Dr Who coming to Epcot and other news

I wouldn't mind a Dr. Who ride in the Great Britain pavilion. I like the series, especially the current one with Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor (and Amy is a great sidekick. Rory, ehhh, not so much. Third wheel).

But I'd much rather have a Yellow Submarine ride. I think the Beatles have more of a presence in the minds of people the world over. And a Pepperland dark ride with the Sea of Holes and the Blue Meanies could be amazing!

Yep, a Beatles attraction could be amazing, but I'd be willing to wager that the rights to the music would be so astronomical that TDO wouldn't even consider it. Another great idea would be to replace LaNouba with the Beatles Circ show, Love. At least those rights have already been paid for, but I again, it's probably exclusive to that show in Vegas only...

A Doctor Who attraction would be AMAZING! I would literally cry if they would do one. He could take the audience on a tour of Great Britain, stopping in at important times in their history. Not to mention a Doctor meet & greet.

Oh.... and DALEKS!

Not to jump off the Dr. Who bandwagon (never seen the show) but as far as the Avatarland/FOLK rumor is concerned there isn't much water in it. No one aside from upper-level management, WDI and those directly involved with the project know a whole lot of anything about the project and the events associated with it. The average CM finds out details about the parks projects, closures, etc. usually within hours of when the general public finds out. Not saying that the CM was wrong, but it's unlikely he would know anything right now.

I'd also be incredibly surprised if FOLK went away. It's the top rated show at WDW by guests...

I don't know, I'm a fairly new Who fan (started with the new series...albeit back in 2006...so I'm not a New New Whovian :) ) and i still understand the Tom Baker reference.

OK, wait, was that New New Whovian a reference to New New New New York? LOL

(sorry, born and raised in NYC--watched 4th Dr. and Laila on PBS and have a scarf that would kinda qualify...)

Fixed that for you.

Dude, there's nothing of Karen Gillan TO squeeze...and I'm a girl!!

(seriously, as a redhead, Amy Pond did nothing but annoy me. However, I saw Karen Gillan on Graham Norton one night and did enjoy her...her character was a ponce, though)

I probably shouldn't comment, because the 11th Doctor is actually painful to look at. Can I have my Chris Eccleston back? Or David Tennant? Next regeneration, the Doctor will probably be a teenager!!!

I remember visiting Epcot in the mid-80's and my sister and I specifically bought Jelly Babies from the UK Pavilion because we were frequent viewers of Dr. Who. And we kept offering them to each other in our best Tom Baker impersonation voices.

If they could get theme park rights, I think a Dr. Who attraction would be a fascinating addition. It would be neat (to me, at least) if it could have some level of variability where you might encounter the Cybermen one ride or the Daleks on another, etc. It would be nice to have a ride on that half of the World Showcase somewhere.

I actually went to LONDON last year and bought a package of Jelly Babies...then came back home and tortured my DH, a Dr. Who fan, by offering them to him!!

For my part, I like Amy. It's Rory I can't stand.

Really??? I like Rory. Can't stand Amy. Like you anyway. ;)

have to confess, though, haven't seen a lot of episodes these past two seasons, because it hurts to look at Matt Smith. So I've only seen a bit of Rory, although what I've seen I've liked. As long as I'm confessing, though, there have been episodes where I've admired Amy. The older, kick- Amy. The one I can relate to. ;)

I've posted a few times on these boards about how I'd love to see the DW attraction in Epcot. It would fit in so well in the UK pavilion. Anyhow, I'll be happy with some t-shirts for sure.

(Also, I think are is something online where you can make a sonic screwdriver? I remember seeing it SOMEWHERE. I have the tenth doctor's (my favorite) screwdriver that also acts as a UV ink pen and I love it.)

I actually love 11, Amy and Rory, since they were the first doctor and companions I watched last year. But Tennant has to be my all time favorite Doctor tbh. Eccelston, I wish he could've stayed at least another year. Too bad he wasn't up for it though. :/

Ah, well, you'll always love your first Doctor best ;)

I've been thinking a Dr, Who attraction would make a lot of sense at Epcot. He's been around nearly 50 years and is more popular than ever. He's family friendly and there's a lot of iconic imagery that goes with him. They have plenty of space for an attraction there, too. They could put it where the World Showplace is now or even convert the existing building (or at least leave one wall so they can call it a "refurbishment" instead of new construction).

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I was watching Doctor Who today and I heard a reference to a Disneyland on another planet. Then I did a little googling and found this http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Disneyland which has all the disney doctor relations that have gone on in the past. they seem to have a friendly enough relationship, and with this more recent reference (last year around this time) perhaps an attraction of some sort wouldnt be as much of a pipe dream?
