Because Disney's about as benevolent as any other corporation, which isn't saying much.
I suggest not being so intentionally ignorant and reading more about their philanthropy.
They gave over a million dollars for victims of Hurricane Matthew.
They donated over $300 million in 2015 to nonprofits and communities helping kids.
They are hugely involved in volunteer organizations around the world.

They also donated to Boy Scouts of America until that organization's refusal to bend on their stance regarding LGBT scouts caused them to pull funding.

Are you being sarcastic? I hope so. Because Disney's about as benevolent as any other corporation, which isn't saying much.

This has been my suspicion the entire time I've been reading a few people's posts. These rants aren't about Disney, you just hate big business in general.

That's fine...but that doesn't mean everyone will agree. Take it up on a politics site.

Which I wholeheartedly agree with. Disney pulling funding, that is, not the BSA stance. I used to be one, and ashamed at their stance on this.

Yes, they do donate, as do all corporations. But guess what? They also take massive tax write offs. Duh duh!
I thought the name change was totally appropriate.

You really are a bit deluded. Read Disney's SEC report. For 2015, their tax rate was 36.2%. How much was yours?

No, I just hate when people pretend that big businesses are somehow doing something out of the goodness of their own hearts, Disney included.

My child is a Cub Scout. I still think it's a great organization. I get that people have a problem with their stance, and won't dispute it, but it didn't prevent me from letting my son join.

Everyone gets a tax write off when they donate..even you. By all means you don't need to take it if you are too good to claim a deduction. Again, your issue is more political than it is Disney related.

I get it, I don't shop at Walmart for personal reasons... I won't give them my money. If you are truly against something then you wouldn't support them. Can't have it both ways.

So you would rather all of these places not donate money?

You do realize that the USA has the highest amount of charity right? You'd like that to stop?

Jaded much? Yes, Disney and many other companies do a LOT of things out of the goodness of their and their employees hearts. They certainly don't have to give millions to charities, but they do because it is the right thing to do.

My issue is pretending that a for profit company is all about charity. It's all about making a profit and satisfying shareholders.

Yeah, Disney is doing a lot for their CM's aren't they? I'm sure the CM's wanted their hours cut. Wasn't that special?

So your going back to something people were talking about like 10 months ago as if it happened yesterday?? And at the time, there were many CMs that came here to say that yes, some had been cut, but most had not. It was all a non-issue blown up by a few naysayers.
