Earth Barge back in show @ ROE

Victoria

Not old, just vintage.
I have watched many videos of ROE and even this YouTube version is better than some of the Hi Res versions I have seen in the past. Thanks to whoever shot this tonight!

She Lives!!! Nice to actually see the images now and not only about half of them!

The video came out real well for being low quality.

It goes to show the improvement when a lo res You-Tube video is very clear! Wonderful. I wonder if the resolution is the same or if the Quicktime files the barge shows are being upscaled? It certainly looks far clearer. The higher res video should be even better (thanks Steve)

Amazing.... for the first time in years there isn`t a single dead panel. I hope it stays that way. It was getting really bad.

Any word if any show timings have been tightened? Anyhow, well done for all involved.

What a great video! Seems its turning much faster now and much clearer. They did a good job! We'll look forward to seeing it.

Martin, from where I stood last night (not close to the show, but still able to hear the show and see the higher-altitude bursts), the timing issues remain.

I don't know all the show scene names, but the first two cues after the Earth barge takes its position (white downward thingies ,then colored downward thingies) still have too much of a delay between firing and bursting...also, last night there were only 2 of those high-altitude white downward shells in Meaning on each cue...blue starbursts in Celebration are all still way off timing with one another...and the last set of mines are still bursting in two different sets.

I wonder if it will be easier to maintain or not - did they putt off fixing the dead spaces in the old technology because it was difficult or expensive?

It is very difficult to repair something when they don't manufacture the part or systems anymore.

Since they installed a totally new system, at least they will they have the repair parts to fix it.

I was there last night and can tell you the globe has never looked better. HUGE improvement. The clairty is so much better, you can tell what the images are!

Well, the LED screen certainly appears much better, that much I can cheer for. :sohappy:

However, that's about it. The timings on some of (actually, a lot of) the pyro are still off, the 200+ strobes on the globe didn't appear to work (maybe they just got rid of that effect. Not that big of a deal either way), and the three search beams still aren't visible as the globe opens (again, not that big of a deal, but it was a neat effect when it worked).

But most importantly, after a 2-3 week refurb, the torch still lights up too late! That thing should light as the final chorus of "We Go On" dies off. ("With each rising sun, to a new day, we, go on!" *torch lights*). It should not light at the same time the pyro shoots out. While the updates to the screen are nice, for goodness sakes, get that torch working properly and lighting on cue!!!!! :fork:

I saw the show last night and could actually make out the pictures on the globe. I couldn't believe all the stuff I was missing for years due to the poor quality. Much better.

3000th post! :sohappy:

The Earth Globe isn't finished yet. Just the LED's , there are other lighting and other issues they are still working on. The new strobes still have to be installed. Originally, it was scheduled to be out longer to fix most everything, but it turned into a rush job just to get it back in show because they were running on low for pyro for the replacement show.

Oh, good to know. I digress (for now...). :lookaroun

I hope the torch is addressed at some point as well.

WOW! It's really hard to believe they can improve it even more. I really don't scrutinize the show like some of you others here - I'm just not that observant - but the LED change is sooo major. I'd love to see the specs and understand exactly what change they made.

Good stuff! Thanks for posting, and great to know they are still working on the other elements of the barge :sohappy:
