT 25th Gallery was CLOSED today - what's up?

My comment about Epcot being different was pointing out that it is different from other parks. In the same sense Animal Kingdom is different or Magic Kingdom and so on and so forth.

As for DHS's gallery, it celebrates the man Walt Disney and is on a very large scale. It is an attraction. (It does not represent the History of DHS and there for is not the same as the 25th Anv. Epcot gallery and should never be compared to on a similar scale.) The same cannot be said for Epcot's gallery. It was a temporary exhibit set up to celebrate the 25th anv. of Epcot. That time has passed and so has the gallery. Now if they were to build a full scale exhibit that can attract more than just the fan boys, Im all for it.

Still...It shows the history...the legacy.It has purpose.

And...Not only Fanboys liked the Gallery.

Of course we would all love that, but I doubt it will happen. The argument here is: why can't they leave a small and otherwise unused room open? 'Nuff said.

Yep...Disney admits that they cant keep a room with lighting and a BGM going.Sad.:dazzle:

No wonder the AC, Horizons and Toad never stood a chance.:(
What an asinine statement. The Epcot gallery was clearly a temporary thing. In fact your lucky you got it at all as it was never mentioned before it opened. Disney never said it was going to be around forever. It was designed in a temporary setting and to celebrate a specific event. That even has passed and so has the gallery.

Also to compare it to other attraction is faulty logic. The closest thing you can compare it to is other galleries.

Bummer you can't have a decent conversation without insults. You really take your credibility down more than a notch.

Wow...Alrighty then. Thanks for helping in the friendly debate.

(not the only one on tonight, I might add...Didn't the Senator do great?;):lookaroun)

So yeah...You honestly think that it would have been hard to make that permanent?
You and the rest of the wonderful managment over at Epcot. Not EPCOT.

Funny, could have proved me wrong. Only people I see complaining about this are on this forum. Also, any time I have ever been in the Gallery it was me and me only. I have also witnessed plenty of individuals walk into the gallery only to look and see it was a small room with models and turn around and walk back out. The first and only time I saw a large amount of individuals in the gallery was on October 1st 2007.

Calm down, alright. It's gone now. Let the "fanboys" mourn in peace, man.

Where else do you go other than these forums to witness other people complaining about the gallery being closed?

I have been in the gallery repeatedly and watched/heard people that obviously were not Fanboys who enjoyed the displays and discussed what they were seeing. Putting the background and story behind EPCOT out there on display enriches and supplements people's enjoyment of the park.

I and many people here feel that the gallery should have become a permanent display at EPCOT. Obviously we don't run the place (or it would be super awesome ) but you appear to be in the minority of gallery-deathwishers - and your opinion has been noted.

Since "Fanboy" seems to be the negative connotation for the fans...Perhaps "Defender of Mediocrity " can be used here.

GNIGHT EVERYBODY!!

Please don't mistake my comments for insults. I am merely trying to have a casual conversation. Asinine means many things. One of which is foolish or silly. Would you feel better if I changed my post to reflect this?

No, it wouldn't be hard to make it permanent. But why? Do you really want an exhibit that was thrown together at the last minute to appease a large fan base that is situated in an out of the way unoccupied multipurpose storage room to be permanent? Wouldn't it be better to have a well developed exhibit the size of One Man's Dream that represents not only the Epcot of yesterday and today that is in a prominent location where it could possibly draw in an actual crowd of people?

There's another problem you have to realize. EPCOT is long gone my friend. What we have experienced is the changing of time and evolution into what we now know today to be Epcot and isn't that what Epcot is about? Change. Imagine if Walt Disney kept the original Tomorrowland in Disneyland. We would be stuck with a land set in 1986. Change happens and sometimes change happens for a reason. Epcot reflects this. I guarantee you that kids today with relate more with Finding Nemo than Sea Base Alpha. Isn't that more important?

It was a nice gallery to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Epcot that has come and gone, and appropriately, so has the gallery. It was never billed as a permanent addition and I'm surprised so many people thought it would be.

I don't see anyone crying over the birthday castle being gone in Magic Kingdom which was only to celebrate MK's 25th, or getting overly upset the wand is gone celebrating 2000. Ok, the birthday cake may be a poor example...

Anyway, it was a special attraction for a year that wasn't even supposed to be open a year. It was a nice to have, but nothing that was ever stated as a keep.

Though, I still argue if there was no immediate replacement plan for the space it may as well have stayed until there was.

Not EPCOT.

And if you want CHANGE so much...Why does your signature beg for our signatures to keep a resturant?

No, I feel fine. And my interpretation of 'asinine' was true to its definition.

I frequent the parks a lot. In-fact Im there every weekend. Whenever I go to Epcot I enjoy visiting the gallery because it is a nice quiet relaxing place for me to spend a half an hour or two.

I think it's great that there are people out there who visit this gallery and enjoy it. I wish that when I went in the gallery there were more people in it. As for witnessing other people complaining about the gallery being closed, I don't see it to often other than here. There certainly wasn't a crowd of people standing outside the doors protesting the fact it was close last time I walked by.

Also please don't label me as a "deathwisher." I loved the gallery and am sad that is has closed however we cannot dwell on the past. We must keep moving forward.

Well, this thread is about dwelling on the past.

I thought you were going to bed?

Anyway to answer your question. Yes, I like the fact we have fishy cartoons. Not only did they bring an unused ride space back from the dead but they also connect to children in away that sea base alpha never could. When was the last time you got to talk to a sea turtle about his delicate ecosystem?

As for my signature, that's a completely diferent topic that I could go on for days about. I started the petition for many reasons one of which is that this change affects a large group of individuals who are very important to me including a person who means the world to me. I encourage you to sign if you haven't already. But that's enough of that as I want to stay on topic.
