How can they just close the middle of the biggest pathway in the park?

Its the beginning of the slow period so its will impact less. Plus they have to do this before the nighttime entertainment that comes with PixarFest in April. So they will as they do with all other construction projects put up plywood walls. It won't be pretty but it'll only be for a short period of a month or so.

Plus as someone mention this is probably to help with people tripping (or twisting ankles) on the rails. So they'll put brick down to make it standout so people actually see the rails instead of them blending in with the black street.

Last time the worked on the tracks, they basically built a rectangular box that covers say 60 feet of track, so you have the sidewalks plus part of the street open, and the blockage is about 1/4 of the full length of Main Street. Once they finish one area, they move the box to the next section. All work requiring heavy equipment is done late night and early morning. Not as bad as you might think.

They will schedule the center passing area work for the slowest days forecasted. (Larger box will be needed.)

Will be interesting to see the new look for sure. I presume it will look similar to Paris, except it will still be cement on the left and right sides. I think it will look nice. View attachment 254589

Actually, it will be like the street in Hollywoodland in DCA. If you've ever seen CMs around the Red Car Trolleys, you'll know that they use the brick buffer on either side of the tracks to warn guests as a "visual indicator" as my attractions CM friends tell me. It's a tool for promoting guest safety. "Keep off the bricks, please" is an easy spiel. I have found it a helpful tool to avoid the trolley as it approaches.

In the greater scheme, I find this an easy compromise. Main St. USA is a fantasy construction, after all, not an historic recreation.
