DVC members ABSOLUTELY buy on it. ABSOLUTELY they do.

Poly would not have been able to sell out a Studio-only resort without two bathrooms and room for a 5th sleeper.
That’s all assumption

You’re basing that on boards such as this…but the vast majority of even dvc are not on forums.

It’s why we fringes form many incorrect opinions. We assume it’s “normal” to obsess over this stuff and it is not.

For instance: when wdw went overrun/out of whack a few years ago you decided Aulani is the biggest gem this side of a Diamond mind.
But they can’t sell it and can’t fill it. It’s a diversion that didn’t work.
The market Dictates the reality.

I know everyone is all “geeky” about “experiencing this” 🙄

But the context here is Iger and Disneys precarious business reality. It’s the launching point for all “decisions” until further notice.

What have they done for the last month? Raising cash from APs and dvc sales.
Check the record…not hard to read

Honestly I’m really torn on this. I hate to see the charm of Fort Wilderness be DVCed, but as a DVC member I’m psyched! I’d love to stay in the cabins (like we did when I was a kid) but never want to shell out the cash. Using points makes it much more inticing…
That really would depend on what’s built and the points, wouldn’t it?

When I read the blurb, I saw 'sleeps 6' and just one bedroom and thought it would be like a studio/one bedroom hybrid, where the bedroom has two queens and the living room/kitchen area has the fold-out couch or Murphy bed (likely the latter).

100%

But we’re a family of 5. 2 adults, kids are 10,5 and almost 2. We can squeeze into a value resort but only for another year. We’d probably do the cabins once just to appease me and then the kids would rather go back to Boardwalk so they can walk to the parks. (They’ll love a golf cart though!)

There are folks who love FW but don't want to camp but the cabin prices have increased so much that they're now as much as entry deluxe resorts like AKL, around $370. I think the prices have pushed many people out and away from cabins. Surely when these are converted and have new amenities the cash prices will only be higher and push even more people away. They'll be replaced by families like mine. Like gentrication I can benefit myself and contribute to the problem while still feeling bad for folks pushed out.

Wasn’t Aulani aimed squarely at the Japanese market? Who then suffered the tsunami and resulting nuclear power plant disaster?

I don’t see that there’s room though. As it is the queen is pushed up against the wall to make room for the bunk beds. That alone is a deal breaker to many, whether older couples, anyone who has a mobility issue, even just a bad knee or hip.

These new cabins look just like what Kings Island in Cincinnati has now, here is the link: https://visitcampcedar.com/cottages/

Seems to be the waive of the future
I had a look at those. The one that sleeps 4 had 2 bathrooms. The ones that sleep 8 had two queen suites - which I took to mean with a bathroom each - plus a further bathroom.

The footprint of the FW cabins are much narrower. As I said, in the bedroom the queen bed is pushed up against a wall with a narrow gap to a set of bunk beds.

Unless they’re increasing the width of the FW cabins they won’t be anywhere near that level.

I guess they thought bringing back annual passes would create a surge in DVC demand

…ya know with all those new attractions opening in the next few year and all
Right? Tron isn't going to do it. GOTG didn't do it...what do they think is going to draw people in the next 5ish years? (I sure hope they run on at least a 10 year plan. DH's company has a 1, 3, 5 and 10 year plan...I'd expect Disney to be the same.)

Yes.

Find a cast member and ask them which rooms and resorts are often available for last-minute, steep employee discounts. They'll tell you Fort Wilderness cabins, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans royal rooms, Caribbean Beach (especially the pirate rooms when those were around), and sometimes Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I wish they'd renovate these rooms. We like staying there because Riverside is the best value at Disney and those rooms are in the best location at Riverside.

That said, I'd prefer if the interior was just like the other standard rooms. The price could even stay the same because of the location.

Sound like all the DVC point allocation that they were goi g to gain from the Reflections DVC that was axed is being spread between the Poly Tower and this new Cabin DVC?

Hmmmmm…notice that too.

Which leads us to the conclusion that these thing are promised to gain “speculative profits” no matter what.

Sales aren’t good…so why build now?

I’m purely speculating but with the Refections resort getting axed (probably the sheer cost of a whole new DVC resort) they were told that they will needed to achieve the sales that it would of been generated.

Towers are fairly cheap to build and maintain I guess hense why one was stuck at the Poly and while I’ve never stayed in these Cabins, where they maybe due to be demolished and rebuilt anyway? DVC probably bought that opportunity at much less than reflections would cost.

The issue they are going to have is the sheer amount of direct resorts they are trying g to sell, most with the resales restrictions in place.
