This will be interesting to see. I agree that some ECVs are getting HUGE!!!! Yikes! I also think that double wide strollers should banned EVERYWHERE, not just Disney. I don't mind those strollers that sit one behind the other, and I guess not all doublewide strollers are overly larger, but some of them are as wide as a golfcart!

If the child can't walk then perhaps the time is not right for a trip to WDW.

Perhaps waiting until their little leg muscles have developed enough to walk would be more fitting, plus they would then be more apt to remember the trip.

How long, I wonder, before we see someone trying to board a bus with a stroller like this:

giantstroller.jpg

. . . but with only one kid in it?

Or maybe an ECV like this:

As we grow ever larger, you know it'll happen.

you know, i doubt they would "not allow" the larger scooters. my father-in-law requires a larger scooter due to his weight/ health. and although he is a very proud man, and is embarrassed when he boards the bus "first", he needs one to be able to accompany his family on his vacation that he pays for.

as for kids and strollers, mine are my burden. i'm sorry if mine take up space on "your" bus. i guess you should of got in line before us.

Tell me this is a joke.

You do realize, if all the people with strollers decided not to go to Disney until their kids could walk all day, their would be no Disney, right?

why do people ride on them , a congestive heart failure ? overweight ? a walk may do some good . Yet the same people on scooters are downing a bacon double cheeseburger at Cosmic Rays with a Large coke and fries and a brownie for desert .

I don't have what you would determine a disability. I'm just a fat guy that loves WDW. After taking a couple of trips with my back, feet, and knees hurting, I asked myself why should I be so miserable at my favorite place in the world? The next day I rented a ECV. Since then I've never looked back. Yes, my body was revolting against all of the added exercise I was getting and all that exercise did me some good, but I don't go to WDW for a self improvement program. I just enjoy going to the park.

I don't smoke or drink. My children have both a mother and a father in the home. My wife and I have been married for almost 20 years. I've never cheated on her nor she on me. I don't look at ography. I'm unfailingly honest and I stay out of debt. I think the whole world would be better if they lived like me. However, I enjoy the company of smokers, drinkers, debtors and people who don't live the way I do. For some reason, fat people get dirty looks if they're eating something beside raw celery and broccoli.

That said, I do think that all people should be courteous. I wait in line like everyone else except when there's a special entrance for people in ECV's. I'm not asking for any special treatment nor judgement.

but come on...does every 400 pound person at WDW have a real disability? I am especially suspicious when there is a couple who are both extremely overweight zipping around the parks together...so they both have the same invisible disability?)

Well come on... have you ever been 400 pounds? I've known lots of fatty's and I've never known one who wouldn't rather be there ideal weight. Human behavior is so easy to change it's hard to understand why we have any fat people at all. But since obesity is such an extremely rare condition in the U.S., it's obvious that you understand the problem completely.:veryconfu

Not passing judgment, but what does this have to do with the discussion in the least?

My personal view on the stoller issue is not to bring them until they can walk. We didn't start going until our daughter could walk all day long. Then when our son was born we stopped going until he was old enough to walk all day long. I personally don't get the point of taking kids that are not old enough to enjoy everything. They are small enough to ride in a stroller then they are too young. In my opinion only. To each his own.

We just got back from a trip there and the scooters and massive strollers were everywhere. Those strollers must run at least $500. That seems insane for a stroller. I would like to see something done with the scooter issue. It is getting worse and worse each year. I know some people actually need them and that is fine but I think there are a lot of lazy people using them too just so they don't have to walk and get to the front of lines. Disney needs to find a way to fix that problem.

My personal view is if you don't like the fact that there are strollers at Disney World, then you shouldn't go. Either that, or just deal with it.

I didn't say they shouldn't be there bucko!! Just how I handle it with my kids. My beef is with the scooters and people that don't actually need them. You might want to go see the eye docter there chief!!

so many people nowadays put personal comfort before courtasy towards others anymore. I'm not saying you do Captainkidd, i'm just referring to people who bring the double-wide tank strollers loaded with their entire living room and fridge.

Lots of people on here are saying that those extra big strollers that they bring are a burden to them as well. My question is why bring them then? They do make double wide umbrella strollers and those single file double stollers that fold away slightly smaller than the double-wides. and you really do not need to bring ALL of that stuff with you anyway. I know alot you say you do...but 95% of you really don't. Just sayin...

I guess WDW is for adults only. Oh wait, its geared towards children of ALL ages including ones in strollers. Just deal with it like everyone else.

My question to all of you that take strollers there. Do you enjoy your time there lugging that around and not being able to enjoy all the attractions because the kids are too small? I have no problem with people taking young kids in strollers. I wouldn't want to do it but obviously a lot of you don't mind it. Do you honestly think kids that young will remember anything? What will an infant remember? Oh thats right, you aren't going for them, you are going for you. GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE!!!!

Again, I roll with the punches. I get around with strollers and scooters in the parks and it doesn't ruin my trip but if you want to play all high and mighty then we can argue this for a long time.

I personally dont let any of that bother me in Disney... I am there to have fun in my special place... I love seeing all the little kids faces light up in the parks that is what Disney is a fairy tale for the kids to enjoy no matter how old or young they are. They may not remember it but you will always remember their faces and laughter. The only time i let EVC's bother me is when i had to use one last yr due to back problems I couldnt even walk 10 steps without being in pain. I am 38 and was embarresed that I had to use one. But now that I had my broblems fixed i am ready to go and try Disney again without one. I never look down on anyone in Disney.. it is a place to escape and I enjoy it no matter what happens.

I think that a little courtesy goes a long way. Scooters and strollers are a fact of life. They pay to stay at the resorts just the same as anyone. It gets on my nerves just as much as anyone else when I've waited forever for a bus and a scooter arrives just as the bus does and gets first priority. Being annoyed or whatever won't change that. As for the strollers, I feel sorry for people lugging the big strollers around. I know it's their choice, but still, it's a hassle. I would't want to do it, and I don't. I bought a $10 stroller from Wal-Mart that folds up nicely and unfolds quickly. It's like a super unbrella stroller. LOL

Anyway, my point, let's just all be courteous. Scooters annoy me, but they are one of those things we have to deal with for now. Strollers do take up space. If the bus is full, don't spread your stuff all over the place and prevents others from sitting. Use as few seats as possible. Place your stroller in a location that will not be in someone's way if at all possible; put your kids in your lap if they are of size to do so.

Well said. I am in a bit of a mood to argue today. Especially with people that put them selves on a pedestal. Your comments are refreshing for this thread. Maybe I will let this one rest now. Glad to hear you are feeling better. :)

Gee, who ever saw his thread devolving so quickly.....

Happens every time you mention ECV or strollers.

Personally, I have no problem with them...but my ankles do. I think its crazy looking at pictures from 20 to 30 years ago. Hardly a stroller and certainly no ECV's in sight.

If obesity is a disability...they better start making more handicapped parking spots...
