I do not know for sure, but the lot behind Cirque is largely unused most of the time. If that is the location of one of the garages they could build that one first and have a minimal effect on the current parking situation. I also seem to remember some of the early plans having the parking garages located on the other side of the street. My question: where is everyone going to park while the 2 new garges are built? You really can't afford to loose 2 lots. Parking already sucks there!!
I would just like to see them build this expansion in a hurry, rather in typical taking-their-slow--time fashion.
Well, based on what I just read in another thread, the early arson attempts have gone awry, so that may slow things down. :lookaroun
Well this is disappointing.
I just don't understand why people travel in order to shop.
All of the retail locations at DTD are the highest earning stores for the chains that operate in multiple locations - it appears to be a proven concept that retail works extremely well at DTD.
It will soon be over saturated with chain retail stores and then we shall see.
Because you live in a country without huge taxes, duties, and tarrifs. If you lived in another country where EVERYTHING imported had a 10-50% duty/tarriff put on it.. you'd be interested too
'Duty Free' shops don't mean much to americans for this very reason.. where for most other countries they are a big deal in airports.
I lived abroad for quite a while. I understand this I just don't think it makes for a fun vacation or financial sense when your shipping it all back home.
I mean the value you spend per hour of your trip wasted on shopping instead of everything else you could be doing.

Everyone I know in England that travels to Orlando has shopping in their plans. It goes something like: sunshine, parks, restaurants and shopping. The savings on electronics and clothing are significant. DTD is going to cater for that.
I understand why foreigners do, we have everything here and the dollar is cheap and the Euro is strong. They get much more for their $$ here. But for Americans, I don't understand that when there is a Sephora in every mall across America.
Exactly - our "sale tax" is 20%, if we import anything over £15 (currently $21.60), we have to pay 20% of that price on top of the cost as "VAT and import tax", and then we have to pay a further £12 ($17.28) in administration fees (ie, the postman drops a bit of paper through your letter box telling you to pickup your item, and that costs you $17.28)
I have been wondering this very same thing!
I know that both my mother and sister like to go clothes shopping when they visit me here in Massachusetts. Since we don't have sales tax on clothing and shoes like they do in Virginia, it's like an instant 5% discount for them.
Do they plan a trip up here just to shop? Of course not. But they do take a few hours of their trip and hit the mall or other nearby clothing stores while they're in the area. I don't see why it wouldn't be the same for people who are on vacation and have a similar financial benefit to shopping while they're there.
