Disneyland's 60th Birthday: Rumors, Speculation and News

Probably, but I don't recall enormous backlash from the fans when CBJ left. I honestly believe Splash's presence deters the guests from Pooh and CBJ when it was open.
There was, but it was also the era when nothing was safe or sacred.

Interest in the Country Bears seemed to fizzle out in California.
Some claim it was the *hoedown* music, some feel it was it*s location in the Park, and others felt the Show was just seen as old-fashioned to the Park goers.

The Bears were always popular in Florida, the theory being because many visitors to the Park are from Southern States where old-time country music is still popular.
Another being the visitor ratio make up ( more tourists vs. more locals ).

Costs to keep the Show running certainly came into play, and of course space is tight at Disneyland Park.
Attractions that no longer pull in attendance numbers are usually turned into something else.
Such was the case it seems with the Bears on the West Coast.

I personally love the Show...in it*s original, un-cut version....and wish it was still at Disneyland.
I can understand why it was decided to remove it, but it is a shame to have lost a great AA Show.
The show at Disneyland also had to fill two theaters. It's not often that one doesn't get into the next show at the Magic Kingdom.

I am (very) new to this thread but am finding all of the news about disneylands 60th anniversary very exciting. I wanted to ask if there are any know details about the new forework show disneyland is getting. So far I know that all the infrastructure is getting majorly improved but what can we expect to see with these improvements? New spotlights, lasers, launch points, projections, etc

We still don't know any of that info just yet. We've yet to even get a big announcement detailing the new offerings.

Im sure it will be spectacular, especially if Steve Davison is in charge of the project. Can not wait for some announcements!

You and me both! The Disneyland fans have been waiting since July 17th (Disneyland's birthday) of last year, when Disney said they'd announce everything. Well, those plans were cancelled and all that was announced was some photo competition and the logo was revealed. It's now January of 2015, and still nothing. Very much looking forward to that announcement.

They cancelled an announcement, last year? Yikes. That doesn't bode well...

The other reason the Bears are "more popular" in Florida is because the attraction there has half the capacity the Disneyland version did.

There were two big theaters at Disneyland's CBJ, with a 300 seat theater loading every 8 or 10 minutes, with an hourly capacity of 1800 or more. In Florida there is just one theater, and the attraction only manages 900 visitors per hour. Half the Disneyland capacity, and longer lines with fuller theaters, which equates to "more popular".

Yeah, it was really fishy.

Micechat and its Miceage Update had the scoop on the cancellation and said it was last-second. But the latest Miceage Update is also now saying that the 60th Anniversary media announcement will now be on January 28th, with the Disney Parks Blog releasing artwork on January 30th.

Quite right.
Just another element that kind of worked against the Bears on the West Coast.

Because the Show was such a hit at WDW when it originally opened, it was felt the capacity needed to be doubled for the Disneyland version.
Over the years that extra capacity started to work against the Show...and eventually it was decided it needed to be leveled for some other furry residents...namely, Pooh & Friends.

A shame in some respects...but understandable.

Perhaps a sudden change in offerings? Or budget? Or even concept? Very bush league...

also, any idea on that IJA question I asked above?

Yes
Have you seen Magical? It's not an adequate show when things need to be put in. Fantasy in the Sky is much simpler and makes more sense to show until the anniversary hits.

Is Magical with Dumbo and Tink flying? If so it's *meh* compared to Wishes (except Dumbo!!)

The gold railing on the castle is missing. I wonder if it is getting the diamond treatment or better yet it’s gone for good. It’s probably the former.
