Disneyland's 60th Birthday: Rumors, Speculation and News

Paint the Night is about half Pixar, but there are a couple good reasons for that. Chinese audiences were only recently introduced to Disney films on a large scale - as a result, Pixar characters are more well known there than older Disney characters. My second reason is a theory, but it makes sense based on HKDL's entertainment - there are also no face characters involved, which means they don't need to add new girls to their face budget to stage Paint the Night.

That said, DL's version will include more face characters and more units overall - the balance will be in Disney animation's favor rather than Pixar.
Mainland China only recently started to get Disney films, but Hong Kong has had them. It's part of why Hong Kong bit when Disney was shopping Disneyland Asia in the hopes of getting Shanghai. While the park is definitely interested in attracting Mainlanders, cultural and political tension makes it unwise for them to be too strong of a focus for park decision making.

I know this wasn't clear to me (maybe it was to others) but it was confirmed to me a couple days ago that World of Color will be all-new for the 60th, top to bottom - not just an edit or tweak of the current show. It also sounds AMAZING.
I really hope Alice in Wonderland finds its own segment in the new show. I think it's such a great property for a show like World of Color because of its whimsical, vibrant nature. Especially more since it never made to the current show.

From what I understand the HIH rumor is false and the only new parade is going to be the light parade.

I would love to be proven wrong, because I am tired to death of Pixar Play.

I'm tired of Pixar Play Parade too. It's almost seven years old, which would be normal for WDW, but in Anaheim Parade Years that's way too old and near death.

But what's "HIH"? I love acronyms, but after five minutes of staring at the ceiling trying to guess what HIH is, I give up.

There was a rumor a couple weeks ago that a copy of Happiness Is Here parade (TDL) would be coming to DCA for the 60th. It appears to be too good to be true.

I liked PPP when its first debuted... but that was in 2008. It's probably the one parade that has seen the most parade route changes ever.

With regards to the 24 hour party events - are those hard ticket events or built in to regular admission? We're planning to be there around the actual anniversary and just trying to figure out if there is going to be an additional cost.

It’s included in the regular admission. The vibe completely changes at night as it turns into a very crowded dance party. A lot of locals love them and head over after work. It is very strange to see a DJ spinning on Main St.

I'm curious if the soundtrack will be the same as HKDLs PTN (But in English). Slightly worried because the Flights of Fantasy soundtrack IMO is a lot better than Soundsational, better sound and singers. I hope that won't be the case with PTN to.

It'll just be an English version of the soundtrack with the new float audio that's newer to this version.

As long as it stays open for my trip :D What kind of show issues is it having?

The hallway scene is a mess and flat out doesn't work anymore. I've heard that that is something that can't be fixed, which if true, is really sad.

Other effects have been in and out in my experience, even since the last refurb. I feel like this is a ride that could use a serious refurb with lots of new effects - the projection mapping stuff would be quite useful I'd think. I hope more comes down the pike for it.

The hallway scene with the moving walls and Boulder doesn't work? That's sad to hear. I hope it does get a big refurb at some point so maybe I can see it in better condition on a future trip. Also for all you Disneylanders out west too.

TBH, I'm not sure if the boulder scene and its walls are back to working correctly; I haven't been on it in awhile. By hallway I was referring to the opening scene where your car chooses one of three hallways to approach Mara. That scene is broken as hell.
