Do you "move in" to your room?

I always say I'm going to put all of our clothes and shoes into the dressers and closets, but the excitement over finally being at WDW is so strong that we're usually bolting out of the room so we can start enjoying our vacay. I mean, who wants to sit in their room folding and putting away clothes when they could be on their way to a park, heading to DTD, going to an ADR, or exploring their resort?

Still, I can sometimes feel claustrophobic in the hotel rooms...especially if I spend a week having us all live out of 4 large suitcases + carryons. So, I'm seriously considering taking the time to "move in." It's a warm weather trip, so I plan on ziplock bagging outfits for the kids to make things easier (helped a lot with our last warm weather trip), but I still don't know.

So, do you "move in" or do you "live out of your cases?" And do you have any tips for either?

I unpack bathroom item first, hang up what needs to get de-wrinkled and leave the rest in the suitcase. However, now because of a story I read about bedbugs in POP (?) recently I will now take a blue light in and check the rooms/beds before I take anything into ANY hotel room, not just WDW!

I move the kids and I in, but not until after we return from the parks the first time. The kids get the dresser drawers, I hang up my shirts and use the shelf of the closet for my clothes. DH lives out of his suitcase. I do bring a laundry bag that all four of us use for our dirties.

I've never used baggies, but I do roll the kids shirt and shorts together. It keeps the outfit together and saves space.

It's just my daughter and I so we usually sleep in one bed and the other is covered in our clothes, etc. I have every intention of putting stuff in drawers but get too excited to get out the door. I do "move in" to the bathroom and line my products/makeup up so I can be out the door quick!

we are the same :) its just my daughter and i and we sleep together so the other bed becomes the "closet" and the toy box!!!
i unpack all toiletries, make up, hair stuff and chargers etc then hang up any clothes that need hanging up but the rest is left in the suitcase and on the bed.
i do always get out the outfits for the next day the night before so the daughter can approve the outfit and we dont have any drama in the morning haha!!!
i always think ill be more prepared but when im on holiday i am as lazy as can be and unpacking is such a chore ;)

We unpack (sorry I unpack) we normally go for at least a fortnight so we do move in completely. I have one of those fantastic shirt folders so every thing is nice and neatly packed so creased items are not such a problem. Our costumes for MNSSHP have to be hung up. I guess we are luck with the washer/dryers that are in the DVC Villas are a god send as we don't have to stop to do laundry.

I do it after the park. I used to get those chocolate coins with different characters on them and I'd spread them out on the table and eat them while I put stuff away. My friends usually make fun of me lol cuz I hang up all of my clothes on the hangers and I have like ok I'll wear little mermaid t-shirt to MGM (force of habit), Cinderella t-shirt to MK, figment to epcot, cargo shorts to Animal Kingdom (to look like a safari girl) etc. and after a few days at each park I just grab whatever I find first.

The really silly part is when I started collecting magnets and putting them on the mini fridge holding up one map of each park and everyone was like looking at me like im a nut. I just did it because I thought it looked cute lol.

They dont call me silly sarah for nothin!

We usually get there around 9 AM or so, and if the room is ready, we go right in and spend the next hour or so getting situated. I usually have to make 5 or more trips to the Van to get the luggage, the coolers, etc and as I continue to bring stuff in, my wife is getting her stuff out and putting it on the hangers in the bathroom sink area and organizing the rest of her stuff. Once I am done bringing everything up, I begin unpacking my stuff and putting it in the drawers and she usually calls her Mom at some point to tell her we're here and what we plan to do and all. After the long drive down, the kids are excited to be in the room and they explore the room (as much as you can "explore" such a small space) and rough house around. My daughter likes the sink area and likes to go back there and pull the double doors shut and peek through the crack in the doors. Last time, she was calling it her castle and would put all her toys back there to play with. LOL I like to empty all the suitcases as much as possible, as they become the dirty clothes containers throughout the stay. I get my clothes out of the drawers and when I am done with those clothes, I put them in the suitcase. This way, we are gradually repacking for the trip home as well as keeping all the dirty clothes seperated from the clean clothes and off the floor (even though alot of dirty clothes end up on the floor anyway, LOL)

Once we get "moved in" and settled in and take a moment to catch our breath, we head out to Downtown Disney.

.

Aww cute :D

lol when I was young we stayed once in that holiday in (now its nickelodeon suits but it used to be generic fun stuff) Once our room was themed to dinosaurs another time it was themed to Disney World with maps on the wall of each park. The kids area was like this little room with walls that didn't quite reach the ceiling, bunk beds and N64 (yep that long ago).
(I remember one time at MGM (gosh darn it! DHS!!!) we had our Rock n' rollercoaster fail to launch and that night I was sitting there staring at the painted RnR coaster on the wall map like wondering is it safe?)

But any who, I usually declaired that room my "kingdom" and wanted the top bunk to "rule" over my cousin (he didnt like that very much in his words "I don't want a GIRL to be the boss of me!"

Yes we do now. Before my son I used to never but now I find it so much easier to unpack and get my things out than to leave them in the suitcase. Especially with the toiletries and other essentials. It makes the room seem so much bigger and helps get around a lot more. Believe me when I said we didn't realize how much room we had when we folded that stroller up and put it away....

Besides I kind of like pretending I live there for the time being....

I hate clutter, so i unpack and set it all up. It's vacation, I want it to feel that way, not like at home where my kids leave their clothes in the bathroom. It is one week, really, put your sh-t away! At least in my room, kids are in another, and what a difference.

Absolutely move in, and when unpacked, put the suitcases in the closests. (Just looking at the suitcases, constantly reminds me that we're leaving in a week or so) Out of sight, out of mind, right!?!? LOL I can't stand clutter, so everything has it's place once we settle in

We live out of our suitcases. Only thing hung up might be a jacket or something I've washed out. Clothes for the following day are selected the night before and set out and the cases are zipped shut and moved out of the way. My son always says I clean up the room so that housekeeping can 'clean up the room'. I make sure all trash is taken out (cups, pizza boxes etc.) and the room is neat and tidy.

I live out of my suitcase with the exception of a few shirts that may need to be hung in the closet while my wife and daughter unpack everything into the dressers and closet. I just do not feel like unpacking to simply pack again in a few days. There are a few other things I rather be doing at WDW than worrying about putting clothes in a dresser.
