Disney to announce overhaul of DL Tomorrowland at D23?

More likely they leave the subs the way they are. Then add glowing plants to the lagoon and switch out the Nemo projections for Avatar ones and update the sets. Maybe add a star gate to the cave openings.

Yes, unless they want to duplicate it at FL. Then they’d want a system that isn’t so operationally expensive and inefficient.

I wouldn't mind Alpha Centauri Expeditions claiming a stake in Tomorrowland; it would almost feel like a return to 50s Tomorrowland but with a speculative fictional twist. ACE and ecofuturism, InventCo and consumer tech, Stark Industries and defense, and so on. If the Tomorrowland redo had to depend on IP tie-ins, I wouldn't mind this being the approach for the main thoroughfare.
and then they could clone it for epcot! genius! 🤩

With nemo, i feel like if they made new modern ride vehicles it would really make it better. Subs with massive clear panels on the sides and top

I think the front lagoon would become purely aesthetic decoration, maybe some new Avatar sub would be hoisted over it acting as a wienie for the attraction. I suspect they’d also have the queue cross over the lagoon and into the indoor space. All interior sets, track, and non-load bearing walls would be torn out and replaced with brand new dry-for-wet sets and overhead track like at TDS.

Yeah it doesn’t matter if we’re looking at Giant Squids, Avatarians or Nemo and Friends I’ll never enjoy that ride as long as we’re inside of those claustrophobic subs experiencing the attraction through a port hole. I’m glad that they exist and love the lagoon and kinetic energy they bring but the ride will just never work for me with the current ride system. With that said, it can be 100x better than Nemo.

What if there was a way to have both a wet lagoon and a flying dry for wet vehicle. For the lagoon part, it would be underwater and moving on the track below. When it enters the show building, somehow the water is pumped out and it attaches above like Peter Pan does. The vehicle would be alot of glass and hold twelve at a time.

Inside the dry for we building, the vehicle could swing left and right or even do a barrel roll.

You have a genuine gift for imagination! Sounds great, unfortunately, they don’t do things that well at WDI!

How about this, it's in the movie.

I thought about that, and its good as a movie tie-in, but the only issue is the viewable area is still small and in this case is focused only ahead. So you're not getting that much better than the subs we have today.

The poster was looking for something with a massive viewable area from the sides and top.

Need something more like this but maybe a bit larger seating area so it can handle 6-10 guests, this would give you 360 degree viewing:

To do that they would need to remove the lagoon for a queue/ride load building. It would be ashame to lose it. It would have the capacity Disneyland needs and they could do some cool swings and barrel moves. Maybe that queue/ride load build goes where Autopia is now and the lagoon becomes empty except for glowing plants.

Disneyland has a charm that has yet to be replicated in any other Disney Park (in my opinion of course).

The challenge is not to destroy that charm in a Tomorrowland makeover. To me, bringing back a version of the peoplemover and restoring the Rockets to on top of the tower is the necessary first step along with putting in a really good 3-d show in the theatre.

Personally I would produce a new show called “Magic Journeys into the Imagination starring Figment” - this would include Figment in the west coast and also create an attraction for Epcot’s imagination theatre as well.

I’d like to see the carousel of progress building remain, several options exist I think.

Tear out the old Tomorrowland. They will never rebuild it to its former incarnation. They need to start fresh with the Tomorrowland theme or a different land. I would build a copy of the Matterhorn and bobsleds upgraded to smoother track but follow the same layout as close as possible along with more scenery inside. Maybe save Space Mountain's track as it is a fun coaster but change the theme up or just sell it to a regional park. The rest would be a blank slate. No Tron clone though. The building is too big and ride time too short.

Looking at Disney's stock prices, it ain't happening anytime soon. If ever.

It has been said that Matterhorn could not be rebuilt as is on its current footprint due to newer building code requirements. It would require a footprint much larger, I've seen as large as double its current size thrown around, basically something that isn't going to be doable with the space limitations around the area.
