Disney Playing catch up with Universal... Potter Disney's biggest mistake in 20 years...

This is just a reminder that NBC is airing an hour-long "making of Diagon Alley" at 8pm tonight. I'm trying to remember another time when a major network devoted a prime time slot for something like this. It's pretty remarkable.
Idk if remarkable is the word...but yah it is pretty cool.

Kinda a missed opportunity on Disney's part to not do the same thing with Cars Land and New Fantasyland... and all of those kids seemed pretty excited by the interactivity displays and Gringotts.
Well, lets not forget they were actors and there gonna be a bit more crying children i the big crowds than they showed;)

Perhaps a good idea would be (for both resorts maybe) would be every once in a while to have an attractions showcase special like similar to what they had tonight?

Watching right now. Another page right out of Disney's discarded play book.

Years ago, before Disney owned ABC, the company did do things like this.

The best part of tonight's Universal special was that it was handled maturely, without the canned screams and hammy actors that have plagued Disney's parades and Travel Channel shows since about 2007.

Get on YouTube and look up the opening from EPCOT Center or the Studios, or any of the Christmas parades from the 90s. Disney was once the master at these primetime infomercials.

Definitely! Universal should bring in the Today Show hosts along with Jimmy Fallon every year to show what's new at Universal Orlando. Steve Burke could maybe provide narration/commentary. Keep up the loose/friendly vibe that works well with Universal. Make it an annual event - could even be an overview of all of their parks to avoid dedicating too much airtime to just one attraction. Rub the immersion in TDO's faces (arguably TDA's as well since it doesn't seem like they're adding much) ;)

Not to mention all of the memes Gene Wilder's Wonka portrayal has;) his version is the iconic one and stills airs on ABC Family pretty regularly
Like this one?

I got it off the Disney memes thread in general discussion. They've got some others that are really good :hilarious:
