In the original story she is 15. Very common age to fall in love in fairy tales, but considered too young by today's standards..I would have guessed 18 to early 20s. I’m pretty sure she’s not meant to be understood as a minor (even by a year).
Eric’s age is never mentioned in the animated one, right? Or is it?I would have guessed 18 to early 20s. I’m pretty sure she’s not meant to be understood as a minor (even by a year).
It’s interesting that 16 was considered acceptance for Ariel as recently as 1989 but feels sort of weird today. In the original story she is 15. Very common age to fall in love in fairy tales, but considered too young by today's standards..
The statue is his birthday present, but we’re not told how old he’s turning. Apparently, the official novelisation has him turning 18, but he looks a few years older to me.Eric’s age is never mentioned in the animated one, right? Or is it?
That’s right, I forgot about that. The statue is his birthday present, but we’re not told how old he’s turning. Apparently, the official novelisation has him turning 18, but he looks a few years older to me.
A cinemascore 95% rotten Tomatoes verified audience Score…typically anything below 60% decrease 2nd Weekend is considered a decent hold… The Little Mermaid was 56% once actuals came in(not estimates)Domestically it has been keeping a dead heat pace with what Aladdin did… which was I believe 355 million in the USHow do you rate “good word of mouth” other than the dailies?
Cause they don’t agree. Maybe it’ll get a bump this weekend? Then you have a claim. Don’t right now
That’s just media spin.A cinemascore 95% rotten Tomatoes verified audience Score…typically anything below 60% decrease 2nd Weekend is considered a decent hold… The Little Mermaid was 56% once actuals came in(not estimates)Domestically it has been keeping a dead heat pace with what Aladdin did… which was I believe 355 million in the US

You mean After the price of everything went through the roof in 3 years? That’s just media spin.
Adjust Aladdin for inflation and then see what happens.
That is a clever trick! I’ll have to rewatch it to see exactly what you mean. The original shows Ariel reaching the top of her cavern before “sinking” down again as she finishes the song, which conveys a similar meaning.Someone pointed out something I hadn’t noticed. During “Part of Your World,” Ariel reaches into some sort of chasm and it looks like she’s close to the surface. But when the darkness fades, she’s actually still sitting at the bottom of the ocean and she’s gone absolutely nowhere. Very neat trick.
The spin machine is in full force.Cinescore only matters if PEOPLE GO…
The “hold”?…flimsy but ok I guess?
I still can’t take any claim seriously for a Tentpole That’s not gonna make a significant profit? This won’t likely even cover.
This is a remake…not art house that nobody heard of
For gods sakes…this isn’t Shawshank
We keep trying to give out participation trophies here
They really did have great chemistry. I haven’t seen Aladdin yet, but I think Halle and Jonah have had the best chemistry so far out of all the live-action princess/prince couples. This resonated with me:

Everyone Has Picked Up on the Big Thing That Sets 'The Little Mermaid' Apart From Other Remakes
There are so many things that set this live-action apart from the others, but the main aspect for me was the chemistry between its leadswww.themarysue.com

I honestly hadn’t noticed its removal until you just pointed it out, which is weird because that scene has always been a favourite of mine. It’s a fun little song, and I’m surprised they cut it.Thoughts on the removal of Vanessa’s Song from this film? I found that disappointing as well. I was looking forward to hearing Halle’s take on it.
