Disney responds to Fastpass question

If Disney's cast members let us in late, then I see no problem with people going in later than the time that is listed on the fastpass. There are a thousand different circumstances in which being late for a fastpass time could very well be Disney's fault (ie. inaccurate wait times, dinner or lunch taking longer because of slower service, etc). If Disney found a problem with people going in late for fastpasses, then they wouldn't let people go on later than the time listed on the card. If Disney did enforce this rule then I and everybody else who has done this would oblige.

I (obviously) don't have a problem with showing up late for your fp time for whatever the reason, and I think that as long as Disney allows it, it's ok. However, I don't think anyone (and I don't think anyone has) has the right to complain if CMs start to enforce the time window. I have a feeling that Disney will go to a pay for fp system because of some of the current systems flaws.

Post of the day goes to Durango Jim!

I second this. I would type more, but i'm currently in the process of recreating the "Partners" statue in my livingroom with paper mache. The only difference between this statue and the one in the hub is that the one in the hub is Walt and Mickey while this statue is Jim and I holding expired FP's in our outstretched hands. I didn't want to risk any copyright infringement. I'm a rule follower ya know.

Yea, I think that if everyone knew they could get away with it the fp would be just as long as the standby. But I basically do the same thing, collect fastpasses and use them when I can. Ive never had a cm turn me or my party down, and was never asked any questions about it. Though, once on Soarin, the lady told us next time we needed to come in between the times printed, but she still allowed us through. It would be harder if you were trying to use a fp from another date or something. But the cms seem cool with it, so I see no problem. Ive heard several cms tell people that it was acceptable.

How is it that something so insignificant generates so much controversy?:ROFLOL:

DurangoJim FTW!Seriously, great job!
:D

So, I often get Fastpasses (Just because I'm near them, and I can at the time.) and end up not even using them at all. My camera bag is full of old Fastpasses.

Is that a whole new can of evil worms?

Bottom Line: Ask an off-duty Cast Member and I'd bet you everything their response would be exactly, or close to this: "What's to argue about? Use them whenever you want after the Return Times, we don't care. FASTPASS messes up everything no matter what people do."

Ah, obviously you've missed all the stroller discussions regarding the age/size of other peoples children!

I never understood why people worried about kids over 3 in strollers if they weren't the ones pushing them! Anyone with kids knows you can move much faster without a stroller!

TO SBKLINE: AWESOME POSTS!! Between your post with the bible story and this recent one about your brother you nailed it! Both posts perfectly sum up what so many of us on these boards have wanted to say on all these threads about fastpasses, pool hopping, kids hovering around the age of 3 getting free admission, resort mugs, etc. Your posts sum up exactly why threads of this nature are created in the first place.

What annoys me the most about posts regarding these issues and those that take great umbrage to these so called abuses of the "system" (as if we're talking about people cheating on their taxes or SS disability) is that these are things that are not provable or quantifiable. And as a brief aside..people please stop referring to WDW as a "system". It's a theme park and a business. Anyhow, there is no way to know how many people use their fast passes beyong the window. Yes i'm sure some of you have "stories" about people you overheard or people you saw arrive late, but that standing alone does not in any way indicate some whole scale "abuse" of fastpasses. Just like pool hopping. You always read about someone on the board saying they saw someone kicked out or they know someone who saw someone got kicked out. But yet my family and I have been going to WDW since 1973 and staying at Disney resorts since 1982 and yet i have never seen that happen. As for fastpasses, how would you even know if someone was using it beyond their fastpass time. The odd thing is how would most tourists even know that they could ask to use their fastpasses beyond the time allotted. I think it is safe to assume most people read their fastpass and believe that the window provided is the only time they are allowed to enter.

My favorite recent thread that allowed so many people to feel good was about which one was worse..pool hopping, kids pretending to be under 3, getting EMH wristbands "illegally, and some other apparent rule that I don't remember. What drove me nuts about that thread is the following..how would someone really know if a kid was getting in for free who was over 3?? how would you know someone who wasnt a disney resort guest was using a disney resort key card to get a wristband? Really how? Have people become so obsessed with what others are doing that people are now purposefully listening in at the ticket booths? I can just imagine Joe Shmo in line at a ticket booth shushing his family b.c. he wants to listen to the family in front of him to make sure their 4 yr old child ( or a child he suspects is 4) is paying for admission for their brat. UGH!!

Lets just stop these silly threads about people breaking the so called rules at Disney. There seem to be more and more of these lately. There are so many positive and yes negative things to discuss about Disney that are much more worthwhile than worrying about what your neighbor at WDW is up to.

I didn't realize fast passes took up unnecessary space in the park. On the day that I run over someone with an overweight fastpass or use up space to park my fastpass that could obviously walk to the ride itself, then we can talk. Thanks for your input though.

My point was simply no one knows how old a child is except for family members. Just like no one knows what time FPs expire except for those holding the fp's. I am able bodied and can easily avoid strollers w/ease. We stayed 14 days this summer and no in our group was hit or bumped by a stroller...however we had more than our fair share of encounters w/Brazilian tour groups! Besides strollers will be rented taking up space regardless of the size. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my comments.

If the original letter came from Disney, it marks a sharp departure from the messages people have previously gotten in reply to their questions — the ones that look like they were patched together by a committee of lawyers with the express purpose of saying nothing at all.

I think that is why many of us questioned the authenticity of the "letter" and chose to jest with the OP and those defenders of the faith.
