Dr Who coming to Epcot and other news

Slow news day. New T Shirts start a rabid news thread and we hear guests actually want a new attraction as well.

Meanwhile Screamscape backs up my original hearsay that Transformers could be on its original THIRTEEN MONTH construction schedule after all....

Great news on Transformers. We're actually planning a long weekend out at Uni for November. There's a first time for everything. So while some here are praising WDW Merchandising for bringing in Dr.Who Shirts to Epcot...we'll finally get to see what all the hype at Uni is about. It's been about 5 years since we've been out there. Even excited to be staying at Royal Pacific for the second time this year for a great FL Resident Rate.

Yes. Those are two entirely different questions. Why would we be praising Disney for offering non-Disney Merchandise? We're talking about T-shirts here, not some rare collectibles. Who's going to be saying ZOMG I CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO EPCOT SO I CAN GET A DR.WHO SHIRT!!!

If you want one that bad buy it online. It's probably cheaper anyway. There are other things I would rather have the Merchandise managers focusing on than bringing third party merchandise (especially t-shirts or such) to Epcot.

I can't see your logic here, I think it is great if they add merchandise that is country specific to a country's shop in the WS. Just like the wonderful dinner ware being sold in Japan isn't Disney themed, the Dr. Who t-shirt does not have to be either. I actually think that makes the shopping experience much more varied and I am happy that Disney adds non-Disney merchandise instead of offering only stuff with Disney on it!

Because it seems like its been an age since there was full, worthy E ticket quality news?
While true, what is wrong with someone enjoying and getting excited about the little things? I would love to here news about a new e-ticket, although even news of one is no guarantee it will get built, but that is not going to happen every day. It would absolutely make my day to hear that toasted coconut was going to added as a topping to Dole Whips. I of course would not plan a special trip around said new but a Dole Whip would be a priority on my next trip.

Indeed. I was commenting in general about what makes news now using this as an example. The headline inferred it was something big. A UK pavilion attraction? A M&G? Nope. With the chaos of DAK and the amazing to and froing behind the doors of DHS as we speak I guess I got a little underwhelmed.

I'd certainly be open to a lot more variety, what with the Disney merchandise getting so homogenized- same ol' Pooh or Tink design on every shirt. I don't see why we can't have more BBC stuff at the UK pavilion, but I can see why they would start with Dr. Who, since that is such a huge fandom. Like several people on this thread, I know folks who would make a beeline for those.
I remember they used to have t-shirts made for ABC shows over at DHS, but they probably don't do that anymore. Anyone seen that lately? I'd go for a Revenge shirt.

Do you think they will promote "Last Resort" on the billboards at DHS? I think that would be risky.

So you're saying that Avatarland is actually happening and this is from an inside source?

I posted up front take it for what its worth..the Lady simply told us that we should see FOTLK while we were there as our next scheduled trip in Dec 2013 ....it wouldnt be due to Avatarland..of course IGN is reporting today that Disney and Spielberg are having creative differences

Once again this if True...will be a test the water type of thing..if they go over big..then a bigger Who presence will come and who knows where that leads. The pavillions sell non disney stuff..Italy, france, germany, england...all have tons of Soccer stuff out..shirts, jerseys, balls...I mean if in England why wouldnt you want to see "English" stuff...again I was commenting on the Japan stores having tons of Hello Kitty, Godzilla, Sailor Moon...

I'm hopeful this does indeed go over big and they do paint the Phone Boxes Blue...and when you pick up the phone the Doctor is on the other line..

I enjoy the little details and unique (for WDW) merchandise. I like to see Disney do anything to separate itself from the standard Walmart offerings. T-shirts, toys, novelty items, limited release stuff, just make it unique and special.

Tangentially, I just got my "Ravenclaw Quidditch Team Captain" t-shirt from Qwertee (super cheap shipping from the UK) and I just love it!

The great thing about those "unofficial" shirts (sounds like a cool design, btw) is that they are free of the range of the trademark police... the merch at WWOHP is particularly bad in this regard, whether it's a Hufflepuff® shirt or a Hogwarts Express® cap, the trademark, usually placed smack in the middle of the name sorta ruins it for me.

I'm grateful that Disney doesn't do it this way. The trademarks seems to be hidden better, with just a ®Disney or similar somewhere near the bottom of the art.

If that is the case I would block these web sites from your computer. :)

Today is a rather slow day as only 1 has a Dr. Who shirt. It is not uncommon to see 3 or 4 Dr Who shirts pop up on any given day.

You forgot two other sites.

It's because of you that I ended up spending money on all these sites.

About time! (get it? About time). I asked every time I walk in the England shope, "Where's the Doctor Who stuff?". They need a Tardis also.

I think this was a really good update and what these boards should be about - sharing tidbits with each other. Thanks sgtmgd!

That said, I think the thread needed a different title... perhaps the insertion of the word "merchandise"... because I clicked on it thinking it was some sort of character appearance.

I can't find the exact picture i was looking for, but if they had t-shirts that were a 'Disney' take on Dr. Who I'd be excited for what possibilities could come after them.

Maybe something Like these, but with brighter more vibrant colors.
