- Disney recently rethemed one of the most iconic attractions on Earth while bloviating about how important their replacement is and it was a clear downgrade

- They don't maintain the ride that's already there

- The new theme is blatantly chosen because it's the cheapest option

- The new ride is not the existing ride people already like that would require adding effects

I know I'm biased, but I don't think it's unreasonable to come to the conclusion this won't be a money-spending extravaganza with ideal results.
This. The staus quo speaks for itself.

If it helps figuring out how they could work Indy into this track, here's the layout for DINOSAUR.

The one consoling factor to me in this regard is that it seems like the entire push for Tiana was all about the IP (both getting rid and putting in) and not really the point of "we can do better than what is there".

I realize this seems to be a superficially similar situation but the premise is more that of "let's make Dinosaur as popular as IJA is" and so I do think there will be a drive to make the DAK ride similar in quality to DL even if it is somewhat different execution.

The Executive leadership is the same mentality "Let's go very relevant" They thought Indy 5 was going to be the revival Star Wars had, albeit even on a smaller scale to continue a rebirth on Disney Plus. It wasn't for varying reasons. The ride would have premiered near a sixth installment of the world theatrically and or television home viewing. Things were approved to be big dreams and announced before its box office folly, and the budget and angle has shifted a bit since.

I would argue that several things on there are objectively worse than before, e.g. the stiff, unblinking "critters" in the center of scenes.

But regardless, it's gotten divisive reception and that's absolutely not what they are/should be aiming for.
if we are being fair a lot of the devicive receptions are related to a lot of peoples personal bias. It’s an us problem, not a Disney problem imo. Kids seem to love Tiana it’s the adults who seem to not be able to handle it.

Yes. I’d love to be wrong but I’d seriously plan for a budget conscious and underwhelming result.

A good portion of the original ride is just "look at views of large room". At various points you can crane your neck around and still see a scene you were in two scenes ago. Like the Graveyard in HM, it's what makes it more than a set of sets. It's a PLACE.

It's going to be a real challenge to compensate for losing that room. It "could" be done, but I don't know if their heart is really into it.

Even if the new ride turns out to be a direct copy of the current Indy ride at Disneyland with its state, I think many people would still be pleased. Dinosaur doesn’t have the online fanbase that Splash has, and I say that as a fan of "Dinosaur." While it's a loss for those who love Dino, I'm not upset about Indy taking its place. I'm glad they plan to create a unique story for Indy; which is a step in the right direction, especially since it would be easy to be lazy and simply replicate existing attractions like they have with ratatouille and tron. I’m still in the camp of expanding rather than replacing too but redoing dinoland entirely is something that is quite needed as how dead the area and atmosphere is.

I don’t think it will be as much of a disappointment considering dinosaur isn’t as beloved as splash. Would I have put the Indy ride in Hollywood studios and left Dino alone? Absolutely.

This is true, but this being on the scale and scope of other IJA is not likely, as mentioned with the status quo of effort of rethemes.
It is separate from the discussion on is it theme appropriate and the revamp needed due to neglect or lack of interest.

Most will find that recent rethemes have been forced to fit as well. Another one of the common sings against Tiana.

We’ll see if part of the billion-dollar investment is directed toward this; if so, we might be in for a treat. I wouldn’t rush to judge based on the initial concept.

Unlike the urgency to remove Splash Mountain, there’s no immediate pressure to eliminate Dino, which allows for more thoughtful planning and budgeting. Comparing the concept to the Blue Sky model isn't particularly significant; the BlueSky appears to briefly mimic Tokyos entrance, serving more as a general idea of the ride’s potential appearance and location. Typically, concepts don’t perfectly match Blue Sky proposals anyway. The effects are likely to be more modern, and the animatronics will definitely surpass the dated ones from the ’90s. A different storyline also gives them the freedom to create a unique experience without needing to replicate any existing version, making the most of the available space, so time will tell.

There are a lot of assumptins here. Splash to Tiana was not rushed more than many. Disney somewhat exaggerated, yet oushed the co kept was in the works for near a decade. We know it was in the wires sine at least 2019 and was a retheme. Not rushed at all. I will tell you what I told the others. I hope we all enjoy it. But be cautiously optimistic.

I think the new ride looks more beautiful and colorful, especially at night, as compared to splash. A lot of the complaints about Splash seem to come from nostalgia to me. Personally, I don’t see this as a downgrade at all; it does what it needs to and looks great doing it. Sure, there are some areas that could be improved, but Splash had its own flaws that Disney decided to leave alone as well. If the new Tiana had been introduced as something completely separate, I think it would have been accepted more here. Overall, I think both attractions have their own strengths. There are other rides that have been replaced that actually have been downgraded IMO, but splash and Tiana wasn’t really one of them. It wasn’t a necessary change to me, but it wasn’t a bad change either. They really could’ve messed it up if they could
What he means to say is that most fanatics would consider it a downgrade. The everyday person will enjoy the ride, love the drop and not much else. The sad part is most of the fanatics in here don’t even go to the parks and the other half mostly lie about going.

The best compliments you see here are some who say it is lateral, proves the point made of the current status quo of rethemes being a just cause concern.
Yet, some can't fathom why there may be concerns for some things over in the WDI shops for this attraction's ambitions.
