Do all celebrities get a cast member escort?

Maybe I'm poor, but 5-10k on a Disney vacation is a heck of a lot of money.

I need more than a skipper's salary!

It is a lot, but it's the "norm" for many average joe, not rich, not famous vacationers.

I never said I was a celebrity but how do you know I don't have that kind of money, the answer is you don't. This coversation is pointless.

Well if you do have money pouring from between your cheeks, I commend you for your frugality.

AHHH!!! Not quite what I intended on happening when I started this thread...

I agree, I don't really care if a celebrity is in the park (unless its The Rock, in which case I would be a little bit of a stalker...:slurp:) so, if having a guide helps, which I can see how it would, with crowd control since walking from point A to point B is hard enough with a stroller, then I'm all for it regardless of if the celeb pays for it or not. I was only wondering if the parks were crawling with celebs while I was there this past weekend because of me seeing the guide situation 5 times, and thats just what I noticed, let alone any I didn't happen to see.

He was directly in front of me in line while waiting to greet Cinderella before breakfast at CRT. He is HUGE...lol...and very :slurp: as well.
He did have an escort with him. After a couple of people came up to him for autographs, the escort stepped in and asked if he would like to go to the front of the line. He declined and chose to wait with everyone else....I thought that was pretty cool of him.

Here is a pic for you...I cropped out his daughter out of respect for his privacy.

In July of 2006. I was waiting in line for the Tomorrowland Motor Speedway right behind Kenny CHesney.. he had no disney escorts with him..

And for some reason every princess, mouse, dog, tiger, bear, and various other creatures always have escorts I wonder if they pay extra for those

OMG! That is awesome! He's such a nice guy, it doesn't surprise me that he declined moving to the front of the line! Oh how I wish I were you that day... Thanks for the pic, it made my day!

I remember a few years back, around the holidays, they kicked a guy out (or nearly kicked a guy out out) of the MK because he looked like Santa, wearing something akin to Santa's "work clothes" (not the coat, but red pants white shirt and suspenders) and made no effort to correct any confusion when kids asked their parents "Is that Santa?" He started to create a bottleneck situation, people couldn't get around the crowd that was forming, and he was given a choice between changing into something less Santa-like or leaving.

Now imagine if the REAL Santa Claus came walking in, unannounced. There'd be bedlam!

:lookaroun

Look, either way, there's some suckitude for us regular folk. If you're on line for an attraction, and your wait becomes longer because a celebrity and his posse get to go on first, that sucks. But if you were trying to get to your meal reservations and you can't get there because an A-lister arrived to the park, doesn't have an escort and the hoards of gawkers are in your way, THAT sucks, too. In both situations, you paid your money which is just as valid as anyone else, and someone else has been determined to be more importnt than you and infringing on the vacation you paid for.

But what trumps everything in my opinion is crowd control and safety. Yeah, I couldn't give a rat's keister if Justin Beiber, or whatever the hell that Haley Joel Osment's clone's name is, is at WDW the same time I am. But if I'm walking down Main Street and suddenly he pops out of a store right next to me, and his shrieking fans rush him before I get a chance to scoop up my baby and they knock her over or hurt her, you can bet I'm going to go feral and knock down anyone near my kid until Security gets a better handle on the situation. So it's probably to everyone's benefit if that sort of risk is neutralized from the get-go.

 "go feral" LOL! You go girl!

I feel sorry for celebrity kids (except for Suri Cruise who evidently got the Royal freaking treatment) they don't get to experience Disney World with their parents like our kids do. They have to go through back doors and the magic is somewhat lost :(

Never said you were.

Wow. The second thing we agree on.

I still think you are a teenager (young adult) and your parents might have spent some money on Disney property while you were with them, but we will leave that for another time and place to discuss.

We saw the coach of the Cleveland Browns, Eric Mangini, with two Disney escorts in late January. One was male, one was female. Mangini had two kids with him, so I'm sure they were acting as a guide more than anything. It's funny because I wouldn't even have recognized him if it wasn't for the fact that his wife had their kids pose for a picture with the CM's. I just thought it was weird that this lady was asking some random CM's, not even characters to pose for a picture. Then I looked up at the guy and sure enough, it was Mangini.

Wished up luck next season and he was very grateful.

I think some of these people may actually just be rich people who either want the benefits or extra attention. I've seen a woman on TSM that I didnt recognize nor did anyone else around her, walk through the fastpass line with an escort, get off and was asked if they wanted to go again. So some people may just be blessed with money like that and spend it.

I have seen quite a few famous folks in the parks, the last one I remembered was 2008 July Kobe Bryant at Epcot. It was pretty cool.

Wow, that's the norm? I must be a vagrant then because I've only spent around 3k on our trips. And that's for 8-10 days there.

If you people are spending 10k than I'd like for you to adopt me.

I was going to say this. I don't think we spent more then 3500.00(if that much) and that includes air and meals for 3 of us for 7 days.

We spend around $3000 to $4000 a trip also..that is for gas, hotel for 9 nights, tickets and food and adult beverages which we drink a lot while on vacation to WDW..:Dand souveineirs for 3 of us...and that is spending freely..not looking at prices and what not...I do not understand what you are spending $10,000 on..not that I care how much..because we do not count pennies at all just use the card and always have a lot of cash but it always never usually goes over $4000.

I will never forget the day when Shaw single handedly closed down Wet'N'Wild.

They made announcements and everything that the park was closing early, and as I was leaving I saw him coming in with his body guads- and they were tiny compared to him. He was 3 times my mom size. rofl

Btw, to add to this thread, I saw Penn at the MK with no body guards. He was dressed normally, too. Not many people noticed him, and he has a small M&G line which he seemed not too distraught about. So, yea, pretty well known celebnrity with no body guards.

That is the problem with people today... People "mark out" to someone because they are famous. Celebrities are no different than myself or anyone else.. They get paid to do a job.. And they forgo any sense of a normal life. Meaning they cannot enjoy their time with their families without being hounded or gawked at or mobbed. I have seen my share celebrities in public places, did I bother them no... And who cares if they do or do not pay for their Walt Disney Vacations? Does it effect me? Nope...

Any family can have a VIP Tour Guide.

Celebrities visiting WDW while they are working for Disney (i.e. a movie, TV show, special event, or the like) will more than likely have a Guide provided at no cost/reduced cost to them for the duration of their visit as part of their compensation package. That way, they can experience some of the attractions while they are not working.

Celebrities visiting WDW while on vacation (i.e. with their family or friends...not working for the Company) must pay for their own Guide.

Regardless of who is hiring a Guide, families can take one of two tour options...a "standard" tour ($195/hour, minimum of 6 hours, up to 10 people in the group, one park only) or a "premium" tour ($295/hour, minimum 6 hours, park hopping permitted, up to 10 people in the group, includes a vehicle with backstage parking). These prices are just for the tour...you still have to buy theme park tickets.

For more information about VIP Tours, you can call "Disney VIP Tour Services" at 407-560-4033.

Actually not a bad price if you divide among 10 people
