Do all celebrities get a cast member escort?

Not really because it can't be any worse than MK on New Years EVE.

New Years Eve is an exception - of course it is going to be crowded.

Let's take this step by step.

Mr. Celebrity has his people call WDW to book a block of rooms, so now WDW knows this celebrity is comming.

If Mr. Celebrity were to take the monorail over to MK and wait in the bag check line, and then go in via the turnstyles people would notice him.

Crowds would form, and the area would become very congested. This creates a problem for guests who just want to get into the parks.

WDW would much prefer this person go in through a back entrance, but they can't just let them wander around alone backstage.

So, WDW management assigns a guide to this person to get them through the backstage areas and aviod causing problems in the park.

It is not a case of the celebrity asking for it, it is not a case of entitlment, it is benefical to WDW.

Now, if the celebrity starts asking for child care, valet service, in room dining, etc. that is something that should be paid for.

Since most celebrities spend 10x what Figment632 would spend in a visit, they want this celebrity to come to the property.

It seems fair to assume that Disney would automatically assign guides to the most notable people, based on the reasons outlined above.

If that's the case, it would be tacky for them to request payment IMO.

You care because if they get hounded by people while between where you are and where you want to be it'll most assuredly keep you from getting there. If Disney doesn't provide an escort for a celebrity, it messes up everybody's day in the park, not just the celebrity's.

But beyond that, as has been discussed, it makes for a lot of good publicity for WDW when a short clip of some celeb in the parks having fun makes its way into the tabloids or onto Entertainment Tonight. If a free escort will encourage a celeb to visit more often, it's worth it for the quid pro quo return of free advertising.

Just because you're offended because of a celeb getting something for free that you'd have to pay an exorbitant fee for, doesn't make it wrong. The celebrity and Disney both benefit from the arrangement and it reduces the impact on crowd management... Win-win-win.

Odds are if you did spend celebrity money (dropping $1,000 for a dinner tip if you liked the service), you'd be able to get your own free guide if you wanted one. :lol:

I agree, I don't really care if a celebrity is in the park (unless its The Rock, in which case I would be a little bit of a stalker...:slurp so, if having a guide helps, which I can see how it would, with crowd control since walking from point A to point B is hard enough with a stroller, then I'm all for it regardless of if the celeb pays for it or not. I'm sure anybody can have a guide, so it's not strictly necessary that you were seeing stars all weekend. But maybe you were! You should have gone all papparazzo, then posted the pics here for us to judge.

This is the one thing we agree on. Scary but true.
