Disney on 9/11

"They" aren't going to hit us on another 9/11. Security and attentiveness are at max levels nationally every year on that date. If it happens again, it will likely be when we least expect it...

apparently they wanted to attack in germany on 9/11 .. but intelligence and police stopped them before they could .. I hope that was the only group planning attacks

No. They will have other attacks planned. They always do.

9/11 = 4 planes
The attacks in London = 4 bombers

They said they would be attacking the US this summer. I'm expecting it in some form because they're are ways that they can get passed without being spotted.

They want to hit not only on U.S. soil but U.S. interests. The whole world has become more alert to strange things. It's not as good as it could be, but it's better.

Went to EPCOT and MK a few years back on a 9/11. The day started with a moment of silence before rope drop at EPCOT. Saw the American Adventure for the first time on that day, which was quite moving. And I ended the day at MK, where the flag retreat ceremony included a special performance from Voices of Liberty. Far from being scared to be there, I felt it was a unique and appropriate (given the patriotic elements I described) way to mark the day in its truest sense... remembering what has happened to us, but refusing to live in fear.

Good for you BrkgNews, I live in NYC and work about 8 minutes from Ground Zero. This wasnt a news broadcast to me at all. This was right up the block. I knew a few of the firefighters who gave their lives that day as well. Come that December, my butt was on a plane back to Disney as I refuse to live in fear. If we cave to that, the bad guys win and I personally wont let that happen to me!!! Belle

I can't imagine I'd ever be "worried" to be at Disney. Thrilled and excited are better terms.
Same here, I don't think thoughts like that could ever even come into my mind when I'm there. And if an attack were to happen, what a great place to spend your last day. ;)

I am not worried... but I guess with us traveling down on that day it just crossed my mind. I have always felt safe at Disney so I am sure everything will be fine. It was just a thought.

Well said...

I too live in NYC, moved her right after 9/11. If you spend the rest of your life afraid of a terrorist attack then that is another victory for the terrorist.

The family and I live in NJ. When I go to work I can on a clear day I can see the whole NY skyline. I could see everything, the smoke reached over my home for several days after. My wife who is a teacher in Elizabeth NJ actually saw one of the towers come down, and someone in her church was working at a HS in Jersey City heard one of them coming down. They had to move all the students to the other side of the school. It's strange not seeing them any more. I grew up in Jersey and remember seeing them being built too. But, we had a trip already set for WDW, and in no way was I going to let something like this stop me from enjoying my vacation. Yes we must be cautious, but we can't let that keep us from what we do in our lives. If we let them stop us they win.

 I live in Hoboken, and work near Rockefeller. I completely agree w/ both of you. If we're constantly afraid of it, they win.
As for being at Disney that day, I can't think of any place I'd rather be....well, I suppose that's true for any day.

A little OT for the other NYCer's...Did anyone see that the local ABC station decided not to air the ceremony this year and will show regular programming that morning?

We live in Jersey too, close enough to remember the smoke and that smell. I'll never ever forget that smell. But we also refuse to live our lives in fear and though we'll never forget, we don't let it govern our actions.

*cough*paranoia"cough*

I don't think that it's appropriate to mock others that feel fearful though.

I was there last year, and it didn't even "click" for me until I got home and was going through my digital photos and took a notice of the date stamp. It sort of hit me, "oh yeah........"
