They could save even more money building a ride inspired by that train at the start of Last Crusade.

They're still going to spend what was budgeted. But what was budgeted may not provide for all the extra bells and whistles they were hoping for.

Remember, it's not so much that money gets taken away (a budget cut), but that things cost more than they expected (cost overruns forcing a scaling back).
That’s a bit ominous. Hope it isn’t too much of a scaleback where it significantly impacts quality.

I guess if you are expecting the attraction to be absolutely remarkably groundbreaking, the thought that it will be value engineered to a degree does sound ominous...though we all know it happens on everything... Hopefully it will look amazing and whatever cost overruns they have will not be noticeable in the final product. The IJ incorporation is an exciting idea... I love the integration...so hoping for the best on this.

And yet it’s still way beyond what Disney had done elsewhere at the time.

Tbf Animal Kingdom had just opened a few years prior which I personally consider one of Disney's best themed parks ever, though it was admittedly a bit light on attractions upon opening by comparison to DisneySea. But then again, DCA was the same year as DisneySea which is a much less favorable comparison lol

I don’t think Dinosaur is a masterpiece that needs to be saved - but I also don’t think Indy will be a better attraction vs. what we have now (with good maintenance and upkeep).

So I’m pretty neutral on it.

I do think Indy in California is a masterpiece - but I highly doubt those elements will be brought to this attraction.

I'm honestly not super worried about the facade being downsized. If that is what is getting reduced because costs of things got too high, that's not really a loss to me. What's inside is where my interest liess more. You can have a smaller temple facade that still looks good. Its size is not directly proportional to its quality.

100%. Disneyland's Temple facade is miniscule by comparison, if not completely hidden from Adventure land, and no one ever complains there. I wonder why 🤔

At Disneyland the entire setup is hidden in the deep jungles of Adventureland...There is no grand plaza approach... It was also the very first version. No one complained because it was something completely new and amazing....Incidentally, next year Disneyland's Indiana Jones adventure will be 30 years old... and still amazing. One of the best things Imagineering has ever built... Let's see how amazing this new version will be!
