Disneyland Resort in 2017: Marvel TOT retheme in DCA, Fantasmic! 2.0

So how are they going to be integrated exactly? The initial post said its still supposed to be a haunted 1930's hotel (which I have no idea how that will work) but now its the Collector's museum? Also, this was stated in the wdw thread, but if they were to use anything Marvel related, Dr. Strange would've been a better fit.

I want to know how can they do this. Not in a "I am outraged, how can they do this!" sense, but really, how are they going to re-theme ToT to GoTG in a way that makes any sense whatsoever. I saw the idea about it being the Collector's mansion mentioned above but even that seems like a pretty big stretch to do in any sort of convincing way. So once you are inside are you in his mansion, then falling in space and then the elevator door opens (or whatever you are supposed to be in. It wouldn't still be an elevator would it? Are you supposed to be just riding an elevator in the Collector's mansion? Does he have a mansion in the comics? He doesn't in the movie. My head hurts.) and "Hey there's Anaheim!." I thought a Frozen boat ride made little sense but I can at least wrap my mind around it somewhat (outside of a variety of other issues with that re-theme) but I am really at a loss on how this idea would even work.

I'm guessing everything is going to be pretty much the way it already is, just with an alien abduction being what took those Hollywood stars back in 1939, not a lightning bolt to the Twilight Zone.

The same thing will potentially happen to us, but at the nick of time, Star Lord (listening to some jammin' 80's tunes) will be projected on a wall, and he'll blast the abductors away. We exit listening to the Jackson 5.

Hopefully this will be done so cheaply that it won't cost much to put back the way it used to be after lots of people complain.

The update for DCA would be extensive - a complete retheme of the exterior and the interior, from the lobby to the exit, with new show scenes and sets. I'm not familiar with the proposals for DHS, but the DCA proposal is permanent and not a temporary overlay.

Love TOT as is...easily our favorite ride in DCA and a Disney classic. As always, I try to reserve final judgement until a final product hits but both surprised and disappointed if this truly happens.

I hope it doesn't look like the exterior of Dr. Doom's Fear Fall.

Retheme the exterior? Would the building still ostensibly be a hotel?

Disneyland's Fantasmic! is my favorite nighttime spectacular ever so I'm slightly worried as to the changes they're going to make and how it's going to impact the show as a whole. But until anything is rumored/announced as to details I'll try to remain optimistic.

From what I understand the hotel theme would be removed completely, so the exterior would have different theming.

I simply cannot believe that Disney can move that fast without it looking like a cheap temporary change.

Fine, not a hotel. Still an art deco building of some kind, probably. Not liking this idea.

I don't know jack squat about Marvel, nor do I care, so I'm not sure how TOT could be repurposed as a Guardians of the Galaxy ride. Doesn't that take place in space?
GoTG is a lot like Star Wars in that it takes place on several different planets/worlds. It's one of those rare movies that everyone in my whole family likes and doesn't mind watching again and again.

WDS is truly the most hideous Disney park in the world. They should be ashamed.

I agree with you 100%. You have to experience it in person to truly appreciate how bad it is. It's the only Disney park I've ever been to that was completely lacking Disney charm and uniqueness. Apparently the ToT, Toy Story, and Ratatouille (I last visited when ToT was being built) expansions have helped balance things out a bit, but most of the original ugly design is still there.
