Disney Playing catch up with Universal... Potter Disney's biggest mistake in 20 years...

7 mil for the year. now ad 11 mil to ur pic and that's Disney Magic kingdom alone
That's at USF... and they've been increasing steadily. Both parks could be at 8.5 million each by the end of this year. By Pandora, I wouldnt rule out 10 million each... 9-9.5 million more likely, but still. And Universal doesn't want to take on MK - they're aiming at the two half day gates and one stagnant gate WDW currently has.

That is merely predicting though. They will reach a point of maximum attendence--not because of capacity, but because they will run out of people that will want to visit them
Just like MK can't add more than 17.4 million.. what's that? Added a million guests with NFL? My bad.

It's short sighted for you to say that, especially when Universal is getting ready to expand their family friendly options. Both parks could probably hold 11-12 million a year at maximum capacity right now... add in the expansions/revamps, they could hold quite a few guests.

It's not speculation to assume that they'll each have 10 million guests by 2021. IOA has 7 years to add the 2 million necessary. USF will have 6 years for the 1.5-2 million necessary. Both doable if they keep up the current pace.

This isn't a rude sarcasm thing, but what exactly will they be adding with family friendly options??...

10-15 minutes? There is a reason Epcot had to redo all of its rides. People in today's society for the most part want instant gratification, not 10-15 minute rides. BTW Mystic Manor is 5 minutes in length and RSR is 4 minutes. It is a different era.
And yet attendance was better back when it had the long boring rides that wanted you to learn a little something.

Well, that isn't worded the way I wanted it. What I mean is that some people will either not want to visit theme parks or be so closed-minded that they will not care to go to Uni on their trip anyways.
Pretty sure Potter is already convincing people to go to Universal - the IPs after Diagon will just provide some support

Here's what has been done, is being done, or rumored to get done over the next decade

Kong (all ages E ticket)
HE
Twirl n Hurl
Upcoming KidZone revamp/expansion
Interactive Gardens of Allah museum
JP revamp (family coaster, Discovery Center dark ride were rumored but it could be something completely different)
Seuss expansion
Potential Wonka overlay/retheme of LC
Toon Lagoon front area (likely to be family friendly considering the 5 thrills-centric attractions near it)
Mystery plot by MIB and Springfield (likely to feature something family friendly along with an E ticket)
Potter Phase 3 (probably small scale/all ages additions)

RSR is also not an outdoor ride through an unthemed environment with a 30 second interior portion...it is a fully realized, fully themed environment... Seven Dwarfs, the outside coaster section, though nicely landscaped does little to tell the story...RSR you are surrounded by it...The fast race is part of the story...

On the contrary, I don't see Universal maxing out as long as they continue to add compelling new attractions. If they would add a third gate, more attractions to the existing parks and continue to add resorts, they may start getting tourists who start alternating between trips to Disney and Universal.

Right now Disney has the edge due to nostalgia and size. They offer enough attractions to keep people occupied for a weeklong vacation. Universal isn't quite there yet, but will likely be at some point. At the moment, they are definitely capturing people's attention and creating buzz... much moreso than Disney did with NFL.

All in all, this is a great thing. Disney needs some competition. They have some of the most talented imagineers in the world, but also a bunch of suits and bean-counters that don't see the need for elaborate attractions when they already dominate the market. The more guests that Disney sees being siphoned away, the more likely they will be to start financing new attractions.

Although I love Tim Burton's work, I think the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a superior film...memorable music and iconic moments. I liked Burton's Characters a little more, but on the whole, the first film would be better fodder for a themed land....
The problem is that Dahl disliked Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, so you're going to have a very hard time getting the rights without also agreeing to avoid the film.
