Disney to announce overhaul of DL Tomorrowland at D23?

I'm not convinced Rat Chat has credible inside sources.

TRON at Disneyland would be a disaster. I don't see how it could possibly fit without either being a completely different, truncated attraction or absolutely decimating the east side of the park. It also seems redundant with Space Mountain next door, IMO.
Seems like it's been a while since they've published any rumors like they used to do. And they seemed to have stopped most criticism of Disney's theme park choices. It's hard to justify even visiting the site for anything but photo reports now.

It would visually be the biggest disaster in the park’s history. I don’t think many people realize just how bad it would be.

It would be horrendous… if they didn’t customize it so that it fits harmoniously in it’s surroundings. I know they re capable of doing some stupid stuff but I have to believe they re not THIS stupid? Right???

With that said I’m not sure what they could do to make it work in its coaster form. It’s just too big. Unless we have another Space Mountain that’s just spiraling doing right turns. It would have to be some new Rocket rods rebuild with maybe a finale in a show building where Launch Bay is now. It would kill a few birds with one stone. They could also technically shut down Buzz and have the whole show building be part of the attraction. Basically it would be like all the other creative uses of space we love about Disneyland.

1. The land would have a lot more kinetic energy and look great at night.

2. The “People Mover” would be back for all intents and purposes.

3. Tomorrowland gets a new E ticket.

What would you want to see added to Hollywoodland?
An area themed to classic Disney Animation with no Pixar. I would demo it and start over from scratch. In the spot of the Sunset theater showing watered down PhilharMagic would be an interactive moving walkway attraction in the same vein as the rumored Minions villain con attraction at Universal Studios Florida. It would be Fantasia themed where you would have a wireless wand and fire off at targets. the ride would not be pure screens like Web slingers but will move more practical sets with media integrated into them like Secret Life of Pets at Universal Studios Hollywood. For one of the E tickets that would go where Monsters is and expand into the transportation lot that would be freed up with the Eastern Gateway likely to be revived thanks to DL forward would be a trackless dark ride themed to Disney villains. The plot of the ride would involve major Disney Animation villains teaming up and you would join Mickey to fight them in an epic battle. The ride would have AR integrated in the ride cars based on a patent filed a while ago and would also be interactive. This E ticket would take the projection tech of Runaway Railway and mix it with practical effects like Secret Life of Pets of USH. The animation building could be replaced with something like the Play pavilion at Epcot that be changed out easily over time with new experiences. As for the Hyperion that can be demoed and Avengers campus can use that spot of a new attraction of its own.

Maroon Studios mini land with some Roger Rabbit attractions: Toontown Express (simulator), Roger Rabbit in Cartoon Mayhem 4D and Baby Herman's Runaway Baby Buggy Ride. The entertainment show will be Roger Rabbit's Lights, Toons, Action! starring Roger Rabbit, Baby Herman, Jessica Rabbit, Benny the Cab, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie, Daisy, Chip N' Dale, and Pluto.
The dining will be The Ink and Paint Club, Toontown Diner, Terminal Bar & Grill, The shopping will be ACME Warehouse, etc...
Also I want newer version of The Great Movie Ride to be added.

Do it right? I'm thoroughly skeptical and imagine they will do a more Vegas-themed Tomorrowland which means I will be thoroughly disappointed. Do you really expect this "upgrade" to be true Disney?
Disneysea is an excellent theming that occurred before this "management" team.
So Disney is doing so bad financially that they can do this upgrade? None of this makes sense and the red flags are a'flyin!

Personally I have plenty of issues with it in the two parks it’s already in, so I have no confidence they’ll spend the money to do it right in DL. But I’d be pleasantly surprised!

I hear you. It’s easy to forget though that Disney has never even come out and so much hinted at anything Tron for Disneyland. It’s all been rumors and fan speculation. I can’t even remember if any of those rumors came from credible sources as the last time we heard anything was 2019 or earlier.

Also if we go by that last piece of concept art with the retro future TL that would seem to indicate there are no plans for Tron at TL right?

That would make a whole lot of sense, but I guess I’ve reached my most cynical form because I could totally see them going with the retro-future design and still plopping down a Tron coaster. They’d change the colors of the show building and canopy (like they did on the other coast), plant some colorful flowers around it, and top it off with a parks blog post explaining how since the original Tron movie is from 1982, this is the perfect retro-future attraction for their new Tomorrowland.

But no I don’t actually think it’s going to happen. Honestly I’d be surprised if they announced anything substantial.

Yeah I could see them that doing that too but that concept art at the very least makes me feel that the odds are less that Tron is happening than more.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some rationale that at the very entrance to TL, they are milking it nostalgia, and it would get more futuristic as you go deeper.

Yeah the Collectors Fortress taught us anything is possible. They can have their cake and eat it too with the retro futuristic theming for nostalgia and Tron. Still if I was a betting man, the concept art is data I’d use to bet against Tron in DL’s TL.

Yep, here’s your new subs attraction. Probably using TDS’s 20k suspended track system, as was mentioned earlier.

So what would they do? Just have an empty sub circling the lagoon and reroute the actual ride track to go straight through the show building(s) where we load?

I wouldn't mind Alpha Centauri Expeditions claiming a stake in Tomorrowland; it would almost feel like a return to 50s Tomorrowland but with a speculative fictional twist. ACE and ecofuturism, InventCo and consumer tech, Stark Industries and defense, and so on. If the Tomorrowland redo had to depend on IP tie-ins, I wouldn't mind this being the approach for the main thoroughfare.

I think the front lagoon would become purely aesthetic decoration, maybe some new Avatar sub would be hoisted over it acting as a wienie for the attraction. I suspect they’d also have the queue cross over the lagoon and into the indoor space. All interior sets, track, and non-load bearing walls would be torn out and replaced with brand new dry-for-wet sets and overhead track like at TDS.

More likely they leave the subs the way they are. Then add glowing plants to the lagoon and switch out the Nemo projections for Avatar ones and update the sets. Maybe add a star gate to the cave openings.
