Disney(World) vs. Disney(land)?

I think it's way too early to judge what kind of impact SoTMK might have on the popularity of Disney villains. Of the total population of the US, relatively few have any idea such a thing as SoTMK even exists. Maybe if the game is around in 5 or 10 years, it will have the kind of impact you're talking about. But I seriously doubt it will ever happen. In the grand scheme of things, SoTMK will never be more than a blip on the cultural radar.

The question here, though, is not whether SoTMK has a broad appeal. We're not debating about building a park/land around SoTMK. It is just an added bonus to us Villain fans. The success of SoTMK within the parks, however, shows that the Villains are not the third-rail property that everyone thinks they are. They are a viable, marketable, and familiar brand. And I do think they're more recognizable then you give them credit for. I guarantee you most guests know who Scar, Ursula, and especially Cruella are before walking through the MK gates. The fact that other villains, like Maleficent, Jafar and the Evil Queen, are not as recognizable by name only can probably be attributed to the fact that they have funny names and, especially in the case of the Queen, come from older movies. Still, I think the majority of Disney guests would recognize Maleficent upon seeing her. I mean, how many other green, horned sorceresses do you know?

OK, I am officially out of 'my' own thread. When it gets back on track (or partially) or there's more news to drop here, I'll be back.

Y'all have fun and please don't be like the typical rube WDW guest that puts their shoes up on the furniture in the lobbies of Disney's deluxe resorts. I ain't cleaning up after you ... and I doubt The Mom is either.;)

come back 74!

Yep ... that has become a Monday routine as even we 1%ers need to save our money for when we escape the country.

It is $5 ... and a soda (with those great Coke Freestyle Machines ... I can sit and drink for hours, really!) adds 99 cents.

I do alternate between steak and chicken and every once in a while I'll do ground beef.

BTW, if Disney served that, it would probably be $13.69 plus $3.29 for a coke.
I wouldn't brag about eating Moe's too loudly, there, Spirit. Your critiques of WDW's fine-dining establishments are losing credibility with each and every Homewrecker. ;)

Heck, I know SoTMK exists and I keep forgetting about it (seriously)...then again, it is as interesting to me as pin trading and vinylma....zzzzzz

It basically IS pin trading and/or Vinylmation, except it's for the crowd that collects Foursquare badges.

How can you say they've had their hey day when Disney is still producing volumes of Villains merchandise? A year, even a few months ago, I would've agreed with you. Villains merchandise was just nowhere to be found. Now, however, things are on the up-swing. I've been to three Disney stores in three different states in the past two months, and I've found new Villains merchandise in every single one of them. From a new mug/dishware set in NY to plush and toy sets in DE to shirts, bags, and now dolls in VA, Villains are everywhere. I'll go ahead and copy in a link to the Disney Store website just so you can see this progress for yourself:

http://www.disneystore.com/disney-villains/mn/1000017/

Whether you like it or not, Villains are finally on the rise and I couldn't be happier!
The viability or lack thereof of the Villains IS quantifiable based on the merch sales; that's what anything and everything in WDW is based on these days, anyway. As has been stated elsewhere, the Maleficent film would factor in, too, but that seems more like an off-shoot of the tradition franchise, e.g. cartoons.

Let's get back on topic, and/or open up a new thread regarding the Villians village topic, because I want to hear the news 74 has to drop

come back 74!

Oh, I didn't leave ... I just won't wade through 4-5-6 pages daily that are totally OT (and, honestly, I am not usually about that type of thing).

Don't have anything to add at this point. Maybe soon ... maybe after I visit with some folks in Anaheim next month!:)

Calling Jack Sparrow a "Good guy" does not really describe the character, Anti-hero is more accurate.

Definitely...part of the "mystique" of the movie franchise is not knowing whether Capt Jack was going to do the "good" thing or not. I think calling him a "good guy" is quite a stretch. Will Turner is the "good" guy.

Bull-&$#.:)

I love a Big Mac, but I know where it stands in the pantheon of fine dining (or even fast food burgers).

And I think the Homewrecker is damn fine fast food at a great price.

Neither are in the category of anything more than chain fast food. I don't expect Bistro de Paris when I dine at Chik-Fil-A, which ah ... um ... uhm ... yeah ... ah, I of course avoid because of their stance on gay marriage.

(BTW, I took a shot at Earl of Sandwich on some thread ... saying it wasn't all that, because it isn't, wonder if I got the fanbois all lathered up over that one?)

Tom Corless. Penned a ridiculous BS filled column about the makeover coming to the Studios ... he threw just about every rumour ever placed online into there, think he may have even put some steroids in too! (Cause it causes insane rage outbreaks!)
Oh yeah I remember that article I remember that article. I knew it was garbage right when he started talking about the Chinese theatre

Has Disney successfully marketed anything recently?
Disney After Dark book series count? I'm not sure if they market that tho.

"Buildin' model airplanes, says the little glue sniffer...well were not buyin it. Next thing you know there's money missing off the dresser and ur daughters knocked up. I've seen it a hundred times".
