to kind of combine what everyone is complaining about with strollers.......since they are putting a size limit on the scooters who is to say they can't put a size limit on strollers you can bring in to the parks/buses?

now i am all for the use of strollers, but when i constantly see what appears to be 7-10 year olds in strollers something needs to change in this society. When i was younger (i remember going when i was 5 or 6), if i got tired and my feet were sore my parents simply just sat on a bench for awhile. Or went to an attraction/show where you sat for an extended period of time, not lay me in a stroller pushing me around all day. And we wonder why there are so many fat kids in America today? LAZY.

this all reminds me when a scooter ran over my toe while i was just there in early sept. It hurt so bad i had to call a tow truck to help me! Try the veal and don't forget to tip your waitresses. I'll be here all day.

No, I don't see anybody passing judgment here, do you?

Calling it like I see it when a man in a scooter picks the scooter up to put it on the bus. I doubt he REALLY needed it. But whatever. As others have stated this is more of a society issue than a Disney issue.

I agree that children who have the ability to walk the park, should be doing so. 6 or 7 and up should be walking. No reason for the parents to be pushing them around. If someone needs a break go on a ride or take a break. Or how about this, just break down and pay for the rental at the park so that the rest of us can get on a bus.

I think the problem is with people who abuse the use of strollers that make it bad for everyone.

People who use their strollers like a snow plow to get people out of their way top the list. Then there are the people who get on the tram with their stroller and try to force it on there and do not fold it up....even as the CMs are telling them to fold their stroller up BEFORE getting on. Then it takes them 10 minutes to fold it up because they have everything but the kitchen sink (and a kid) in the stroller!

Then of course, when you get off they have to be the first one off the tram and they block anyone else from getting off because they have to open the stroller up right there instead of moving forward 5 or 10 feet!

If people just practiced common courtesy, then this wouldn't be such a big issue.

Everyone say AMEN!

I do agree that 6 or 7 is too old for a stroller. I figure on only needing one for another 2 years. However, the idea of renting one at the parks so other people can get on the bus is unfair. To rent a double stroller at Disney, per day, costs $31. That's absurd. There's no one to blame for the strollers on the buses other than Disney. If they lowered the price to say $50 per week, many more people would rent at the park.

That being said, I am definitely one for courtesy with strollers. We went out a few weeks before our last trip and spent $250 on one that would collapse as much as possible, but still be comfortable for the kids. As busy as it was on the buses, no one ever had to stand because of the stroller we bought. It's as others have said - Some people just don't care. They bring joggers or other behemoths that are completely unnecessary.

I smack my head into a wall when people say "kids should only go to the parks if they can walk".

You do realize families want to go on vacations too... right? Odds are if 6 year old Bobby can walk, his 1 and 2 and 3 year old sisters can't walk the parks.

so you would only need 1 seat stroller then right? not the huge HUM-V stroller? :lookaroun

When we visited WDW this past March for Spring Break, my Mom was in a wheel chair. We brought a Dr's note and that was a good thing... At the Peter Pan Ride, we were diverted from the handicap line and I had to walk back to the customer service by front gate of MK to get a special assistance card. There they told me also that only 6 people can go in the line with the special needs person. AND THEY CHECKED IT AT EACH RIDE SHE WENT ON... So, I hope they kept on with this after that time. I liked it. No one could use the handicap line just because they rented a scooter. We did not use the wheel chair as an excuse. My Mom is tiny and after pushing it around for a few days, my legs killed me. I wanted her to be with us that badly and it was so worth it.

I really like this idea. It keeps loophole line jumping down. As far as scooters go on buses, Disney could technically say they won't take any scooters on buses from an outside vendor, only personal ones. Of course there'd be a court challenge to that but it'd be interesting. If there's one thing these people on scooter's do that bugs me, it's when they get their scooter on the bus and then move from the scooter to another seat on the bus taking up a total of 4 seats. In fact when I was on a bus recently this very thing happened and someone just sat in this lady's scooter (it was a rental from an outside vendor) since it was an open seat. Naturally she got upset with him but he said it's an empty seat so why not? I personally wouldn't do something like this but I thought it was funny and good on that guy for doing it, especially when it's not her personal scooter :).

Same applies to parents with small children on the buses. Some years ago some lady was copping a real attitude about there not being any seats for her kids to sit on so they'd wait til the next bus. I muttered to my dad "the kids are small enough to sit on her lap" and she heard me and got even more upset. But really, will it kill the kids if they have to sit on mom's lap when they're that small? These are probably the same types who don't give up their seat to someone more in need, like an older person.

Maybe the lift motors can't handle the bigger ons with more weight plus a persons weight to add to it or it could be a fiire hazard on the actual bus, or an accident hazrd(Cause there seems to be alot of Disney Bus accidents) or a combo of all 3

The purpose of the strollers isn't just to not make kids walk. When I was little we would be 20 people, half of us were kids and our parents rented strollers for all of us so it wouldn't take forever to go from one ride to the other. When you go to the parks with kids it's always smarter to have strollers rather than listening to the kids cry and complain about being too tired, or watching them literally refuse to walk anymore (my sister did that). Strollers take much space but they save much time also. The parks are too big and it's not fair for kids to have to walk all day long. people just need to understand this and be more tolerant.

WDW is a vacation. Everyone wants their vacation to be as worry free and convienant as possible. If it means pushing your kids in a stroller instead of dragging them by the hand everywhere or relying on a scooter that you're paying to rent, then I don't see the big deal. Obviously once in the parks you should use common courtesy when you're using these kinds of things so you're not causing someone else an inconvienance. But I doubt anyone plans their vacation with the thought, "What can I do to cause the least amount of annoyance to the total strangers I will be encountering?"

Can your children walk? I am all for strollers if they are absolutely needed but part of going to a theme park is to do some walking. :) And as far as electric scooters go, some people cold never go to the parks without them. They are fine IMO. However, I do get angry when one jumps in the front and takes up half of the bus causing me to wait for another.

My sons are 22 months and 5 months old, so no the stroller is absolutely needed. This is my stroller,

I'm hoping to get your approval. I have waited for buses, so don't worry about waiting for the next one. It will arrive in about 15 minutes.

Ok, so I'm leaning towards the buses not being able to safely carry the bigger ones, but couldn't this also be another way for Disney to try to corner the market on rentals? If you want the big model, you'll have to get it at the park?

Is there any popcorn left?

they dont jump in front, they are told where to park so the driver can see you and load you first, this is done for safety reasons, anyone who cant understand this amazes me.
