Disneyland Resort in 2017: Marvel TOT retheme in DCA, Fantasmic! 2.0

I wasn't even that impressed by Ratatouille. Probably because you are so close to the real Paris, any fake Paris doesn't quite measure up. Sounds weird to say but it was too clean to represent what Paris actually looks like haha.

Hard to believe this is in the same park as this, but it's true (and yes, very weird in person):

And in a mind-numbing theming twist, Belle and Gaston do meet-n-greets there now. o_O

Oh absolutely. DCA's TOT-in-a-parking-lot is still better than the thematic nightmare that is WDS

There are so many problems at WSP that it would take a serious overhaul to fix them. It starts as soon as you arrive at the entrance, which features architecture that resembles a 90s era suburban California outlet mall which has been subtly toonified. Take out the Earful Tower and boom - you can almost see the J. Crew Factory Store and Coach storefronts.

At least at DCA 1.0 they tried to be clever with the whole postcard entrance and unique tile murals, but this looks so amateurish and basic that it doesn't seem like it could have been produced in-house by Disney. Oh, and it's priced the same as Disneyland next door.

Add me to the list that isn't completely heart-broken. I will say it depends on the scope of their Marvel plans in the park and how well the current ToT would fit in that theme. If the plans are all-encompassing then I'd be okay with this theme in DCA, Twilight Zone in DHS, Hightower Hotel in TDS. Unique variations on the ride experience are preferable to me than straight clones.

Or tear down the ride/land and actually commit.

I think I mentioned this earlier, but the rest of the ToT rumor not being discussed here is that ride's retheming is meant to be part of a Marvel expansion in the area adjacent to ToT. In other words the new ToT would no longer be a part of Hollywoodland. Not sure why people continue overlook this rather important detail.

It is not being overlooked, the attraction was designed for a certain setting. Simply changing the name doesn't change those design relationships. It is still shoving something in where it was not intended.

Guys, stop being so pessimistic. That's my job.

I'll weigh in a bit here. The disconnect between Rat Land AKA Pixar France World Showcase Pavilion and the rest of Walt Disney Studios Paris isn't that dissimilar from Buena Vista Street, Cars Land and the rest of DCA. Paradise Pier and Hollywood Pictures Backlot are incredibly ugly, but many of you give them a pass. Hollywood has this gigantic fake backdrop on a building at the end of the street that looks like the scene in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure where he fools the Warner Brothers security guards. The crappy "studio" theme (AKA we'll make it all soundstages and industrial-looking junk everywhere) is all over the place in there.

The mess in that lagoon for WOC is inexcusable and the giant ferris wheel with a Mickey head on it is ridiculously awful. Screamin', a fake wooden coaster that doesn't look remotely wooden and has those awful scream tunnels. It's all such an eyesore. The views of the outside world from those attractions is preferable to those areas of DCA. Ouch.

Okay, that being said, I don't hate DCA's Tower of Terror, or the Dinky Tower as I call it. True, MGM's is superior in just about every way. The landscaping there nails it. It feels more like Southern California than the one that's actually there! Still, there's something incredibly charming about DCA's when the Roger Rabbit Red Car is going by, and the views of Disneyland from the top are awesome. The experience isn't that different overall and it's always fun. I like to have fun sometimes.

Well apparently the company that designed it has decided to alter the setting along with the building's facade and storyline. Context is everything.
