Wow! As a Floridian I want to thank you for shopping here keeping our overall sales taxes and the like low and for keeping Floridians from having to pay state income tax! I now get why folks get so excited about duty free.

And now you know why we hate the way that shopping (as well as petrol/gas) is in the UK (especially when we pay more for the same products in the first place - all they do is change the $ in front of the cost into a £ instead of doing a proper conversion - ie, lets say that a new console launches that is $399 - we would more than likely have to pay £399, which is currently $574.56 - for the exact same thing)

Well if I were Disney, I'd announce this project to the public on Friday. Reason I say that is cause it would be the end of the week so they can end the week on a good note, have momentum going into the next week,etc. It seems like the weather is calling for a 75 degree sunny day so it would make for a perfect announcement setting held at the Waterside stage theater in the Marketplace.

Fridays are days to announce bad news, as it doesn't have a chance to get into the newscycle. Tuesday and Wednesday are typically thought to be the best days for major announcements, as they can still get teeth in the cycle, and are fresh enough to re-run on the always-hurting-for-something weekend newscasts.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info.:)

Don't be sad twas a joke. http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/breaking-news-fire-at-disney-quest.861472/

Unless of course your sadness was a meta-joke in which case it was very well done and I will keep in mind for future magic interactions.
Oh no I just realized I completely misunderstood to begin with. Wait, actually, yes. It was a meta joke. :rolleyes:
I think I'm in the minority that actually likes Disney Quest, though I would never pay full admission to get in at this point.

I liked DisneyQuest until they removed my Daytona USA! :mad:

For example, the news release announcing the closure of Pleasure Island... released late on a Friday.

There is some reason ... some holdup as to why the announcement hasn't been made yet. Got lots of opinions on this, but nothing I can confirm to place out there. ... But Tom Staggs isn't in town to enjoy the sunshine or help George and Andy pick out tile for the kitchen.

The larger points are why is Burbank running the show on something that shouldn't be that important in the scheme of things (even for P&R, rebranding/expanding DD isn't that big a deal) ... why they don't trust TDO and WDW media relations/the CPSMC.

On that subject, I again find it humorous that all the local lifetylers are taking shots at this site for having the information (while one delusional dude thinks he broke a story because he placed leaked -- from CP, likely -- artwork out there when the topic of what was in said art was already being discussed here and elsewhere) at the same time acting like there is no basis for this story when everyone even Disney is saying CHANGE is on the way. ... Someone ought to tell my pal Ricky Brigante that this site was not the site that said Cars Land was definitely coming and about to be announced -- that was the DIS -- and they were wrong. ... Oh, and I love it when folks say they don't read here unless they click by mistake. ... Yep, they all just have even bigger no-lifers that read here and report every detail to them ... sure!!!

Oh, and just to be very clear I will not be the next Pope. They asked me, I said I was honored but had too much going on in my life right now!

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Are you sure? We have white smoke. Just waiting for the announcement.

All I know is they interrupted General Hospital for this. I am NOT happy. I couldn't care less who the Pope is and I really think the money the networks are spending could go to far more newsworthy events than one religion naming a new figurehead (although I would look GREAT all in white -- black is my usual color, so it would be nice to change!)

Just because you do not see value in it does not mean that it does not have value to someone else. I am sure there are plenty of things that you do that would bore me to tears and vice versa. It does not mean that the entire world should bend to the tastes of an individual.

Personally, I have no use for princess meet-and-greets (well, except for the after-hours ones at the Alehouse),but I see the huge lines of little girls and lifestylers, so I understand how building more of them could be a good idea.

Similarly, I'm not a recreational shopper, but I've seen enough crowds around town to know that that it is a major piece of Orlando "entertainment" to a lot of tourists. An income stream WDW is not currently maximizing. I'd rather have an E-ticket but realistically parks is a different budget--money was going to spent on DTD and, rumors of a Wonderful World of Color show aside, it was never going to be built on attractions.

Now, I hope that even those of you who hate demon rum and are too scared of girls to ever even set foot in a dance club will also recognize that nightlife is a part of any "vacation experience" to many, many guests. Hopefully WDW chooses to address that hole soon, as well.

So have they finally realised that the management structure in the swamps is killing the property, if so: Hallelujah!

I don't know but it sure looks like that .. some examples:

1.) The Fantasyland project;
2.)Avatar;
3.)Moving Kathy Mangum to O-Town;
4.) Plans to makeover the Studios;
5.) Having a DD makeover/rebranding event run by Burbank;

Sure is nice ... for some Hope every now and then...

I have no idea if this is the reason for the delay, but I am giving it serious cred:

Disney may have postponed the event due to the young man who drowned at Pop Century. Even though one thing had nothing to do with the other, it may have appeared in bad taste (at least in O-Town media circles) to show a celebration for rebranding a mall when a child had just passed away a mile away in tragic accident.

I could see Disney putting things off for that. But how long do you wait?

As a newsroom manager, there's always something neutral or negative coming in on Friday afternoons.

Automaker recalls (when announced by the company, not the NHTSA), bankruptcy filings, closing of stores or branches, etc.

Just go see the Daytona 500 next year.

I've got the game on the Dreamcast, so it's not a big deal - it's just something that we always used to do that is no longer there anymore... (just like so much for so many people at WDW) - I wasn't a fan of the replacement NASCAR game

Get the whole lineup from FoodNetwork, each with their own restaurant.
Just had a wild thought on this. A concept that will tie in TDO's thirst for M&G, expanding F&W, and making more money. How about at each Food Network star's establishment, during F&W, a demonstration is put on every morning prior to lunch open for $100-$200/head? Also, do a chef's table at night for $400-$600/head. Said star periodically roams ( not as frequent, a single pass) the floor during lunch like Pooh at Crystal Palace.

In the spirit of "Limited Magic" Time, the star would put on a chef's table 5-10 times per year. WDW could announce "Coming on [insert date], Bobby Flay will be holding a one night only chef's table, book now only $600/head" Do this for 5-6 restaurants on a rotating basis, DTD/DS would be packed year round with people looking to meet/eating with the stars of Food Network.
